No matter how many times I watch this, it still makes me tear up. Marineford was such a monumental change from the OP we had known before. Oda decided to turn his world upside down with this arc. This AMV sums it all up relatively nicely, keeping the images that really mattered and portraying a meaningful emotion throughout with the help of Shinedown's Diamond Eyes. This really marked a new beginning for Luffy and crew. My favorite AMV ^-^

The very beginning of this AMV gave me a thought, all of the admirals have some form of eye covering, sleep mask, hat brim, sunglasses, and now we have a new admiral who intentionally blinded himself. Is there a hidden meaning to this, like the admirals refuse to see how the world really is and what the world government is actually doing and have blinded themselves to how evil and unjust everything is?

Started watching One Piece a couple of months ago and I just finished Marineford arc. All I have to say is that this part made One Piece the greatest -or one of the greatest- Shônen ever (and I've seen quite a few ) All hail Shiro Hige !!
SPOILERS!!! I like how OP is very simple, but can still be quite deep. Example: the battle at Marineford started for a simple reason (Whitebeard wanted to save his "son"), but it quickly turned into political symbolism (new era, etc...). To the average person in the OP universe, the original reason for the battle was pushed to the background. It was now generally a war between the Marine and Pirates overall, not "just" a rescue mission. Also, most soldiers in the battle ended up simply fighting for fighting's sake. Only a few people (high ranking Marine and Whitebeard officers + Ruffy) fought with determination. The average joes *had* to continue fighting, once it started, simply to survive. They didn't really have another reason, as they were pushed into it by the higher-ups. There were good and bad people on both sides of the conflict and neither side really wanted the fight, but neither would back down either. As such, it wasn't really a conflict of good VS evil on the grand scale. The consequences were ambiguous too: on one hand, the marine won and the general population was happy and safe, on the other hand, Whitebeards territory was messed up and the pirate world unbalanced, leading to chaos. In the end, Shanks had to step in, because the entire debacle was really utterly pointless. This reminds me of how comparatively "minor" things get escalated beyond measure in RL (Ukraine, Afghanistan, Palestine, WWI etc...)
deathrobo I almost agree. IMO most people don't realise that to propperly enjoy movies/books/games, etc... one needs to put in as much (mental) effort into enjoying it as the author did creating it. Sometimes, the effort is really small, and sometimes not worth it. That's when we call a movie, book or game "bad". With OP it's the case that they progressively put in less and less effort into the anime, but the story comes from the manga, and that's definitelly worth "enjoying".

Maddinhpws thats pretty sad because one piece is such a wonderful anime! you should really give it another try, its full of epicness, love, trust,honor etc etc. it's one of my favourite animes- and i watched very much trust me-
I watched bleach for some episodes, but then stopped watching it after like 50 episodes, because progress seemed to stop. I also stopped watching Naruto, since it was to overfillered, but I watched a way longer time (like 150 episodes auf Shippuden), while I skipped like 50 episodes, because of fillers and or to slow progress whereas I knew where it was going. But I loved Hunter X Hunter. This had the simple thing, that is had actual progress. You saw in the first 3 episodes from the beginning until the start of the Hunter Examen. In One Piece, that would've probably taken 10 episodes. You had new stuff all time along, that had various points why it was. Only 2 Main Characters, so the character developement went faster, less things to show at one etc. The Chimaera ants arc, was long, but it was worth the ending in my opinion + it ended shortly after it.
Dang I'll have to admit that no matter how many times, i watch this video i cant stop watching it. It makes me feel like watching One Piece every single time.
Good luck on your journey, despite what some fans might say just completely avoid filler. Hell, if you want to do yourself a big favor read the manga until the water 7 arc, you'll skip the period of the anime before it became a real fighting anime
Arlong Pirates v Straw Hat Pirates, Alabasta and Straw Hats v Baroque Works, Jaya/Skypiea back story, Straw Hats v CP9, Sabody Archipelago, Marineford..... Just somethings to look forward to in my opinion, many more good things, just giving some ideas lol
Simply the best part of the whole anime awesomely put together. So many emotions, awesome moves and unexpected events. Manly tears are shed every time i see Aces death and Luffy crying. I know this is just a fictional series but damn, it takes your heart with it and lots of emotions are felt. it was good... but compared to Impel Down and Amazon Lily I think Marine Ford felt quite weak in comparison. Just too many draws, Vista vs Mihawk, Mingo vs Crocodile, Marco vs Kizaru, Ace vs Aokiji. They all felt cringe since except for 2 characters everyone else had to survive the arch so nobody really did anything. Knowing Oda I'm pretty sure even Oars Jr. survived... dun ask me how they got him off the island xD Tho WB was amazing, ngl. Not saying MF was bad, just that it has really stiff competition. Wouldn't even make my top 10 honestly.
This is Awesome I also didnt care for One Piece's animation at first but after i started reading it i got used to its unique style i loved the story and man this is one of the best amvs ever. Anyone who wants to watch i would reccomend starting when the quality of the animation changed and became more crisp i think its after the group gets seperated for three years

