21.21 I have never welded before but It sounds like you would want to see that Amperage on a "Heads-up Display"
HIT:> INVENT IT! Bluetooth to Helmet.
ESAB, the Best machine!!!!! ua-cam.com/video/-eUbQBpqiIc/v-deo.html
Weld.com does this machine weld with electrodes, and if so where to get it and at what price ?
@@lordstv7773 I think your asking if it stick welds. The answer is yes and you can get it at your local welding distributor.
Finally someone has properly explained the Volts/Amps/wire speed relationship PROPERLY.
Thank you!
I agree. No one explained it better! Others said that WFS controls amperage but never explained it in this manner. Someone once said and I don't remember when, that the arc length is like a resistor (longer arc = higher resistance). With a constant voltage, a longer arc = higher resistance = lower amperage (ohm's law). Now if I can only figure out what voltage setting is needed for a specific job needing a specific puddle width.
I've been watching countless welding videos trying to grasp the concepts. I'm an electrician and this is the first time anyone has mentioned volt amp relationship! I had an ah hah moment. Wire speed makes sence now.
Hi. I just wanted to say that I am an experienced welder (all processes) and decided to watch this as a refresher for an interview I have coming up, and you did a wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Give this fella a pay rise! Well spoken and easy to understand and a bit of humour that helps keep you engaged in what he’s teaching. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it
As always, this guy never fails to provide a thorough and detailed instruction on welding topics. Thanks! 👍🏼
Learned how to do most of this stuff 18 years ago. Had a job where I used very little of my mechanic skills. Forgot nearly everything. This channel is great! It's basically like free vocational school. This guy teaches just like my old instructor and really breaks it down including safety and some tips you won't find in an instruction manual.
Hi ya love the videos, it’s been 37 years since I done my training as a welder and I have forgot a lot of stuff but after watching your videos. I want to take it up again, so I’ll look forward to more great viewing for the future weeks.
Same here, I completed my apprenticeship in 2008 then never welded again after that I'm now looking to get back into it and it's amazing how much I've forgotten
Great tutorial for machine setup. Very easy to follow. Thank you guys. I get to weld about 80% aluminum (with a spool gun and argon) and 20% mild steel (MIG with compressed NOS). It's been a lot of on the job training/trial and error, get the different machines dialed in for the best results. I greatly appreciate the content you guys put out, for filling in the gaps of my knowledge. There have been MAJOR improvements to my work, because of watching and applying the techniques. Enough so to see about $3 increase in my hourly, over just over 2 years. Again, thank you very much.
I am a beginner welder and I appreciate how you explain it better than my teacher. Please post more videos.thanks
You guys are awesome! This video helped me solve three different issues I've been having while using my flux core 110v machine and they were all related to improper machine setup! Thank you.
Just spent my first day of self instruction, aka “fail, learn, improve”. I have watched this video once before but, now that I have spent a day applying what I have learned, I’m glad I reviewed this video for next time. Thanks for this great resource!
Clear and easy to follow, excellent for those starting. It's great how you are relevant to new and veteran welders.
Frankie Dontas thanks for watching, I appreciate the feedback.
I've never welded with mig, but since I'm about to start fabricating my own camper trailer for my Jeep, this video was exactly what I needed to get me started, not to mention other videos from your channel to help me learn how to use mig. That's a sub from me :)
the whole "hotdog down a hallway" reference really put that into perspective for me lol, great video!
Dude, Thank you! 21:25 on is exactly what I was looking for. Your videos are always great. I wish I would have watched this video first. It would have saved me hours of watching other youtube videos that were nowhere near as comprehensive as this one. Keep it up, thank you.
Doing a class in college, and I needed to make a list on how to set up a MIG welder. This video helped a ton thanks.
Top notch explanation. I can apply it to my welder and do just fine. This video is for everybody. Thank You!
Seriously one of the easiest to follow beginners guide on MIG I've ever watched.

"Small hammer" *grabs wrench* yep, he's definitely a tradesman.
Everything is a hammer if you believe in it
I call it a "persuasion device" if it it should move, but doesn't, use a bigger one, and use stronger words
Lol he's a scab. But I gotta admit everything is a drill if you use it wrong enough 😜
Lol, I was just about to comment the same thing
I usually use an acetylene torch to heat it up then it comes right off
I am a self-taught welder and I strive to get better every time I weld. The volt/Amp/wire-speed relationship, I didn't even know existed. The knob for wire-speed was for wire-speed, or so I thought. That bit of info will definitely help me to make better welds. I find it odd that for as long as I have been welding, that relationship has never ever been mentioned by anyone. In the video when you got to the part that mentioned this, I was like WAIT, WHAT. I played it over about 4 times. Great stuff.
