- Welcome!
We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.
Thanks for watching and God bless!

I almost died laughing at the HALF-cake marked "Reduced 50% Off". 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha
My daughter went to the food bank yesterday. Due to multiple medical conditions she has to eat low sugar, high fiber, and low cholesterol. With her disability check going to pay the copayments that are not covered by SSD she has had to turn to the food pantry/bank. No shame. We have some high end organic and specialty grocery stores a block from our pantry that donate. She went and even got a frozen gallon bag of pasta fagioli soup donated by Olive Garden. (They had a large number of these so the restaurant must have donated them because of the used by date that was on them). Her groceries would easily have cost $400. if purchased at these stores. I will be batch cooking for her so she can easily thaw and reheat these meals.
Liquid death is quite tasty. And pricey!
😊😊
As someone who lives in the UK I find it disgusting that people have to turn to food banks because they have illnesses they have to pay for. Last year they found a tumour on my right kidney, up to now I've had two Cat scans one MRI scan and a camera, at the end of the month I'm having another MRI scan and have seen my Consultant a lot of times. I'm on a low income and thank the Lord every day for the NHS. Hope your daughter gets well soon. Xx
How blessed she is to have you. ❤️
@@KathyBarnett-mv5vglow in come folks in the US are covered by Medicaid and Medicare. They have to apply however to get benefits. No insurance is a common misconception in the US.
The brisket gave me a wave of sadness because my husband loved cooking brisket and he died last month. What a huge blessing to get such an expensive slab of meat.
I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤️
We love Liquid Death 😍
My daughter and myself both have the genetic gene that makes cilantro tastes like soap. We have to read the ingredient lists on things so we do not get a very unpleasant surprise. LOL!
Great haul that Brisket is a huge blessing! I went to aldi the other day and they had chicken thighs 50% off stickers i got 12 pounds of chicken thighs for $15. I was so excited! You shopping at aldi has made me start going to aldi and I am amazed at how much I have saved at aldi. Thank you for all you do take care and stay safe!
Wow that's a great deal. Glad you stumbled on that special.
I love red stickers, I was blessed 1 day in particular... I saw the girl bring out the stickers and waited nicely behind her as she stuck them on chicken, sausage ground turkey and steak . Then we went over to the breads . I had been praying for a meat sale and then that happened.
I made sloppy joes out of my lentils in my crockpot.
Bbq, bolognese, tacos, lentil chili, dip, spread!
Beef brisket -- cut it into 5-6 lb portions & then you have uncorned beef brisket, just in time for St Patrick's day!! See videos on how to cut up primal wholesale cuts into retail portions!!

You can make that brisket in the oven. one hour per pound at 250 degrees. cook it low and slow and it will melt in your mouth,

