Tilla Kanesis I love how white people talk about wanting to see blackface again- despite the degrading and racist history of its origins- but will lose their shit the moment someone makes a joke about white people.
Tilla Kanesis No one really freaked out about White Chicks because whiteface doesn't have the same centuries long history of being used to ridicule an entire race of people like Blackface does.
Metal Face is still called Black Face in Japanese for his appearances in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Ultimate. Ultimate lets you change the language.
Someday, not very far from today, a game will feature a black protagonist, will be located in Nigeria for example... and will be deemed racist for having black people as enemies...
It Japanese developer making japanese character for japanese audience have to change it in international release so that they are not accused of being racist against japanese people it really gets absurd. This all got way too far and people and people making these criticism are just pretentious
I am sick and tired of hearing about people getting offended by blackface. Most of the time it's not even intentional. I remember hearing about how Rebecca Suger, creator of Steven Universe, published a book of the story artwork, which included a character cut who resembled blackface. And that angered plp so much that they had to remove it from the book, a character who would never make it it into the show. Coke made an ad campaign in Europe and the model was drenched in something black and that drew a lot of criticism. I love the black community but I hate these little issues they consider racist.
I know it probably seems dumb to change Scuffy's design for western releases so that it isn't as "stereotypically Japanese"...but I don't care, I actually am glad the design was changed because I think his western design is better than the original! His new design makes him seem much more depressing, which suits his character seeing as he's desperately trying to keep his business running while taking care of a bunch of kids and being on the brink of poverty or something. I like that concept for the character - makes me feel bad for haggling. Also the comment section for this video is a bloody mess.
When you're built on a corrupt system that had a major part of your working class be considered 3/5ths of the worth of another race, yeah. Everything is kinda racist.
I'm surprised you didn't include Persona in this list seeing as you did include several well known cases of censorship but you didn't include that one.
Maybe black people should start thinking about why those stereotypes exist, because like every other stereotype they are based on reality. Especially Big Mama.
SJW's bitch about other races not being represented in media. When they are represented, they then either bitch about them being different colored white people, or offensively depicting other races. There is no win condition, by design.
I think you're an idiot. Not all stereotypes are based on reality. I'm black and i've lived my life around black people. NO one i know likes watermelons and that is only one example.
I didn't care about the spoilers because I doubt I'll ever play those games since they are Nintendo's IP. On topic; all of these examples are idiotic. I don't feel like typing my reply again, though.
I used to think this was a nice channel but this just seems to attract the lowest common denominator of individuals. I'm out for good, good luck to the rest of you getting offended by getting offended.
Joe Ç Why? It's letting the channel know why he left. It would be incredibly confusing if everyone did that, a channels starts losing subs and the content creator doesn't know why. They then wouldn't be able to make changes to correct the issue.
These changes were honestly so stupid, and completely unnecessary! Especially in the case of Black Face, that's just what he's called! Whenever I get to my video game designing career, I'm gonna make damn sure nothing gets altered in any of my games just because some countries would get "offensive" over fictional characters!
Companies don't play when it comes to controversy. You never know what is going to set someone off, better to be safe than sorry. That said, there is a huge difference between intentional racism, and stylistic choices.
The Japanese had to change a character that looked Japanese to avoid a Japanese steriotype That pretty much sums up how I feel about all the localization nonsense
The ironic racism when you call anything that is black African American, completely forgetting about the rest of the globe that has dark skinned people. But noticing irony was never these people's strong point.
Why didn't you bring up the fact that both Rusty and his Japanese equivalent, Inuji Darumeshi, appear as trophies in Smash 3DS (and Smash being the reference-heavy series that it is, both trophies appear in all regions)? Speaking of which, a similar thing happened in Smash Bros. Brawl, in which both the Ouen Dan and the Elite Beat Agents were featured as trophies.

@@k-leb4671 Nope. Starting in Ruby & Sapphire, Jynx became purple in all regions.
The problem with this world is that People are too sensitive.

