Buffalo used to have a passenger charter contract with Diavik Diamond Mines to Yellowknife in the early 2000's. I used to take that to and from every two weeks in their DC-3. You felt like you were bumping along in the back of an old pickup truck (and I say this with the fondest of memories). Was able to get home to YK well before lunch. Also used to load their freights over at Bradenburry Expediting, when Chuck would get in the mix it was nothing but laughs, great memories.
Joe reminds me of general Patton played by george c scott. He ran the show, didn't tolerate laziness or cowardice, thing's were done his way, or the highway. He cared about his men, and didn't take any crap or excuses. .G-d bless.

Regarding the pilot that was summoned from Turkey. How are you allowed to immediately fly an airplane after being jetlagged from crossing multiple time zones?
If the History channel wanted to do another Ice Pilots type series, theres still an Operator in Alaska that operates DC-6's and C-46's called Everts Air Cargo, it would be a very popular series.
I’d rather see more relevant pilot shows. Airline industry. Private pilot industry, charter.. corporate ect.. there’s only ever Alaska flying shows lol. Never anything really worth striving for. This is a Niche.. fun for a while, fun for people who really wanna do shit like this.. but the masses look elsewhere.
@@Vandantcyclone ice pilots along with flying Wild Alaska were very popular shows, they both show a side of aviation that is necessary, not just an expensive hobby
What the narrator doesn’t say is that you get your flying hours up to get captain but you will only be captain on that aircraft once you go to a new airport all the fun starts from the beginning and you will be copilot again
The Lockheed C-130s Hercules is the military transport variant. The civilian model is the Lockheed L-100-10,20&30 and can cost around $5 million dollars. An updated version of the LM-100J started production in 2017 and can cost up to $65 mill.
9 hours and 45 minutes that ive watched over and over again. Your comment and this reply only gives more spread to this video. So from the OP thank you for your concern. But respectfully you comment means nothing 😂
I would love to see the C46 and C47 re-engined with turboprops since the airframes.look like they can continue for another twenty years. I know this is a case economic feasibility but I just love the show, the aircrafts and staff and would love to see them continue with the vital service they perform in far Canadian north.
Jeremy should have been a bit wiser, not to say too much on Camera, though he is correct about the unfairness, the powers that be, like all Employers, don't give a Rodents Rectum about the Workers, except that they are there to be Exploited.
DC3? The Douglas Aircraft Corporation only had DC model numbers up to 10, 9 if you don't count the DC-10 because it came to production during the McDonnell merger. Or, is there a rare aircraft that's an offshoot of the WWII workhorse? The DC3 handles well, but as a fellow sim pilot, I agree you don't truly appreciate how much automation there is until you fly a warbird with steam gauges and a milllion switches and levers, and in a virtual DC3 that won't have problems unless you want to simulate them.
If I applied to a airline as a pilot and they have me driving a delivery truck and running deliveries I would be on the first thing smoking to bring me back home
The VERY FIRST THING THAT YOU DO in a case of first landing with the gear up and then when you come back with the gear down on the second landing is PUT THE GEAR PINS IN THE LANDING GEAR!!! OR doesn't this aircraft have gear pins to pin the gear down and locked? That's a dangerous place getting underneath the aircraft without the pins being installed FIRST!
I started watching Artic Air i had never known about it but after being a veteran of watching real shows like"Ice Pilots" i couldn't sit through an episode great cast and good show but i guess i was used to the real deal Mikey and the real ice pilots crew. Just sayin.
The problem up there is they have to pay a lot of money, have old equipment that is expensive to run and then they need to watch how much it costs to deliver since food is crazy expensive up there already. The government should just create a company that gets funded to ship stuff around up there. Try to hire vets to run the company so they can do things efficiently. Then have everyone on a 2 week on 2 week off shift. If someone wants to move up there then pay them extra but it makes things easier on everyone if they arent stuck up there. Pay for their travel back to wherever they want to live on their days off.

This was amazing! Melena if you ever see this, know that I love you with all my heart. to the skies and beyond
This first aired in 2009 on the History Channel and has just been re-uploaded to UA-cam. It’s unlikely she knows that this show is on here.
One of those cl Fire bombers is probably the one that crashed dropping water in Greece this year

Absolutely love this show! Thank you so much!
This show makes remote communities not getting deliverys on time a bigger deal than it really is. Its normal nobody gets upset.
Sometimes you look closely and you’ll see things like half pallets of koolaid, yes they need their koolaid right now asap!!

Hope they still got the casting for them!.

Why doesn’t Buffalo buy those inflatable heated aircraft maintenance tents? They can deploy it and be in a warm sheltered environment in under 5 mins?

Great idea considering they only cost $70M each, and former military aircraft cannot be put into civilian service in Canada.
