Thank you for doing this video. Im allergic to acrylic nails so only do gel x. I have subscribed xxx
To drill off your nails, you should use a different bit, not a sanding band. I suggest using a carbide bit or a ceramic cone bit.
I thought the same, the blue ceramic one is the one.
Hi thank you for that tip! I will definitely order that bit asap 🫶🏻
I heard theyre not good for beginners cause they can cut and cause serious damage
Hey, great video and your voice is so calming! Just wondering if you find your natural nails become damaged from frequently applying fake nails? I know this is an issue for a lot of people but your natural nails looked very healthy.
I think the biggest reason my natural nails are damaged is because i have naturally super thin nails. I’ve tried growing them out but they just crack so easily 😭
@@nailsbysion Honestly your nails looked quite healthy to me, but I used to have the same problem of naturally thin nails. I started making my own cuticle oil years ago which made a HUGE difference. I just melt down beeswax and add a bunch of oils to it (apricot oil, almond oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, etc.) and some lanolin. Its very greasy but using it each day before bed I saw a difference in my nail strength quite quickly. I've used cuticle oils from the store to improve nail strength but none of them have been nearly as effective my DIY recipe.
omg thank you for your tip! I will definitely try it at home 🥹
some advice!! using foils to soak off the gel is still called a soak off - and the bit you’re using to drill the gel down should ideally be a coarse tapered bit to speed up the process. You should also make sure that when removing gems from the nails, you don’t remove them using the drill. To safely remove gems you need to use some cuticle nippers (ideally a different pair of nippers than you’d use for your actual cuticle) because holding your drill on the gems in the same area for that long can damage the nail bed and cause rings of fire.
Another thing - your nails may be strong (i’m not saying they’re not) but the reason why you’re struggling to remove them is not because of that, it’s because of two reasons: 1. you didn’t file down the gel enough before soaking in acetone - for gel to soak off it needs to be drilled down to a thin level, and 2. you didn’t leave them to soak enough girl! you should be leaving them for about 15-20 minutes
Hi I was wondering which brand nails do you use.
i use Born Pretty or Beetles for my gel polishes but other than that stuff from amazon.
I've started using poly gel and they don't stay on. Just ping off. 😔
Do you use a primer?
no ~ i stopped using primer after having my nails pop off in the first hour of applying them 💀 maybe it was just the wrong brand haha
I had the same issue. I guess primer is hit or miss for some people. I heard the young nails primer is bomb tho. I’m gonna try that one and see how it goes :)
File then soak

"this is what makes my nails last longer like 80% of it is just this e-file" So, you are telling me that your first tip to make my nails last longer is to buy a 90$ e-file... yeap... I'm gone.
I’m here to tell you. It’s true 😂. I have tried sooooo hard not to buy one. But it’s over for my ass. I got one. I literally used every product my nail tech used. EXCEPT the e file. And my nails just won’t stay period. So here we are. I’m validating that the e file is it 😂. It helps seal the cuticle and etches the inside of the nail so well. My regular file could never.
In my nail class, we are taught to do everything by hand before we go over to e-filing because a nail tech is supposed to know the ins and outs of a file as well as an e-file.
It's quite possible to make your nails last without an e-file if you know proper nail prep. Trust me. It takes a bit longer but it helped me out a few times when I wasn't able to use an e-file.
@@Jarc590 yea I think it just takes time and practice. I was only able to get my nails to stay for 5 days once 😂. And that was with a file.
I bought a 14 dollar e file and it works fine for me, doesn't have to be 90. Also, i made my nails last a week and a half without it
this is actually wrong! i have a cheap e file and my sets last me 4 weeks +. It’s all in the prep and application process! You just need to make sure that you’re removing all dead skin, dehydrating & priming, and applying the extensions carefully. What made a difference for me personally as a nail tech is that I started sealing the cuticle of the nail after applying my tips with a medium grit tapered ceramic bit - this will make all the difference girl. don’t worry about the price of your products - it’s all in your technique 💗🫶🏼