That was a very informative video, and it covered a lot of questions I would normally have.
Thank you for the video. You’re a great instructor. I know it’s probably not the most fun to do a set up video but it does help us out. So thanks for taking that time.
No problem Brandon. Thanks for watching.
Brandon R I actually enjoy doing videos like this. It seems to help a lot of people out.
this big guy is soo damn good in his presentation lol truly a profound and experienced technical guy it's safe to say. i don't mind watching lengthy tutorial videos if the way how they're presented are absolutely watch-worthy unlike some other total rambling about past stories and not cutting to the chase right away.
One of the top MIG 101 setup / overview I have seen yet. Thanks!
Wow! My brain is burning! I had many "What did he just say?" moments; as a beginner! Thank you for this video!
Tap the left side of the screen to repeat a few seconds. After his videos sometimes have @ blister on me index finger
Thanks. You have answered several questions that were in the back of my mind at 16 minutes. Great video!
Jeffry Blackmon glad we could help out.
Very nice, straightforward intro to setting up an ESAB Mig gun. Great job!
Does that machine have ESAB'S "Smart MIG" feature? Love to have your opinion of that.
Wow, you pretty much covered everything there is to it. I love the video. Thank you.
Thank you for a great and clear video. You are a good teacher. Will save this video for the next time I try out my mig.
Chuck Thomas thanks for watching and thanks for the compliment.
I just found you channel. Home DIYer looking to get into welding here. Awesome video. Will be checking out more of your stuff.
This is a real classroom and the instructor explanations are clear, it gets to the point fast & precisely; I’ve learned allot today, Thanks so much.
I have had a holbart 120 handler 120 since 1995, never any thing but flux core. Got serious this year bought a pro plus 200 earlier this year. Also rented a bottle of 92/8, it makes great welds.
However I still like flux core, really cooks now I have a 220 machine.
I always weld like it's the last bead I'll ever make.
Yeah shorts, tee shirt, oh and sandles 🌵
As long you have sock and sandles you are doing good and looking good on the job lol..
I really appreciate this channel. Thanks so much for the fantastic videos!
The wire feed drive roller adjustment method you used, the 4" diameter circle test, was a timeless trick-of-the-trade one only gets from a Master. Thanks!
Yes that 4" wire trick is the best one of all. Geoff Lewis Wales UK 🏴
Good information. I have a Lincoln 210 MP. The mother board had to be replaced. When a got my welder back from the repair shop, I could figure out why it wasn't welding correctly. I thought about buying a new welder but, after watching your video, you mentioned the making sure the mig gun hose was seated properly. Since I hadn't removed it I figured it was seated correctly. It turns out the shop that repaired my welder didn't seat it properly. After correcting this issue it works fine.
I love the 4" dia. wire curl method to tension drive rollers! Once again I couldn't make it all day without learning something new. And once again it happened here. Damnit!
Lee Barnhart glad we could provide a little knowledge for you this evening.
Brand new MIG machine in the workshop, thanks for a really clear setup video. Excellent content.
A fantastic beginners guide video. I am new to mig welding and having watched it once, I was able to dial in the machine!!! Thank you guys!!!
Also I like the humor you have been bringing to the channel
swissmochaj we like to have fun with it as well as make it Educational.
I learned how to weld with an electrode 40 years ago. As soon as I entered to my postgraduate I left it. I didn’t know how to start with mig. Many thanks for this video since I don’t plan to go back to school to learn a trade when I just need a hobby.
Never welded before and looking to get into it. All I have to say is Wow this video was so informative!
One of the main things to remember when you first start welding is that initially the process seems so violent that most people want to feed or move along too fast and their bead quality is non-existent or really suffers. Make sure that you're really comfortable, focus on your puddle, and slow down even if you think you're going slow enough slow down and watch your puddle for signs you need to move faster. Good luck my friend.
This video was better than what the pro Mig 180 came with. Good instructions. Thank you. Haven't welded in 32 years but with your video it makes it easier for us middle-aged guys. You rock. Thank you thank you
Even I am not a welder I want to thank you because I like to learn everything!
What a wow! This is called a step by step system of explanation. Master and teacher indeed.
I'm not a welder but man, excellent explanations and why you need to know. I am seriously into DIY cars, and have thought about fabricating my own tubing. This was an amazing amount of info in a well thought out delivery. Excellent examples. Actually looks like fun the way he explains it.
