  • Cheap DIY Pet Fence
    In this video I installed a backyard dog fence to keep my puppies in. I used 3/4" PVC pipe, 3/4" rebar and mesh utility fence 4' x 50' with 2"x4" squares. This DIY dog pen was a quick and affordable solution for a temporary (maybe permanent) fence to contain my dogs and could work for all kids of pets, around your garden, as a goat fence. This fence wont hold aggressive dogs or dogs that want out. I also use layered protection-dog tags, invisible fence, training, never leaving my animals unattended and this for now.

      You could spend a little more and buy the wood post, but you'd have to DIY it cause install just drives the cost up.

      Absolutely, also look for old trampoline frames. I put my young puppies in that until they learned to climb out, that's why I had to build this. All you do is run some hardware cloth around it with zip ties!

    Awesome! I’m by myself as well, and my small dog gets back onto a 4’ slope at the back of my yard. It’s dirt and mud in most parts and he has a Napoleon Complex with the large dogs behind me. I’m SO SICK of pulling him out from behind the small fence I made, and taking him to the bathtub! Ground cover doesn’t grow fast enough to cover the dirt, so this is perfect! Thank you!!

    Good Morning Fran,
    Loved your ideas! Do you think a 6 ft fencing with PVC would work? We have hawks in my area, so I wanted the height so we could walk in area. Then put a tarp on top. Our puppies are only 5 lbs now, so wanted to protect puppies until they got bigger. Any ideas are well appreciated. Sue M

    • @OfficiallyFran
      @OfficiallyFran  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure, but I am planning on doing 6', my dogs are high jumpers. Although they have not jumped the fence yet I think once they figure out they can-they will-or even when they go into heat. My smaller dog-cookie is only about 5 pounds, and we have hawks in the area so I keep a close eye out on her. We also have a 10x10 kennel that's about 6' high and enclosed, we bought that from Tractor Supply it was about $500. Maybe that would make you feel more comfortable until they are bigger. Our kennel sits inside the DIY fenced area.
      One of the reasons I like this DIY fence version is that I can move the 4' section of the fence to my back yard, so no waste or difficult removal. I have 2 acres to fence in and this is the best budget friendly version I have found. I'll do something cute, like vinyl or privacy across the from sides for cub appeal. Hope this helps!

    Wow very cool! Do the dogs jump up onto the fence andjif so how does it hold up?

    • @OfficiallyFran
      @OfficiallyFran  2 роки тому +1

      Yes they do, and they tussle up against it. It had held up, I do have to to pound in the PVCpipe every so often. The poles are spaced 4-5' apart. I'm going to go back and put a pole in between each set and that will make it stronger. I'll do an update Thursday just for you!

    I already commented, but it’s time to do this in Michigan! What did you use to cut the rebar? I’m scared!! My dog is only 15 lbs, but he’s a brat! lol!

    • @OfficiallyFran
      @OfficiallyFran  2 місяці тому +1

      Ok, Let's Go! I used a Ryobi Grinder, it sparks so be careful. You could buy the bar in the shorter size, then you don't have to cut. It was cheaper for me to buy long pieces and cut down. Good luck, and be safe

      Thank you! That was fast! Is that like a Dremel?
      I have a Dremel multitool that has a metal saw on it, but I think I’ll buy them already cut.
      Speaking of rebar, my part-time bf wants me to fix my broken fence post (God forbid he’d do it!) by drilling a hole and putting a piece of rebar in the middle. Too much work for me, and I’m only 4’9”, and have severe Lyme and pain.
      Ha ha! I taped it together with brown packing tape and it stayed up all winter! He never knew! Lol!
      Thanks again❣️

    • @OfficiallyFran

      This type of fence worked for my 2 male cats. They are too big to bother climbing on it and don't jump 6 feet high. My female did climb it, but doesn't like to because I think the wire hurts her paws.
