You probably hear a BOV because the stock intake insulated the noise of the recirculation of the air. Aftermarket intakes usually do not do this as they are made of different materials.
A lot of places say you can get intakes without tunes required and get 10-15 HP and at least 5+ lbs of torque without a tune. Is this true, or would you just be giving your car more air than it needs if you don't tune it?
KNfilters- After drooling over the sound this makes I bought this exact kit. I installed it and I thought everything went smooth, however the sound it makes when I gun it sounds like the turbo is trying to play catch up. Perfectly healthy car and first add on-Is this normal or could something possibly be installed incorrectly? Thanks a bunch Ive had a K&N on every car (4) i've owned.

when its a turbo application it work's different from a NA/naturally aspirated motor. turbo vehicles need the air even if its hot for the turbo to suck and work more efficient then the intercooler process that air and sends it in motor hot air will rob a NA motor so you afto keep cool air friendly. btw its not that easy to disconnect the pipe from turbo you afto disconnect from bottom of tje vehicle fyi.
Not to be captain obvious here, but I see these "cold air intake" systems installed all the time and I can't help but wonder...don't these open air filter intakes inside the engine compartment draw hot air from under the hood instead of how most factory systems draw cooler air from outside the engine compartment? I have an Optima turbo and know that the cooler the air, the better! How can "cold air intake" even be true with this setup?
You're not cooling down the air from the outside. You're making it less restrictive. That's what the purpose of an intake is for. It's gonna pass through the intercooler anyways.

Virgilio Alford it will sound better anDat the top of the RPMS have a gain but daily driver uses 2500- 3500 rpm the most. The manufacturer i set up the intake to have max speed of airflow in the 2500-3500 range and keep the car quiet and not annoying

does this specific model fit a 2016 kia optima sxl turbo? i believe its the same motor but not sure if anything changed for this year. anybody know if it will fit?
They do have CAIs for 2015 Optimas..I have a 2015 optima lx too and I just replaced the stock filter with a KN filter instead of a CAI (costs a little too much for me).. I do notice a difference in mid-range gears and on takeoffs though im sure its not as substantial as a CAI..If you want to legally install a CAI then you probably just have to move out of California..
Why don't the car manufacturers do this from factory? They can make contract with K&N or just make their own. They should have plenty of money... Usually car buyers pay $1000 for 10hp increase when a newer model replaces older, even if no other changes are made to car.
+KNfilters Do you offer filters that don't make extra noise? I don't think it's hard to make that, noise is just vibration, noise doesn't affect power I think. Or is that a secret way KN is making extra power??? I definitely don't want to make extra noise
You are ignorant. This upgrade does a lot more then just add a few horses. You can hear the turbo spool better. Quicker response, quicker spool. Better fuel economy. Probably lighter too.
Watch tuner shops prove on dyno that there is no gain in HP.. Absolutely none.. Its equivalent to putting on an exhaust tip no gain all looks.. It breaths better only if your stock filter is dirty do the research

KNfilters that can't be right. My 2011 2.0T sonata dynoed at 245 horsepower at the wheels stock with 93 octane. Your turbo only got 190? Something seriously wrong there. That must have been the 2.4 motor. At 190 at the wheels your only pushing 220 horsepower.
KNfilters Agreed with everyone else. K&N is full of SHIT! Although the tutorial for the install is quite nice. The intake itself doesn't provide that much gain, but it's still better than stock intake. Is it worth it? Not for the price and for what you're using the vehicle for.

KNfilters cause the 2.4 stock is about 200 HP. 175 at the wheels.