Wonderful haul! That brisket is tremendous. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
Great haul. I’m glad that you’re able to get yummy food for your family.
Great food haul! Have a wonderful weekend!
Its sparkling water.
Wow!!!❤ amazing haul right there!!🎉 that brisket 😮❤
I went to the pantry yesterday. It was the best pantry ever. So much produce. I have lentils, would love recipes.
Wonderful!
That brisket is wonderful, especially if it feeds two families. Also love those steakhouse rolls. Itoast them and have with cream cheese for breakfast. Have a blessed weekend
Great haul! I usually make lentil soup with potatoes etc... have not tried sprouting for my chickens yet will have to try that. Brisket looks amazing!!
Lentil soup is so good!
@@joannaazar7396
I love split pea soup with ham, carrots, and potatoes too!
Lentil soup with smoked sausage in it would probably be really yummy!
@@resa.walters Agree, yummy o
❤😊
If you thaw the brisket in the fridge for a few days, you can cut it into smaller sections and refreeze it safely as well 😊
😂no you can not
@@desjarlaisnl You absolutely can. Feel free to do a simple internet search. Every piece of meat you purchase in a grocery store, has been previously frozen and thawed at least once.
We don't care for sparkling water but I do take Propel anytime I can get it. I got 12 of the large bottles of propel grape flavor yesterday also got a 5pd bag of reese's peanut butter chips
Great Haul, we love Brisket 🥰
I would love to see you make salmon patties. I have 6 big cans of salmon and no idea how to use it. Thank you for sharing your haul. Is a lot nicer than what we have in my small town. Made me jealous for lots of items you got :). My family has been eating pantry meals and because i have only had around 10-30 dollars for the last 6 months for food. I would love to learn how to do salmon patties. It would help me to use those cans of salmon up. ty
Drain salmon & save if needed more moisture when mixing with even parts flour & cornmeal. Add diced onion. Not necessary to take bone out cause it’s rich in vitamins. Use spoon to form into a patty & drop into hot grease. Cook each side til brown & put on paper towel to drain. Enjoy!
VERY GOOD SISTER CHAD AND DEBBIE FROM MARYLAND.
Liquid death is great!
Oh that brisket is amazing!! You got a lot of nice things again. I went to my discount store yesterday and filmed my haul I just need to get it posted. My health is better finally and I can get back to making content again. I got a few amazing deals myself.
I love Liquid Death because of the cans for recycling and reduce plastic waste but only their still water (yes it's plain water in a can) and the plain/unflavored sparkling. All the flavored ones taste nasty to me 🤢 I hope you like them! 😅
I look forward to your videos. You have such a calming mother voice that makes me a bit less anxious ( that’s not weird at all I promise.). I don’t know your real name but I hope you have a good weekend friend.
Not weird at all. I am so glad I can provide you with some calming entertainment. 🥰
IF there is a way to cut the brisket up into smaller portions, the slow cooker would be an option. I've done it with a packet of onion soup and a can of cranberry sauce several times (you can add or switch out flavorings of course, but this is a general guide). It's a family favorite. Just a thought. =)
cant you can the beef raw, in a pressure canner... liquid death is yum and it comes in just a plain non sparkling water too
You have a bunch of extra jars, you could start 3 1/2 cups every day so you’d have 12 cups a day after a week or so, the sprouts don’t really need light the first couple days, or maybe feed them to them a day or two earlier?
That Death drink stuff I just googled and it says don't be afraid, it's just water and iced tea...lol
I didn't know cilantro was genetic. I always said it taste like soap. Everyone said l was nuts. Thank you.
I don’t smoke meats but you might start it the night before because it’s so huge.
We have time for those long stories. Tell them. We are all interested and love home repairs.
I would love to see your chickens eating the lentils!
😂those are split peas not lentils
Don’t mean to scare anyone, but there’s something with applesauce squeezy pouches and lead. It was the cinnamon in it but I don’t know what brand or region or when. But if you have given your kids any of that kind they recommend getting them checked for lead. There won’t be any symptoms so please look into it.
If you know someone with a band saw, you can cut the brisket in pieces from frozen
Liquid death is a water brand, i think they started with still water. Cops have thought drivers had alcohol before... lol
Tried the liquide death but me and my wife doesn't like it. good luck.
I looked up the liquid death, it is supposed to kill your thirst.
It is still water, not bubbly, that comes from the apps
Don't know if you have it in the USA, but in Australia we have a thing called Ice Magic. It's basically just kind of a choc sauce which you pour on ice cream and it sets as a hard shell. To make it at home it's basically a cup of choc chips melted with about a tablespoon of coconut oil. It can be kept in a jar in fridge or bench. Just drizzle it over ice cream and it will set hard! Was always a treat as kids. It will set in the cooler weather and melt in the heat, just give it a shake and it's good to go!! I'm sure the pb chips will work too!!
Also the mango/coriander thing is a genetic condition!! It's been scientifically proven 😊
Could you make bacon egg rolls with the rolls? They can be frozen and just microwaved to reheated for breakfasts
Have you tried to Dry Roasted Walnuts, mixed a bag of walnuts with oil, on a sheet pan with salt. Add hot sauce . In oven 350 and for 8 mins
I've don't something similar with ranch seasoning and roasting them and they were delicious. My husband snacks on them often.
Arugula tastes like diesel fumes, and it took milk, crackers, lemon juice and brushing my teeth and tongue multiple times to get rid of the taste. So gross!
Folks if you are watching on tv you can hit like even though you can't comment. it helps creators. Frizzy hair comes back when you get old. I found another place for fresh fruits and vegetables for seniors.
I lost a lot of hair when I was sick and it is growing back in now. Thus the fuzzies. Lol

Is the food pantry free? Cause you often mention your budget so im not sure if its free or a reduced price being paid and also are food banks free or reduced price?
Food banks are free. I mention budget because the food pantry doesn't supply all our groceries. It just helps stretch what we do spend.
Can it or frozen it
My husband drinks liquid death water all the time he likes it
I don't like cilantro and mango either
The liquid death drinks is made in Europe and available in my local coop in the UK. I have also started on insulin on Tuesday and it’s been crazy. It’s probably from the crohns - which is undiagnosed. I’m thinking type 1 rather than 2. Back in July, I was weighed and found out I had lost like 60 pounds / 4 and a half stone which is crazy.
I hope you get some answers!
How are you doing today
Pretty good. How are you?
Not trying to be mean but why did she have the briskit put away for you? Not everyone got a briskit. It should be first come first serve. Am I wrong?
Because they have a big family. Food pantries usually save the bigger items for big families
This pantry does have some sections that are for larger families that have larger items. Like #10 cans of beans or the giant bags of cereal. The goal is to prevent any food from going to waste. Generally the meats are not separate. But ocassionally they get a bigger item like this or a whole turkey that they hold back for a bit for a larger family knowing it will be more likely to get fully used.