Dude, you are a legend... You are the only one I've ever encountered that can set up the feed rollers, spool brake and feed the wire through without connecting the machine to the mains supply.
Thank you sir! I am not sure if it can get better than that. I have absolutely zero welding experience but with teachers like you I should soon be fabricating with confidence. Once again, thank you!
Sir you are an outstanding instructor. You have really opened my eyes. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Hello Jason, another great video on starting to set up the mig machine and mig gun. Brilliant advice, I am not a professional welder, just someone who likes to weld. Being a Joiner, its different. Please keep your videos coming. Best wishes, Geoff Lewis, Wales, UK 🏴🏴🏴
absolutely love this type of videos. That guy explains everything really well. thanks! :)
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching
BikeBreakers Supermoto vs Enduro thanks for the feedback, we have a lot more planned for you all. Stay tuned.
Damn right sir. Good job Santa.
Agreed
By far THE MOST INFORMATIVE video I've watched. I don't even weld. I've never welded. Don't own a welder. But I'm getting interested in it and I'm so happy that I ran across this video and channel. Thank you!
Great newbie video. I learned several things as always. Thanks Jason!
Kevin Lee thanks for watching.
I did learn something, the set up for the argon tank. I learned a little about welding in sculpture class and loved it. I want one for myself at home. I doing my research about it before purchasing one. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Fortunate and glad to be a member of your channel for knowledge ❤️
I have my 1st class at a trade school for welding in a month and I'm trying to learn the most I can, So this video is most educational.
Finally, somebody who can tell a cameraman what to do. Proper attention to details.
Thanks I'm welding for almost 25 years and a found this very helpful keep up the good work 👍🏼
After a lifetime of arc welding, the co-relation of wire feed speed to amperage was the hardest thing to get my head around. Well explained!
nigel Mc Hugh thanks man a lot of people think that voltage controls the heat. I did too for the longest time before I started digging deeper into welding.
Very informative. Your style of teaching is very good. Thanks for sharing. I liked your comment about the more you weld the more you realize how much you you don't know. Been doing my job for 37 years and now that I am older I realize I have so much to learn. Enjoed the video. Keep up the good work. This kind of information is helpful to many people.
Don't forget to head over to Instagram to enter the contest! Take a screenshot of the video and use #weilerwednesday!
As a total welding noob this was a fantastic video - thank you!
goofsaddg gkle glad we could help out.
Great video Red Beard! Thanks for what y’all do.
Hi Mate, , That for me is the best tutorial I have ever watched on mig welding.....what more do you want? The Big Viking explains every aspect , security, and proper ways to treat and respect industrial equipment. I am hoping to get into a class at the Belfast technical college this autumn and have been watching vids like crazy....yours is the only one I hit the sub button on.... SAVED TO ....THE BEST OF THE BEST. Thanks again. Karl
I feel like I'm right there in the shop with you. Good information!
Highly educational video, very nice set up, thanks for sharing, I start welding in 1968 still enjoying doing it very much, never to late to learn something new,Safety above everything you do relate to welding to have a long and exciting career, keep up the good work 👍
Thx for the video. Just starting out and thx for the basics. I look forward to more of your vids.
Just got ESAB Caddy 160...since I'm a Noob.. This vid was awesome dude!!! 👍
One thing though about garden hose though if compared 2 electric.
Voltage=flow
Amp= pressure
Love the "new" host!
Would be great to have one of these videos for the even cheaper flux-core non gas welders. I know they're far from ideal, but attractive value for a home hobbyist on a budget doing non-structural work.
Ive ben welding fr 38 years now . Use gasless wire more than solid wire . It deals with dirt n rust way better than solid wire . Gotta remember to run straight polarity for gasless wires ! Ive had other welding shops come to me and ask ta borrow my welder cause it runs better than thers . If you dont run straight polarity like your supposed to it runs like ass ! Got a lot of basics fr gasless wire on my channel . Look fr The Weldor on you tube . Pic a my boxer dog with yellow safety glasses ! Goid tips like how to remember polarity ! First thing i teach my guys is how ta spell the dam word WELDOR right ! Welder is the machine ! I reset my phone . God dam google wont let me sign back in . Left wing bastards any how ! Be safe !
Excellent video. Your a great teacher and cover the material in a very engaging way. I will be using it to help introduce my students to the MIG welding process.
Well done, Sir!
Enjoyed the review but with some knew learning. Thank you Great job
Thanks for a very thorough and comprehensive video. I'm sure you have saved me lots of money, time and aggravation
Thanks brother for the in depth tutorial. I definitely needed it. Love from South Africa.
Excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to explain the Mig preparation process.
I was looking for the internal mechanics of welders. How it works like the components if you could make a video of that I'd appreciate it
Decent video, the only thing I think you should have mentioned was soap bubble testing the gas fittings both at the bottle where the regulator attaches and the hose connections. I've seen tiny leaks from a tapered fitting not being snugged up enough even thought it "felt" good. Also worth noting is that on a high pressure gas cylinder(C25, C100, Argon, Oxygen, etc), there is an upper sealing seat in the valve and you should always unscrew the valve all the way until it seats to prevent any gas seeping around the packing on the stem, and always shut the bottle off completely when you're done welding before leaving it unattended. Nothing worse than coming back to an empty bottle. It's generally good practice with all gas cylinders to make sure they're off when you're done, especially those that pose fire or explosion risk. Solid information for a beginner other than that, great content on this channel among others out there like [WeldingTipsAndTricks]. I have learned a ton of information from these channels that rapidly accelerated my welding skills to the point where a 20 minute crash course with a friend who welds for a living had me laying down beads better than some of his seasoned co-workers. The knowledge gained from your channel and those like it was absolutely the key to me being able to pick it up so quickly. I've even learned some things over time from watching educational videos that some older seasoned guys didn't know. Keep up the content!
Good points 👍 Thanks for watching
As a teenager working for my father for the summer at Vulcan Materials in Fairfield Alabama I made build up wells approximately 1/2 inch puddle welds 4 feet across a round cylinder inside a Rock Crusher. Being the kid with no seniority or course they gave me the shift of 11 PM til 7am I was the only person at the plant since this was the maintenance shift. My girlfriend came and we drank Jack Daniel and smoked a couple of joints got laid in her car and she left and I went back to welding. And sometime from when I started welding until hearing a wrench hit the side of the Crusher from Mr Gurley the Superintendent who had thrown it and screaming and cussing I came out of my nap or should I say being passed out State. He was mad as a hornet! Prior to each shift a new Roll of wire was used so they expected it to be used on the Crusher but On passing out welding and obviously the arc of feed making contact with the Roller inside the Crusher the entire Roll of wire was the biggest Bird Nest you couldn’t imagine. Mr Gurley was so mad and he fired me several times before I got down off the catwalk. By the the day shift arrived and my Father being a Marine in World War 2 to say the least fired me again! I’ve never been fired so many times in one shift of work. I gave Welding but really appreciate the professionalism of those who do it. I’m now retired after 30 years as a Plumber and always use a Pipe Fitter down if I need a welding project. Enjoy your in depth tutorial on welding. I’m 70 yrs old now and will never weld but have the upmost respect for those with your Skill.
Best set up video on the Tube 👌🏻 Well done and thanks guys!
Great job, very informative and well presented.
Bloody fantastic vid!!!!!!!!!! Heeeeeeeeeeaps of awesome tips that I never even considered before. Thanks for sharing mate.
Im getting in welding im 25 . Thank you for your very Good Video.
was only going to watch first few mins but you explained it that good i watched all threw. great job
Clear concise and to the point. Good humour and a damn fine beard. What more could you ask for?
Thank you so much sir, from 🇵🇭
The most informative video I’ve seen yet. Great work!
This man is such a professional.
Thank you man ! at the moment I do not use MIG just MMA , but in the future hope to buy an semiprofessional MIG welding machines for home use ! you are good adviser !
Thanks for this tutorial, guys...just starting out...so this helps heaps!!
Thanks for this training video. It's excellent.
In which port do you connect your electrode holder when you want to Arc weld? And what will happen to the short cable from the machine connected to the positive port right now?
EXCELLENT VIDEO , LEARNED SO MUCH ON SETTING MY MACHINE , THANK YOU !
Excellent video. Very concise and definitely informative without any of the useless garbage one finds in other videos. Very cool!
Thank you for sharing!!!
Need to see more of this guy
Excellent explaining ! cannot be better...thanks!
That is an awesome video. i know nothing about welding and that helped a lot.
Many thanks ! very clearly explained especially the wire speed and amperage stuff . Excellent !
Dude your awesome I just started in the World shop used to be machinist I enjoy manual machining but all these shops are all CNC so I got bored thought I’d give welding a shot and man your videos are pretty good
At first you were gonna use the gnurled drive wheel for the solid core I saw that !!!! :) great video man extremely informative
Can you do an intro video on an everlast mig welder please? I want to buy one soon and that would help me.
I have one of these machines in my workshop.. such a brilliant little welder
