Hey I'm absolutely thrilled to see you commenting on one of my video, did not expect that but made my day. You're something of a legend to me so a real honour. Between this and Crazee Rider you really proved what a capable gaming machine the Beeb was, absolute class and both are 10/10 games all day!
Amazing isn't it? Have you seen my video of Crazee Rider? Another Kevin Edwards game which also still blows my mind. Music in both that and this was by Martin Galway. Another impressive Beeb game I've already covered is Uridium, insanely fast conversion. Thanks so much for watching WormBob👍
Yep brilliant fun and definitely challenging. Didn't do too bad for this video which is always a bonus, very much doubt I'll ever see the end of this game but one of those I always love playing. Cheers Patrick.
Haha, not sure about the better than you part, I just play this one quite a lot somaybe a bit better than my average, believe me I'm crap at almost all games😁 This one is so good though, always good for a quick blast. Cheers for watching Jase👍
Sure belts along doesn't it Stu😉 Love this game, there was a sequel too which I don't think I've played, better put that right! Cheers for watching mate.
Played well Lee, a game you differently need to know the patterns. What a pinned comment by Kevin, still blows my mind that the developers are around and to comment on your video is truly amazing. As a kid I would off loved playing this, think I would of had a broken keyed. Cheers for sharing Lee,
Hey cheers buddy, yeah definitely one of those games that gets easier the more you play. Having Kevin Edwards stop by and comment really did make my weekend, as you say fantastic when these old school devs are still around mixing in the community. Incredible how some of them so young managed to get so much out of these systems back in the day. Cheers for watching fella👍
It really is a stunner of a Beeb game, great unique enemies, nice graphics and background(I'm a sucker for some nice twinkly stars) and it's so fast and fun to play. Cheers Alex👍
I remember that game. Not from back in the day but because I was just playing it on the Master last week. I wasn't playing from disc though, I was a heretic and played it from the internal MMC drive. The Master is a bit quicker than the standard Beeb but it never fails to amaze me how quickly it can throw things around the screen, especially when you conside the machine has no hardware sprite facility. Another good little shooter on the Beeb was 'Attack on Alpha Centauri' from Software Invasion. You've probably come across it or seen a screenshot of it at some point but it's a clever take on Space Invaders with a bit of depth perspective as the invaders get bigger the closer they come to you. Keep em coming sir!!!!
I do use the Gotek a fair bit on my Beeb(you can probably see I have a really nice twin drive, best of both Worlds) but when it comes to the BBC Micro you can't beat the feel of loading a floppy disk for the full nostalgia blast. Hmm, the name Attack on Alpha Centauri certainly sounds familiar, but I won't know if it's one I've played until I load it up so will defintely get it downloaded, thanks for the recommend. It has to be said I really love owning the BBC Master, back in the 80's I never dreamed I would have one of these at home, the novelty doesn't wear off! Cheers for watching as always(ooh I managed to grab a(what I think is a rare) TI99 game earlier, more on that in my next pickups).
@@Tetlee You've peaked my interest on the TI game. As for the BBC Master, I've got 2 of them and 2 model Bs at the moment. One of the Masters is one I picked up about 10 years ago and has been recapped, multi OS switched and has an internal MMC drive. The other is still a stock untouched Master that I bought in 1997 for £5 from an old flea market. I also got my Acorn Electron, a 16K Spectrum and an Atari 130XE all for £5 each from the same place, you don't get those kind of finds any more.🤔
@@allanmailer4540 looking into it seems the TI game isn't rare but still I'm chuffed to find it as never seen it for sale before and loved the looks of the game when I've seen videos of it. I think I mentioned before that if I had space I'd love to have a model B aswell as the Master, but I think I've more than maxed out the space I have😄 You got some absolute bargains there, don't think I've ever in my lifetime got bargains like those haha, certainly not likely to come across deals like that in these times, nicely done sir!