Buddertroll why r u got 14 likes?
95% of censorship anywhere including video games and anime is really stupid most of the time
goddamn people gotta stop being offended about the dumbest things
Here is a better censorship for the Face Mechons!
Brown/Garnet Face
Gold/Topaz Face
Green/Jade Face (This is the one that gave me the idea)
Silver/Diamond Face
Black/Onix Face.
i really wish we can get over this black face thing and see it humorously again, like it always was. white chicks was a massive blockbuster success and it was the white equivalent of black face.
Tilla Kanesis "like it always was" it's only funny to racists.
Big Mama looked really funny
Tilla Kanesis I love how white people talk about wanting to see blackface again- despite the degrading and racist history of its origins- but will lose their shit the moment someone makes a joke about white people.
Tilla Kanesis No one really freaked out about White Chicks because whiteface doesn't have the same centuries long history of being used to ridicule an entire race of people like Blackface does.
Metal Face is still called Black Face in Japanese for his appearances in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Ultimate. Ultimate lets you change the language.
Japan went hard with the racist black stereotypes O_O I never really paid any attention to it until now lol:D
Americans did the same in the beginning of the 20th century's cartoons.
So, what you're telling me is, if a character is black, has squinted eyes, or is a stereotype, it's extremely racist and offensive
Someday, not very far from today, a game will feature a black protagonist, will be located in Nigeria for example... and will be deemed racist for having black people as enemies...
DragmaKerp you mean like resident evil 5
thats not how that works but ok
It Japanese developer making japanese character for japanese audience have to change it in international release so that they are not accused of being racist against japanese people it really gets absurd. This all got way too far and people and people making these criticism are just pretentious
I'm shure that more than 80% of the offended people weren *NOT* even black or asian...
“seems dumb”
seems like an amputee… see? i can use irrelevant disabilities to insult things too!
And everyone forgets Captain Tsubasa to Tecmo Soccer censorship
That's because Captain Tsubasa is owned by Shueisha.
People know think everything is racist.
Actually these stereotypes exist out of negative ignorance
I think you're an idiot. Not all stereotypes are based on reality. I'm black and i've lived my life around black people. NO one i know likes watermelons and that is only one example.
No, not really Propatman.
Rage Induce
Oh look at me, I don't like watermelons, I'm so special.
Wam Bam Rock wasn't black. He was just a floating face with hands.
They should have kept the bandito in toy story thought it was cool..I'm Mexican...
I'm out for good, good luck to the rest of you getting offended by getting offended.
ultimaT Exactly, I don't want to be around these fuckers.
Joe Ç
Why? It's letting the channel know why he left. It would be incredibly confusing if everyone did that, a channels starts losing subs and the content creator doesn't know why. They then wouldn't be able to make changes to correct the issue.
No one is making you look at the comments section dummy
Who are you and why are you playing collective guilt and being a bad person? Fuck you and the high horse you ride
@Stardes1996 Dragon luckily. What you think doesn't count for much as you play as someone who pretends to care
These changes were honestly so stupid, and completely unnecessary! Especially in the case of Black Face, that's just what he's called! Whenever I get to my video game designing career, I'm gonna make damn sure nothing gets altered in any of my games just because some countries would get "offensive" over fictional characters!
tldr; anything with an african american character is racist no matter the context
ive been told that the more easily you can spot racism in something, the more racist you are ;)
I didn't find Jynx racist
pls tell me the track 5:25 !
Companies don't play when it comes to controversy. You never know what is going to set someone off, better to be safe than sorry. That said, there is a huge difference between intentional racism, and stylistic choices.
Censorship are bad in my opinion, i think they should release censored and a uncensored version of the games so people can pick what they want.
The Japanese had to change a character that looked Japanese to avoid a Japanese steriotype
That pretty much sums up how I feel about all the localization nonsense
The ironic racism when you call anything that is black African American, completely forgetting about the rest of the globe that has dark skinned people. But noticing irony was never these people's strong point.
All I've learned from this is that people are just too sensitive.
That's the voice from the Be Amazed channel. Does anyone know who he is, by chance?
LMAO *Fat Mamma was too accurate* and blacks couldn't handle the truth xD
8/10 "Offensive to black people"
Bonus: Black Face
I'm noticing a trend here...
Reading some of these ignorant comments is everything wrong with this world.
ElusiveWonder Exactly, I used to think this was a good channel, but it attracts the scum of UA-cam.
DanBones, you can't fault the channel for its audience.
Yes, everything. You sure are woke
Which ones and what makes you the judge?
"i'm not offended! why would anyone else be offended!?"- typed by white boi #489025482
so yeah, i feel ya
I had no idea that the bandit enemy was considered a racist stereotype in the Toy Story game.
I find tons of humor in black face. It's so absurd and strange that it's funny, I don't understand why people still want it to be a symbol of racism.
It can be funny but also very disrespectful
Ring Rong To who though?
To black people because of what it meant in the past.
Ring Rong I don't know a single black person that's offended by it and I have never been.
Your Waifu's best friend I think most black people probably wouldn't be okay with black face.
I have the PC release of Toy Story 2 Action Game (the latest release) and the enemies in that level are the "Banditos."
Nice video but the comment section ruin it. The commenters are brain dead.
Tae Scott I have to agree, these might be some of the worst I've ever seen.
Just look at the Weaboo Destroyer. See what he did to troll so many threads.
I knew what was coming before I looked and I still cringed
Yeah, not like you. The genius. How do comments ruin a video? If 4chan raids a movies comments section does the movie automatically become bad? You are not very smart

"In the Japanese version-"
*shows Korean version*
People need to look at the context before exploding.
