  • The Stavka was the high command of the armed forces in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. In Imperial Russia Stavka refers to the administrative staff, and to the General Headquarters in the late 19th-century Imperial Russian armed forces and subsequently in the Soviet Union. In the summer of 1915, the Tsar himself took personal command. In the years 1915-1917 Stavka was based in Mogilev and the Tsar, Nicholas II, spent long periods there as Commander-in-Chief. His family visited the headquarters from time to time and they spend a few days there together. In such cases the family spent time at the shores of Dnieper and visited nearby villages, as well as monasteries of the region.
This video is published in the framework of the project for the book "The Romanov Royal Martyrs: What Silence Could Not Conceal".

In these times of pandemic, it encourages me to see how the Imperial Family lived their lives and, near the end, bore their burden with such grace and courage. For us, it is important to remember that this virus too shall pass, as did the pain and suffering of the Emperor and his family. They remain role models to me...of how to suffer life’s indignities and face the cruelty of fate with dignity and love God save the Tsar!

God didn't save the Tsar , Tsar and his Family were sacrificed to save Russia but Russia hasn't been saved ever since , the Pain and suffering are still lingering to this day , when will Russia and her people will be free and enjoy the prosperity like people in the West ? that question remains to be seen .RIP. Tsar and his beautiful Family

Good choice of musical background.. bittersweet melancholy. Dear Alexi who was born to suffer terribly from time to time yet remained a true boy who loved everything and everyone. @ 16:35 ethereal handsome young man. What would his children looked like if he had the chance. Beautiful Romanovs, such beauty and such faith. The world had them but only for a small time. They are in peace forever now. When will his and his sisters remains join the rest of them though? They are still not where they should be.

Thank you very much for your breathtaking words! 🌹
The jewels of the Russian Monarchy were the Family of Tsar Nicolas the 2nd. They were the purest, most innocent and kind people.
I am sure that Slavs were punished for the death of the Family of Tsar Nicolas the 2nd by the Second World War and by their leaders and presidents. Slavs are suffering and degradating. It’s true, these are the Mysterious ways of God!
Let’s hope for the future, if Slavs return the Monarchy and will appreciate it with their hearts and souls, I think ..they can have a future. Slavic land, culture and traditions can be saved…

This is truly beautifully presented . In all the years I have been following since I was 11 ad I'm 67 now... the colour wonderful you can see the worry in their faces the 1916 years too dreadful , but how brave the family was in adversity.
I think Grabbe took these photos a lot of them anyway , it was intrusive , but now I'm glad he did.

A honorable tribute to Czar Nicholas II, the Romanovs, and to all who served the Royal family: the Orthodox Church, the White Army, the Tutors, and the loyal servants. My only connection in the present time is that I’m human. My heart loves this family for the facts that they love & served their Orthodox faith, Mother Russia & her citizens, and their loyalty to their Allies.

Alexandra was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her great nephew is Phillip, married to Queen Elizabeth who are grandparents of William and Harry. Hard to believe how they weren't saved by the Royal family but King George V, who was a first cousin to Alexandra, feared getting involved. He was the grandfather of present day Queen Elizabeth.

What a lovely video! The first world war was an absolute disaster for disaster for Russia (and everyone else for that matter!) but in Alexei's case it got him out of the Imperial Palace and away from all of the women constantly fussing over him and it allowed him to grow up. He always wanted to be a soldier but due to having quite a severe case of Haemophilia B that was never going to be possible nor safe to do so. But in a way he was a soldier for the entirety of his short life fighting a constant battle against that horrible disease to stay alive. He was quite popular at Stavka with everyone there, he kept everyone's spirits up and he had great fun. It was nice to see Prince Igor Konstantinovich on some of the photographs- somebody else who died far too young. By the looks of it Alexei quite enjoyed spending time with Igor from what I have seen here and on other photographs elsewhere. May the Imperial family rest in peace 🙏 xxx

Too bad they couldn't just dress down, like most Americans, and wear sneakers and white socks and t-shirts with no sleeves, sporting snake like tattoos all over their bodies. The girls wearing over tight tank tops with jean shorts up in the crack of their asses. The Empress in sweat pants and a disney pull over top. The Emperor walking around shirtless or maybe in a wife beater t-shirt and torn off shorts. The little Tsaravich in some sort of message shirt and clad in vans. I'm sure they would been MUCH more comfortable....and chic!

If only Alexander III had taken the time to train his son Nicholas II in statecraft--like his father Alexander II trained him. Alexander III seemed to be always reacting to something: in this case his father's insistence of training Alexander III in statecraft--no time for fun pursuits. If Nicholas II was properly prepared to be the czar, things would have been so different.

A change would have been made to the Russian rules on firstborn male primogeniture, or the Romanov dynasty would have ended with Alexis, anyway, unless he lived to generate a son (no sons of hemophiliac men will the disease, but all daughters are carriers). Olga could have just as easily been brought up to rule Russia, and then the matter of Rasputin would not have been so influential on the fate of the country and its imperial family.