GALAFORCE on the BBC Micro looks retrospectively pawsome 🐾 😺👍. The music and sound effects 🎵🎶 are absolutely amazing 😺👍. And the 5,25" floppy disc... OH YEAH 😺👍!
@@KevinEdwardsRetro The same Martin Galway, who composed the music tracks and sound effects 🎵🎶 for the Commodore 64 games, such as HYPER SPORTS, MIKIE, WIZBALL, RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II and PARALLAX? That is absolutely retrospectively pawsome 🐾 😺👍🕹️! Greetings from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
@@KevinEdwardsRetro haha wow, THE Kevin Edwards, honoured to have you watching one of my videos, huge fan of your work and interesting you should comment on the music and sounds as I did look to see who I could credit for that as the music is brilliant. Thanks so much for your legendary games(this and Crazee Rider are two of my Beeb favourites) 🙂
@@KevinEdwardsRetro I did wonder if it was Martin Galway, I don't have much experience on the C64 but coukd certainly recognise the similarity of the excellent BBC Master version if Crazee Rider, possibly my favourite 8bit tune of all time
This looks awesome lee buddy 😄👊 seeing you stick that floppy in 😮😂 takes me right back to playing breakout and flogger on the BBC micro we had in junior school 😊 I really fancy playing this bud, fairplay the micro has done a great job there and id agree with the 10/10 😄🕹
Nice one Steve, yeah when you want the full BBC Micro nostalgia fix its gotta include loading the good old floppy disk😁 This is an incredible game, Kevin Edwards sure knew how to get the most out the Been. Oh and excellent music was by Martin Galway👍
Haha and I need to buy more of that beer, really enjoying that one lately🤪 This game is an absolute blast to play mate, one of the showcase Beeb games no doubt. So much fun to play no matter how far you get. Cheers for watching Scott mate👍
Haha it's a pretty forgiving game on the whole despite it's lightening fast speed. The enemies rarely bombard you in the early stages with only really the spawning guys being the tough buggers😄 if you don't get on top of their wall of enemies it gets near impossible to get in there to kill them. Brilliant game, a Beeb classic for sure. Cheers Richard 👍
Blimey, this is really quick isn't it, great looking game and seems to perform really well on the BBC I can see you've had a bit of practice here Lee, yet another great looking title for the old school computer 👍
It sure is a fast one, Kevin Edwards really seemed a wizard when it came to lightning fast Beeb games(he also did Crazee Rider which was super fast too). Haha yes plenty of practice as I love playing this one so it's one I come back to a fair bit, very addictive. Cheers James buddy.
The great thing about featuring BBC Micro games is that I've never seen any of them. (Strange, we got Coronation Street, but not the BBC Micro) This one is certainly a speed demon. Galaga and Galaxian seem downright sedate by comparison. The Motorola graphics and TI sound are put to good use here. I suck at schmups, but I do love 'em.
haha oh dear, you could've done with the BBC Micro and not Coronation Street, haha. The BBC Micro was an incredible computer, almost everybody my age within the UK has experience on this computer(in most cases the first computer they experienced due the the educational drive) but a lot don't realise what a capable gaming computer it was, this is down to the fact for home users it was super expensive compared to the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad, Comodore etc. Have you ever watched Micro Men? If not you really should look it up, it's on youtube and a brilliant modern recreation on the history of both Sinclair and Acorn. Galaforce is such a brilliant game, Keven Edwards sure knew his stuff as a programmer on the Beeb, Crazy Rider(which I've already covered) is one of my highest rated Beeb games. Thanks for watching and hope you're having a great weekend.
@@Tetlee But having Coronation Street DID allow me to truly appreciate the Red Dwarf episodes that took place there! Having Lister meet Lloyd was one of the great moments in sci-fi. Will look up Micro Men this aft.
Cheers Marc, had a great day yesterday but ye Gods the weather is shite today, haha. Cracking game this mate, always a blast to play no matter how far you get😎
If ever there was a game worthy of The Gerthiest Space Shooter this would be well in the running😁 Cheers for watching mate, hope you're having a girthy weekend🍆
