Glad you allowed my comment; as I meant no disrespect. Pardon my ignorance or the Chinese language. I'm actually glad you clarified that for me. I hear others words of Chinese exultation, even by non-Chinese from players, that we're later translated for me, I just never heard that one before. Excellent match tho. As to your other statement, I do watch Chinese female players, actually more than men cuz I feel they are more fundamentally polished and I tend to learn more from them... ie: Li Xiaoxia, Zhang Yining, Guo Yue, Wang Nan, etc. I just never recall hearing Ariel's words from them. Thanks again for the clarification.
What a match for both Ariel and Jim. Good to see Jim B.is playing again. It seems that his strategy was to challenge Ariel's rally ability by serving long (almost every serve) and it seemed to work. Really like his backhand shots although it started to get away from him in the last game. Thanks for the upload.
Jimmy was a solid top 100 player in the mid-90's. His backhand hit and serves were SICK. He'd be the first to admit that his forehand and backhand spin shots were not up to top world class standards. Seeing him beat Kang He Chan at the U.S. Open in 96 was incredible. And no, he would not have beaten Waldner in a big-time match but so what. He's also over 40 here and not even close to where he was 15 years ago.
I think this video draws much more attention to Ariel's "Saah!" exclamations than you would experience if watching the match live or unedited. I have zero problems with this kind of pumping one's self up a bit verbally.
Ariel took a set from that #1 ranked Chinese Lee in London Olympic. I was surprised how well she played. It's too bad that her game won't improve since there isn't enough pool of players she can compete against in the U.S.
very disappionted that the umpire didn`t called jimmy for illegal serve 2.06.02 The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck. (ittf rule book)
This might sound a bit offensive to alot of Europeans and Americans, but its the fact that most westerners does not have a short table game, that's why he is always serving long. Notice how he always backs up from the table to play the European game.

She was really something back in the day. None of the other toddlers could touch her.

How were both of them World Ranked at this time ?
that guy made it to the 8ths in the Mens Singles for the USA National Table Tennis Tournament in Las Vegas.
It's nice to see "a blast from the past" in Jimmy Butler active again. Is Sean O'Neill coming back too?
he is very, very old now.... what do you think? Also he play during the time when they use a smaller ball.

That guy is good, I want to watch him in person