Just wanted to say that this amv is what made me go back and re watch one piece XD. For the longest time i thought it was a childish show but it really grew on me and I love it and just finished ep 600 yesterday.
hitmanmaloe I fell in love with one piece when this arc released I only watched it for the way and ace I absolutely loved it and I had previously watched one piece and ace was cool for me so when he died I was really sad I still am sad and that's why I decided to keep up with one piece and I haven't regretted that at all

The first time I even heard of One Piece was on 4kids. I gave up on it fast. Picked it up again two years ago and have not regretted it. It's my favorite Anime right next to FMA: Brotherhood. Love this series.

Oh I would never describe any part of One Piece art as 'normal' lol. It took me three or four tries before first getting into it because I was actually so turned off by the art. I don't think I've watched another AMV that more perfectly fits this particular ARC. I'm not sure how many actually follow the deeper meaning of One Piece, it's on par with Stanley Kubrick as far as symbolism goes; It's a life equation wrapped in a kid show paper. This war wasn't about winning or about losing, at it's core it wasn't even about marines vs pirates. It was about men consciously and determinedly playing their role on each side of the ever opposing forces that constitute our universe. The key to understanding this as nothing more than a picture of our universe is understanding that the artist' view revolves around pirates, which are by definition free men, meaning, they don't abide by the good and bad rules because they know they're constructs of the current force that governs the world, I.E. World Government. This is the first point of one piece, understanding there's no good or bad. Put that in the middle of our emotions and you get a war of chances without any actual goal, other than personal view. There's no winners in this battle, just a continuation of this game we play. Some of us chose to question it all our lives, some of us chose to play it with all our might ;). I.E. "I'm on the frontline".
One Piece for World Heritage! This story that teaches us so much about friendship, tolerance, acceptance, family, how important dreams are and how wrong racism and intolerance are and so much more. This story deserves to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
Even in 2022, this AMV, for One Piece still rocks. Doesn't have the same emotional impact as when I first saw it.. 9 years ago, or about then... but still one of my favorites.

I don't think I've watched another AMV that more perfectly fits this particular ARC. I'm not sure how many actually follow the deeper meaning of One Piece, it's on par with Stanley Kubrick as far as symbolism goes; It's a life equation wrapped in a kid show paper.
This war wasn't about winning or about losing, at it's core it wasn't even about marines vs pirates. It was about men consciously and determinedly playing their role on each side of the ever opposing forces that constitute our universe.
The key to understanding this as nothing more than a picture of our universe is understanding that the artist' view revolves around pirates, which are by definition free men, meaning, they don't abide by the good and bad rules because they know they're constructs of the current force that governs the world, I.E. World Government. This is the first point of one piece, understanding there's no good or bad. Put that in the middle of our emotions and you get a war of chances without any actual goal, other than personal view.
There's no winners in this battle, just a continuation of this game we play. Some of us chose to question it all our lives, some of us chose to play it with all our might ;). I.E. "I'm on the frontline".
