That's so nice to hear. At one time I had a goal to cover every single repair on a PT Cruiser with a video, I definitely fell short, but glad people are finding the ones I did get made helpful.
Matt - this is a great video! I have a 2005 Dream Cruiser Convertible, and the top stopped retracting even though I could hear the motor making its sound. I saw green fluid under the car on the garage floor, so maybe a broken line. Been putting it off, but I know exactly what to do now and where the motor is. Thanks!
Hi Matt thank you for you showing me how to do it. My granddaughter and I followed your directions. I have a PT Convertable 2005 GT. When we looked in the back the oil was empty. We put the oil in till it was almost full. We put the top up and down manually. Then we used the top motor. It worked, so the motor works. It hasn't been down for 4 years so it seemed a little stiff. But we added more oil. It started working good. Then we heard a noise like a squirt while lowering the top. And the oil went down in the bottle. It must have squirted out somewhere but we don't see oil anywhere. And we followed your directions with the screws (trunk and oil screw). Do you have any other directions we can do??? Thank you, Donna
I'm replacing my motor/pump now. Before I do I just wanted to make sure of something. Do I need to release the pressure by turning the screw counter clockwise before removing the pump/motor? I know this isn't what you did in the video but I can't seem to get an answer on this. I appreciate the help.
Seems like a good idea, I don’t think anything too bad will happen if you didn’t but for sure you would get a good spurt of fluid coming out from the first line you disconnect and you can avoid that by loosening the screw.
Hi, i have a leak in the line how do i fix or how much does it cost? Also my front bumper is not wrecked just the nuts are gone one on each side how can i repair this without buying another bumper.
The best thing would be to scan it with a dealer level scan tool so you could retrieve the airbag code which will probably tell you which component is at fault. I’m not super knowledgable on the system to be honest but I know there are a few sensors, a module and the bag itself. Typically if the light is on it means the airbag will not deploy, I’ve heard some people panic over the light coming on thinking the bag was going to randomly deploy but that won’t happen. The light being on just means there’s a fault in the system and if there is a fault in the system it won’t deploy the bag even on an impact.
Sounds like you've got a serious leak, probably needs new hydraulic cylinders. You could loosen that screw in the trunk on the bottom of the pump and use the top manually though.
Hey Matt. I fixed my top yesterday. I added AT 205 to the reservoir hoping it would stop future leaking. We'll see. So, do you know how to remove the power mirror switch? I'm not sure if it pops out or if the panel must be removed. Both of my mirrors are missing the "down" function so it must be a switch problem.
Great to hear on the top, this one is still working perfectly now that we are back into convertible season. Sorry I believe I did change one of those power mirror switches but it was a very long time ago and I can’t recall (Long before I did UA-cam). I’m sure it’s clipped into that panel I’m just not sure if you should try to pop it out or does that panel come off I can’t even recall?
@@CarswithNash I'm pretty sure the panel comes out. I've had the entire dash apart but that was over 5 years ago and at the same time I did my wife's regular PT and also our old Explorer. I changed the dash lights to LEDs, put in a new blinker stock and even glued a transponder key inside the steering wheel housing so I could get regular keys to work. Well, the down function isn't that important. Thank anyway.
I would start with the basics like checking the fuses and the connections, look for worn through wires and things like that. However I believe the cruise control runs through the computer on these cars, especially on the 2006 and newer like you have, so it may in fact be an issue in the computer which would require an expensive computer replacement so it would be best to live with the glitch in that case. It could be the control stock on the steering wheel also but I think that would be very unlikely… when you figure how long a signal switch will last and compare the amount of usage the cruise control switch would get it’s unlikely you would wear that out.
Hey Matt. Love your videos. It's time for me to do this on my 2005, like yours but tan top & tan leather interior. So, how is it holding up? Seems like it must be a closed system so it must be leaking somewhere, like under the seat. I was going to add some kind of leak stop too. Maybe it'll fix the leak 🤔 So, is it still holding up? I've heard some people (that didn't add stop leak) say their fix only lasted a couple days.
Yeah they are a pretty common universal wheel but they suit the car well. I was lucky it came with them and fresh new tires when I bought it. This is actually my mom‘s car now, she bought it off of me.
@@CarswithNash I have an 05 convertible and an 07 gt wagon right now .. I'm actually in the process of rebuilding the differential on the 05 gt convertible at a bit over 400 HP to wheels it kind of spit out the axels lol 😂😆
Thanks for this video! I Have a 2005 Touring model and have never seen a video that explained and showed how to solve the problem.
Thanks for your feedback and kind words.
Thank you, Matt! You know the answers to my convertible problem. Everyone else just thinks I'm a crazy dame. Now to get a man to do this for me. By

Thanks for fixing "Frosty" for us!
No problem mom, hope the car treats you good from here on.
Great video. I have a 2002 Limited and whenever I’m curious about some thing on it I always look to see if you have created a video for it. Thanks🚙💨

Thanks for the video! I finished adding the oil thanks to you!
Great Video! Thanks from Germany
I need to do this with mine! Thank you! Fingers crossed it works!
Good luck!
You are so smart! Thank you!

Thank you! Oh that's rather annoying, no chance you are able to put that through on your insurance policy?

Yeah if you are seeing fluid on the floor it sounds like it’s going to need more than just a top up. Good luck!
How to fill the floorpan with more oil from the leaking cylinders...
Great. How do you find the power source to activate the pump??
That I could not help you with, sorry. There must be a fuse for it.

The top on this one has worked flawlessly ever since this repair, so I hope you will have the same level of success.
Good info and good fix.
Thanks! Yes I was happy it turned out to be an easy fix.
My driver window won't work or convertible. What's Should I do first window or put fluid in the convertible tank.

I think there is a leak on mine, any suggestions on how to locate it?
Spray water all over it and look for where it's coming in. It likely just needs a new trunk seal.
I checked the reservoir and it was empty. Got it filled up and the top opened about a foot. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you've got a serious leak, probably needs new hydraulic cylinders. You could loosen that screw in the trunk on the bottom of the pump and use the top manually though.

where did you get the syringe? thank you
From a livestock supply store.
Is this something you can do once a year or just when you are having problems?
Just when you’re having problems, you wouldn’t want to overfill the reservoir.
Awesome info!
