I’ve been having an LG BX fully calibrated by quantum tv settings all of these years and I just bought the Samsung s90d and it blow me away out of the box. The LG BX didn’t blow me away but the Samsung s90d did, I can’t even imagine how it’s gonna look after calibrating it, this is a master tv still.
Thank you for presenting this about how the S90D brightness went down. I noticed this after about 8 weeks of owning mine. Spot on review about the other details.
@@DarkLionn83 I had a 77 inch S95C and to return it recently because of non stop black out issues and eArc issues while gaming on my ps5 on 4K @120. I’ll wait for the S95F.
Samsung customer support is a nightmare. My S90D died in less than 4 months and was such a hassle to deal with. Long story short I have the LG C4 now and couldn't be happier.
the S95D/S90D are great TV's if all you're watching is pristine 4K Blu-ray's or high bitrate content 24/7...but where it suffers in relation to LG and Sony OLED's is in their processing of lower bit rate material (which I'm guessing is the majority of content most people watch), motion and upscaling...Samsung needs to improve their processing
What are you taking about? Any content 720p and above the Samsung is flawless on. All TV in the last 15 years is 720 and above. If all you watch all day is Andy Griffith or Green Acres then sure ANY TV suffers from polishing a turd…
Hey Q, would love to see a breakdown of the S90D’s game motion plus feature. It’s supposedly the best motion smoothing you can find on tv’s specifically for gaming, as it still manages a low input lag with it enabled. Could you cover this?
Still very pleased with my s90D on 1201 firmware, but wish I had pulled it offline before when it was on 1100 or earlier because there was a noticeable drop in brightness like you mentioned. Do you think it’s worth unlocking the service menu to see if I can boost brightness back to original 1500 nits?
That's really the only thing I noticed too was the drop in brightness. When I first got it I initially thought it was too bright and after the update I was like wtf. Colors still look amazing. I also paired it with the 700 series sound bar and it's pretty badass. I wish I could swing the 900 but oh well. I'm thinking of going with their rear speakers. Quantum could you do a review of their sound bars?
Still got the early adopter firmware. Everyone is amazed by it. The two reasons I pay the premium early is for the panels and the firmware when buying Samsungs. Any idea what the nits were before they nerfed it?
You convinced me to never connect my s90d to the internet. Been at 1131 since I got it and am just going to use my Apple TV with it. Figured I’m not missing out on anything
hi quantum, do you have the S90C (first generation panel in my case)? I saw that there is a new version 2000 update, can you tell me if it makes the TV worse or if it can be installed?
@@Quantum_TV My point isn't that Eco mode is on. Simply, what if you changed the preset to cinema or something else, would the quality change for better or worse! I've been eying this TV and really want to see how it ages, hence why I checked your video
Hi sir, I’m currently facing an issue with my S90D and PC setup. Whenever I set the HDMI black level to high, I do see more black details, but the overall image looks noticeably washed out. However, when I switch it to low, the colors appear much more vibrant and natural. What could be causing this, and is there a way to maintain proper black detail without sacrificing color accuracy?
Tandem oled for example claims rgb color but it's not true rgb because it's subpixel type is woled. Quantum dots allow rgb layers to become true rgb without subpixel dilution.
I’ve been looking everywhere for some proper gaming calibration on this particular tv for consoles but it seems I am out of luck up until now at least. If someone can help that would be much appreciated

What picture settings you guys use or calibrate?

@VivaLaFamous Oh yeah, I have heard about the blackouts
My s95c is just fine 🙂 with my ps5, so I really like it
Still rocking 1066 firmware on mine, I’ll be happy for the next few years with what I got

@@Quantum_TV is 1201 a better firmware than 1301?
I’m still hanging on to 1201 😊

How is the picture quality difference? I got the 77 s90d but thinking of the 83 c4
I have a Samsung S90C and my next tv will definitely be an LG or Panasonic 🎉
Shame. I have the S89C and had nothing but perfect performance from it.

Can’t wait for the update setting you have for 1301
I love mine.
I run Apple TV. No updates. It’s been perfect
I so look forward to a settings update but it’s harder when Samsung nerfs it. Thank you Q for any update possibility
It’s horrible that they would nerf a tv

I paid the premium to early adopt and still on 1100. It's a shame Samsung does this.
I have the S90d and it is definitely worth it in 2025👍
Obviously the S90D is still better than than the LG C4 but… does anyone know if it’s still brighter after the latest firmware nerf ?
Thoughts on Samsung adding the matte finish to every one of their high end models for 2025?
Should ONLY be an option and not forced on us 🎉
This
Can’t Samsung be sued for this ?

Why are the software updates actually downgrades ??? I will NEVER understand SAMSUNG 😬
What are your thoughts on the mid/higher end OLEDs with or without Dolby Vision?
Unlocked my brightness in service menu so I’m getting 1400 nits peak hdr. Disconnected from the internet too so no more updates
What did you to to achieve this?
Yeah. I just ordered an s90d and I’m hoping I can do this in case mine shipped with the new firmware.
Waiting for your next drip my man 🔥
I am on 1120. That’s what it was at at when purchased.
If I buy a new S90D will they come with the new updates from factory? Or will they come with the old software before they nerfed the Tvs?
They come with the old ones
@@MVP-JB I wouldn't count on that. Mine came with 1100 early. My bud got it during the big sale a couple months back and was on 1200
Anything's better than a matte screen
hi quantum, do you have the S90C (first generation panel in my case)? I saw that there is a new version 2000 update, can you tell me if it makes the TV worse or if it can be installed?
I got gen 1 s90c, its great update,no nerfing,better stabiland its faster
No only the s90d
Hey quantum, do i need to have this tv professionally calibrated or is out of the box good?
Does Sony nerf their TVs with their updates?
That matte screen cover does suck doesn't it?
@quantum in your opinion should I wait for s90f since not going to be nerf. Or get the s90d. I really want your opinion
I'd wait. The brightness was limited too much via patches
I’m buying a new TV in less than a week. What would you choose between 77” S90D or 65” S95D?
77 S90D
65 inch, the larger models are WOLED and not QDOLED which is the point of getting one of these
77 is not WOLED
@ even with the recent firmware nerf?
Im on 1201 update, should i consider the newer update?
No. It's only downhill from there
@ Thank you. :)
Yes it is
