If you want one of the first 100 copies of The Broken Isles go here: www.thebrokenisles.com Thank you guys for watching and supporting! I hope you enjoyed seeing behind the scenes of how we ended up bringing this board game to life :).
This was an awesome video as I started my card game (The Arab Card Game) around 2.5 years ago. Been a slow process but created a second game and working on next games. I did a pre-release to get up front manufacturing cost which helped. I ordered 1000 units from China and still selling through them. Not selling like crazy but watching this process made me feel good because it validated how slow this process is
This is so cool to see! Thanks a lot for taking the time to show every step of your journey! Makes the whole process less intimidating after seeing what you needed to do to get through and also how you felt along the way! :) Cheers and thanks again!
Bought a copy! Working on my unique boardgame collection and I also love pirates! Compared to the other games mentioned in the comments.. I think this stands out from the others as a great balance of simplicity and strategy.. not a lot of rules to get lost in for new players.. this will be a welcomed addition along side Clank Catacombs (upgraded), and Super Boss Monster (final boss edition).. can't wait to play it.. In the future if you make improvements to the game pieces, could there be an option to buy an upgrade pack for us early adopters? It would be much appreciated down the road if all goes well..
Thanks! Since each box has a lot of pieces, if we are able to further customize components with higher unit volume, we should be able to have part replacement (or upgrade) in the store alongside the full game.
We have a game night once a week with friends and family. Its important to take that time out of our busy ass schedules. Take some time out for your bro.
Most of this game seems to steal from the Survive board game. The rolling to move the sea monster is directly taken from that game. The captains are basically boats from that game. The main difference is this game has a complex combat system and survive actually has good pacing.
Im sure that going through to steps of doing everything by yourself gave ypu alot pf knowledge But in the end you saved 15$ per unit , lets say both of you did 30 hours of menual leber work to assemble that game, contact each supplier etc You saved less than 25$ an hour , at thid point - just buy the expensive prototype at 50$/55$ save time and do the important parts fester Whats the point of saving 25$ an hour if you can work for much more ?
Only the richest 45% or so of adults in the US earn more than 25$ before taxes, after taxes that's going to be what, 30% or so? Then subtract everyone who can not work additional hours if they want to and you're left with what, 10%? Point in case: earning $50k per year is *not* normal. It's not normal in the USA (median income is 37,585 USD) and less so when you consider the rest of us. It's hard to get good data globally, but it's fair to say that less than 1% globally earns enough that their time isn't worth $25 (2017 data claims that the top 1% earn more than $125 per day).
Release DLCs as STLs. The game has room for ton of improvement, and you can leverage digital products. Plus you can create a business where you can create a patreon for commercial rights. Good luck!
love the game stevie and brian seems a bit confusing but game seems really fun so if people learn the rules they will really enjoy it sort of like monopoly
Looks like a really diluted version of the Sea of Thieves board game, nearly the same price as it too. Even has the galleon on the front of the box, same as the Sea of Thieves one.
Game designer here. I do like the Sea of Thieves pirate theme, but have never played. The Broken Isles is a strategy game with: - Dynamic board rearrangement (the islands are alive) - Chance bag draws (dig for gemstones) - Area control and some combat (pirates and captains) - Strong comeback opportunities (combat power swings) If you enjoy pirate themed strategy games, you might like the novel art and mechanics in The Broken Isles.
@@brianwaterstone Brother. This dude is known to dropship a bunch of products, try to make money in any way without getting an actual job, and blatantly steal ideas from other people. Stealing a base idea then changing it up a bit is not the same as making an entirely new game. Not only that, but all of the things you mentioned in the second part of your attempt to sell the game, is also in the Sea of Thieves board game. Also, unsure if you've ever really played or seen anything on Sea of Thieves, as it's quite literally the furthest away from a roleplaying game as you can get. The game is centered around combat and sinking other ships. Roleplaying in either the actual game or the board game typically just gets you sunk faster. Where did you even see that it's a roleplaying game? For reference, he edited his message, and before he claimed that Sea of Thieves was a roleplaying game.

Could they have saved $2,000 creating the artwork with AI? It’s horrible to think about a time where artists would have trouble finding work because of AI but at the same time it seems that AI could have created that cover.
Hey Stevie , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
Game designer here. I do love Catan! The Broken Isles has two similarities to Catan - both games have roughly the same rule-complexity and the game boards use hexagons. Other than that the games are dissimilar. The Broken Isles is based around map control, strategic movement, board rearrangement, and chance bag-draw mechanics. If you like strategy games, you may enjoy The Broken Isles.
@@soccerpro24242 Having my first game compared to Catan - one of the most successful games of all time - is a great thing! I've enjoyed Catan for years, but when playing there is often no chance for players who fall behind to win. A major design goal for The Broken Isles was to create a strategy game where players who are behind have many small windows of opportunity to get back in the game and win. This makes for a game that is exciting even when the strategy game skill discrepancy is higher among players.

Adding palms tress, rocks, fish, crabs, ect… would make this game feel so much more finished. Awesome concept will definitely be buying
