I hate this version. The original temp showed evas passion exciment and haste at getting to europe as soon as possible! This is just a slow drudge! Eva was was 26 when she went on the tour fullifiling a dream. Where is the exciment the rush to get ready???? This is just dull. I refer of course to the staging. No disrespect to the performers xx
I agree the OBC, L.A late London and 1st UK tour tempo was more pacier and worked better than the OLC recording and this version. like you said it lack urgency and excitement.
Even the grainy footage of lupone ,who I am not a fan of, completely destroys this. Are there no young performer on broadway that can hold a candle to lupone.
It's extremely rude and immature to compare her to people like Patti. No one can compare to her so stop. Plus in this performance it was an understudy. Give her a break! I don't see you all on Broadway

I agree with Hefin. Tempo kills this number. Also, she's locked in to Roger's interpretation. Just horrid. The costume, when taken out of context of the entire show, IS drab...but fits into the costume plot. In my ever so humble opinion, theater goers don't want to see Reality Show Evita....they want the fantasy. Save the other for a docudrama on Lifetime.
She's beautiful enough for the part and her voice is powerful enough for the part as well. Win-win!

@Adam Efimoff She is an incredible person. I was able to see a show she directed in florida. She is exceptionally talented

Well, you're right the white one was use in France but the one from the original was use in Argentina, both are accurate

Whoever directed this number needs to be fired. It's SO Boring compared to Hal Prince's original staging.
