Nice Cuckoo Clock. It is a very small one. You make a good job. Best Reguards from Germany

Yes, the small clock is difficult to work on with old, clumsy hands.

Normally the lift lock lever has got bent on you and that is why it only cuckoos one time. This happens when the clock hands are turned backwards when the clock is cuckooing. Rack and snail movements are designed for the hands to be turned backwards but not when the clock goes into warning or when it is cuckooing. Glad that you discovered that it was too close to the case. That is why they call them cuckoo clocks because you can go cuckoo trying to figure them out and why most clock repair people dont want to work on them. So great job. Great video.

That's not what happened here. I didn't know that, before I was sent the clock, another person had put in a new movement. It turned out the new movement was slightly different in dimensions or the old movement had the mounting tabs bent to keep the the movement further back from the back of the front case panel. The new movement, in either case was slightly further forward, causing the very tip of the rack tail to catch on the case, resulting in the rack failing to fall. That's why it worked fine out of the case on a test stand, but not in the case. Placing 1/32" shims in the case moved the movement enough toward the rear to free the rack tail. Nothing was bent. New movement just didn't fit like the old one.
BTW, I read your channel description and saw that you were Air Force. I was, too. 1962 - 1966. Korean linguist. Korea 1963-64. Last station was Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. I've been repairing clocks since 1968 and just received my Member of the Golden Circle for NAWCC membership for 50 years.

@@dperry428 that new movement going in explains why one of the bellows had come loose.

Turns out this one had a new movement put in it. I just wasn't made for the case.
