He has an exceptional ability to articulate bicycle lingo, give alternate lingo with comparative analysis, and use sufficient variety of words to explain each step to the layman learner. As a novice, I have the explanation and visualization of too little, too much, and just right for each step. This technician is priceless! Thank you for posting this video.

This information is presented very well. I have watched this video and appropriate portions, several times over several years. I have successfully adjusted my Rad and other bikes in my collection. I am quite appreciative that Rad and the presenter have kept me from costly bike shop tune ups. Thank you Rad.

This is the kind of video all companies should have. Just got my RadCity 5 Plus and had problems with the rear derailleur.
I had problems with my gear skipping and 6th gear didn't even work. Everytime I pedal the gear would jump and automatically switch gears. So I followed your guide and the bike is also more silenced. Saved me a trip to the local bikeshop too.
I only wished you guys would answer the questions in the comments on this video instead of refering to customer support. Would help others reading.

Excellent presentation from an obviously skilled bike maintenance guru! Much appreciated for the level of detail and clear instructions. I have viewed tons of derailleur UA-cam videos, and this one puts many of them to shame. Thanks!

I just got a new RadRunner Plus, and the chain skipped under a heavy load. It turned out to be the shift cable had slack, causing the chain to be in between gears. I followed the procedure shown here. Very easy to follow, and the adjustments made shifting super smooth and quiet. Thanks!

I put a new rear tire on and it knocked out my derailleur for some reason. I was pulling my hair out trying to adjust it. After watching this and other videos, I finally figured it out and now it's perfect. Thank you for this video!

Great video. My derailleur was messed up.. So I thought. It didn't want to go into the lower year and I was trying to adjust the lower limit without success. It turns out it was the cable tension. It's shifting very smoothly now thanks to you and this video. Great support all around so far from RadRover. You gotta like this kind of service. It's what I call a customer centric company. Keep up the great work.

This is a great demonstration. I would suggest that a closeup of over the shoulder view would help. I was having trouble shifting my RadCity 4 from 5th gear to 6th and 7th gears. I watched the video twice, tried to adjust, and had no luck. AFTER the 4th attempt, I set back looked carefully at the derailleur. I notice the (I don't know the proper name) brush guard was bent and preventing the derailleur from extending to the 7th gear. I CAREFULLY bent the guard and it works perfectly

Thanks to your highly instructive video I fixed my bike, that wouldn't shift into 1rst or 7th, with a hammer. The hanger was bent out and a few whacks with the special alignment tool, AKA a hammer, did the trick. Not for the faint of heart.

Amazing video. I now have confidence when adjusting the derailleur. My Radwagon 4 had some gear shifting issues out of the box or maybe I caused issues while constructing the bike myself. Anyhow, I followed this video from front to back and found some real issues with the settings. I think I prevented a serious accident, and all the gears shift perfectly now. I couldn’t figure out where the 5mm gap was supposed to be measured as the last adjustment, but then I was assured I didn’t need to tinker with this one since the gears were working well. This video should be referred to in the manual, along with the self installation video, if it isn’t already. This is the natural next step after construction, and before you strap your kids on the back.

After watching all the videos on adjusting and what to check on multi-speed bicycles and trikes yours is the first I have found that breaks down the individual components and explains them to the point of what they are supposed to do and what to look for even before starting adjustments. Thank you, David. I had the same problem as Dennis Maloney did with the derailleur guard bent every so slightly wheelward, preventing the derailleur from reaching the highest gear (7). I suspect it had been pushed in during its somewhat tough transcontinental transit to my home. You might wish to amend the video to verify the guard is not striking the derailleur body as a first step...

My RAD Mini in a lower gear made a crunchy noise and the chain is not on the sprocket but in between it. This happened first time I rode the bike from the factory. Looks to me like the chain is installed too loose and just needs tightened up. Bike works fine if you don't peddle.

Not sure if this will be answered, but on my fat bike I fell over on the drivetrain side (clipped in...), right afterwards I noticed it would jump or as I sound it...tik, tik, tik on the 2nd and 3rd lower gearset. I attempted to adjust it but these systems are a mystery to me. I took it in and the bike shop 'adjusted' it but I found during a ride it was doing the same thing, but under load. What perhaps did they miss or not do?

Just watched and will be trying the adjustments for better gear changing. 2 questions: 1- with no bike stand is there another recommendation to get the bike up off the tire so I can turn the pedals and wheel (rather than having to wait for my husband to get home and list the bike up)? 2-will adjusting my gear using the derailleur tips fix the fact that my gear changer does not make audible sounds nor seem to hold the selection when choosing easier gears?

I've tested everything out and it works fine on the bike stand, but as soon as I apply pedal pressure when the bike is on the ground I get intermitent popping and I can't tell if it's skipping over the gear?🤔

you could just remove the battery that is a guaranteed way to not have the bike turn on.
switches can be set wrong or fail or be defective so the battery may not be off.
also removing rings is to prevent shorts with any wires if you are working on the electrical mostly if you are building a battery.
if the derailleur hanger is one of the many standard hangers you can replace the hanger i think where the bike mechanic is needed is to straighten a bent hanger
for the bike its self most bike shops can help there the only things that would be rad specific would be the electrics and any custom designed parts?

720p in 2021? From a large company? Most are doing 4k now but at least 1080p. Or maybe I’m missing something since it was live streamed.
Edit: to say I still love the company and content though.

I have two rad minis, they shift fine but both of them clunk when going from coasting to pedaling. They have done this from the time they came out of the box. This is very irritating. When the bikes are sitting still you can back the pedal and then move it forward and it will clunk every time.

Our two new Rad Mini ST2s do exactly the same. The Rad's freewheel design needs to provide more internal cushioning to smooth the transition from coasting to pedaling.

I used to hate rad rovers, still not the biggest fan, but as online ebikes go for under 2k, they seem to atleast be a good company.
