  • For years, the District of Columbia’s Attorney General warned the mayor and city council about the risks school absenteeism and truancy presented long term.
    “Habitually truant students too often wind up failing or dropping out of school, joining gangs, using drugs, parenting children themselves, and engaging in criminal activity,” the AG’s staff wrote D.C. elected leaders starting in 2017.

      Can't blame the parents. You can tell your kids to go to school until you are blue in the face but at the end of the day they have a mind to go where they want. If you leave to go to work and your child is supposed to get on the bus and go to school but they don't. Who's at fault there?
