  • Most travelers & tourists take the Metro in Paris. But I enjoy taking the local, city buses when traveling in Paris. I get to discover more of the City of Lights this way. The first time I rode the bus by Notre Dame, my heart sped up! Only in Paris do you get to ride cross the Seine, stop in front of Saint Chapelle and pass the Eiffel Tower in the distance on an inexpensive bus ride!

    Thanks so much. Headed to Paris this week, my first time with a disability. I will need buses instead of Metro that I have always used. This is very helpful!

      Thanks for acknowledging my work on this video. Yes. I organized lots of clips I took over the several trips I made. Plus, formulating the right tone and information I wanted to share that's different than other videos out on YT. I wanted to make it enjoyable even for viewers not planning a trip so I did it in a vlog format. As always, hope you are well and thanks for all your support and friendship.

      So glad you enjoyed it and saw that I wanted to make this a "nice to watch" video of a side of Paris not many travelers attempted. Thank you for your kind comments, always.

    Thank for a very detailed and very informative information. Riding the bus in Paris is the most comfortable way to go around the city. Using the metro demands a very long walk.
    Thank you.

      The key is to know where you are going and familiarize yourself with the stops you want to get off. When you start your conversation with Bonjour, I find most people are very willing to help. 🤗 Thank you for your comment and watching.

    This is so informative and helpful. My husband and I are going to Paris first week of October and staying at one of the hotels in Montparnasse. We’re in our 70’s and decided to take buses as we’re not comfortable taking metro. Does bus #96 (which you showed on your video) go to areas of attractions like Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and neighborhoods like Montmarte, Les Marais, Latin Quarter and back? TIA.

    • @Gadgetlily
      @Gadgetlily  Місяць тому

      So excited for you. Paris is lovely early October. Bus 96 final stop is Gare de Montparnese. Along the way, it will cross over the Seine, stop by St. Michael which is Latin Quarter and go on to near Hotel de Ville and St. Paul. (Hotel de Ville is not a hotel but government offices and Tourist Information Center. St. Paul will lead you to Le Marais as you wonder the cobble walks/maze of narrow streets.) I usually stay at the Oberkampf neighborhood and Bus 96 goes to the Bastille and Republic area before heading toward my neighborhood. Bus 96 does not go to the Lourve nor Montmarte nor Eiffel Tower. The Hotel de Ville stop is a good transfer point to get to the Lourve. You can look up the best connections to take for Eiffel Tower. As I recall, Metro is still the better option to take for Effiel Tower.
      I’m excited for you and your husband for your trip. Please be very vigilant with your belongings when in busy and high tourist attractions. And say Bonjour to your bus driver!!! Write me again if you have other questions and after your trip! Love to hear.

    Here's one more tip: If you don't see buses, check the bus sign pole and there are routes served at the stop. You'll see the estimated arrival time under the route number. Also, if the indicators are blank, buses are not running or haven't left the garage. Check the map and timetable at the stop.

    Thank you for the video. Do we have to tap our Navigo card again when we get off the bus ?

    • @Gadgetlily
      @Gadgetlily  6 місяців тому

      No. You do not need to tap “off” in Paris. Only tap or validate once when you get on. Btw, some countries bus systems do require tap on and off. That’s to determine the distance of travel and the fare is based on how far you are riding the bus. In Japan and Taiwan, buses require tap on and off, for example. Thanks for your question.

    When I validate the ticket going inbound bus 96. When I want to ride the same bus outbound, do I need to validate a new ticket ?

    • @Gadgetlily
      @Gadgetlily  2 місяці тому

      Yes, you need a new ticket. The validation is only good for transferring to another bus but in the same inbound direction. You can transfer to another bus but has to continue inbound. And that is good for 90 mins. from the first validation to the last. If you use the Navigo Easy pass, it will make that allowance automatically without charging another ride fee. Think of it as directional. I often did this when I was in Paris: When I take bus 96 outbound. My final destination is the second to the last stop. But I decided to get off for a brief stop at the third stop to pick up something quick. Within the 90 min. time, I catch another outbound bus 96 to continue my trip. Once I am done at my final destination, I take an inbound bus 96 home. I have to pay for another ticket for this ride. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the video. Can I use a Navigo pass to validate for two persons when getting on a bus?

      @@Gadgetlily Thanks for your quick response. In this case, will I rather purchase 10 actual tickets instead and use 2 tickets for two of us each time we get on a bus?

    • @Gadgetlily
      @Gadgetlily  6 місяців тому +1

      The base pass is 2 euros. I liked the convenience of it. I also kept the Navigo Easy pass as a souvenir. I loaded 10 rides for my 5 day trip and it worked really well for me. I did end up reloading 2 more rides onto the pass at the end. What you mentioned will work too if you decide not to get the Navigo Easy and just use individual tickets.
