So far only shinies on my main character. Sold the first, which was a kinda crappy gloom. Kept the second, which is a surprisingly usable (in PvE, anyway) Electrode, with 25 sp, 31 SpAtk, 25 hp, 21 SpDef, 11 Def, and 1 Atk. Caught it as a little Voltorb just playing through kanto (I started with Hoenn as my first region).
If you just started that is huge, i reccomend not selling shinies because they are not a worth in terms of money for the time spent and rarity to get them, shinies are cool if they end up being useful utility mons or use them to fight, but i wouldnt sell them either if they had bad stats or moves, of course this is just a suggestion but do whatever makes you enjoy the game

How did the guy know the Rotom was shiny when it first cracked?
Because he was egg hunting only rotom, and the egg animation only activates when there is a shiny in the egg that hatched
