- I'm thoroughly enjoying using my new label maker that I featured in my Hema Stationary Haul Video an so I thought I'd show how to use label maker. I've been labelling everything! K's school books are looking lovely with some vintage style black and white labels on a kraft paper cover.

Why did we choose to Homeschool?
K's school closed down in February (2017) because there weren't enough students to keep it open. So whilst we waited to find out if she got a place in another school, we home schooled so she wouldn't miss out on learning. Unfortunately, the school we chose was full to the brim and so there was no space for K. We decided to Home School permanently or until there's any space for K. So here we are, starting our home school journey!
Here's a little info you might find useful:
I am mum to K.
K is 7 years old and currently in Year 3.
We are studying KS2 and are from the UK.

I just picked up the exact same label maker at Dollar Tree for $1.25; and for the life of me I could NOT figure out how this one works. I've used these kinds of label makers in the past; back in the old days this was the only label maker there was. But it was a different kind of handheld device. The original ones held the tap inside. I was clueless as to how this thing worked. Because it was a Dollar Tree item (JOT line); there were absolutely NO instructions that came with it whatsoever. And I knew that had to be a button on the backside but couldn't figure out what it did; and didn't want to break the machine if I pushed too hard.

@@irenem5 ironically, Dollar Tree sells the label makers but not the tape, lmao! You can buy on Amazon for pretty cheap though. Just look for the size 3/8".
I was so annoyed that there were literally not instructions and they didn’t sell tape. Just ordered from Amazon and thankfully it works

This is so very helpful. Thank you for all of the clear visuals and the simple presentation. I didn't listen to the audio but I very much appreciated the visuals of this tutorial. I have the same style label maker and same style tape, and I really wanted to know how to get it loaded up and get going with it. It is so simple.

Thank you! It was a really cheap but awesome find. It had zero instructions and you did a beautiful job explaining how to open and load the tape. I couldn't figure it out.

Your video is helping me in 2022 as our local Dollar Tree just got this label maker in stock, but it does not have instructions - or tape - but I can probably use regular label maker tape. thank you.

first thank you for the video ! I've bought the exact same one and haven't even realize it had the CUT option (even i saw the scissors symbol.....)
I seem to have a problem and I don't know really how to insert the tape in a "clean" way, mine is always kinda "dented" and marked in white because of the little snip of white plastic, does the tape has to be under it or on it (if that makes sense)
anyway, i don't know why i can't do it properly and there is always a white line on my labelled dark tape :(

I just bought one exactly like this with no brand name on it as in the video (but it's states Jot on the package) at Dollar Tree. I came to UA-cam to look for a video about it & found this video. I see I need to purchase the reel of tape. I didn't see it readily available at DT & I see others stated DT doesn't carry it. Also, the button you push on the bottom to release the alphabet disk is inoperable .... it's only a plug. Thanks

Do you have tips for when the tape doesn't stick to the surface? Mine always peels off even if I clean the surface.
I wish you've shown where to press when you've started labeling the tape. Do I press at the back or at the neck of the handle?

Hello! Yes you can use it on tupperware. I have used it on my son's water bottle he takes to school. Just make sure that the container is completely dry before you stick the label down. It will be fine to wash by hand. The label will stay on for quite some time before it will need replacing due to everyday use and wear and tear. I hope that helps x

Wish has them in different colors, just type 'label maker' and it should pop up.

Yes it does. It also has a hyphen and yes the letters are always white.
If you want to use it for email addresses you have to switch wheels because lower case has no . and uppercase has no @. Thanx for the video.

that tape stick on satin?
I'm not sure as I've never tried it but have used them as name tags on t shirts. They will stick for a while but if they are taken off and then stuck back on again, then they don't really stay put.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been very active on my channel. To do spaces you need to click once lightly and it will create a space for you. I hope that helps :)

How do I do a space bar on it?
To make a space in between words press the lever very lightly so that the tape moves along without embossing the letter. To emboss a letter the lever needs to be pressed down firmly so if you don’t do this then you’ll be able to move the tape along to create a space. Hope that helps x
Is the tape waterproof?
Yes it is! I've used it on my son's water bottle and the tape was fine when I washed it.
Hi do these work on velvet?
Hi, this is a label maker and comes with tape so it can be embossed with the letters on the wheel. If you’re asking whether you can stick the label onto velvet then I don’t think it would stick as well as it would do on surfaces like glass, wood, or paper. Hope that helps x

@@nishatkhan1010 Yes, they won't stick. I tried sticking them onto a t-shirt to use as name tags and eventually they kept falling off.

I use the one's that came in the pack with the sticky backing. I'm sure other tapes can also be used with this label maker. I bought this one from Hema and they also sell tapes too.
They came with the label maker and are available in many colours. They're sticky at the back so you can use them for anything really
I love your video but if i press the button at the back it is super hard

There a small hook on the side, you'll be able to see it in the video at 0.30 seconds

Are the numbers '1' and '0' not there?
No they’re not on the wheel. You would have to use the letters for both these numbers. ‘I’ for number 1 and the letter ‘O’ for zero
You have monted the tape wrong, turn the holder 90 dec clockwise ;) so it is flat

How much is sopd
The black and white letter wheel should not be separated from each other. All you do when changing the wheels is take out one COMPLETE wheel and put the other in. It is absolutely not the intention that you separate these into 2 parts!
