Well done , Richy. Delighted to hear all is going so well . I am slightly surprised you didn't give Malaysia another chance for your visa run . It's a long, long way up to Nong Khai and Laos .But it is a great route . Enjoy the Beer Lao -- what a brew !
Thanks mate, I struggled to find internet in the places I wanted to go so unfortunately it was impossible. Good WiFi is imperative for me to upload vlogs.
Always love the views from the Train as you Travel, such a beautiful, lush, tropical, Country. Enjoy the Ride, Richy, and then , hopefully , an Great nights Sleep after the long journey!!
Great stuff richy, have travelled a lot in Thailand, but never been on a train, but after many horrendous journeys on minivans,to bloody dangerous, im changing to trains, looks so enjoyable. Keep them coming buddy.
Thanks Anthony, the odd long journey can be painstaking but the vast majority are great mate. On minibuses the drivers like you say, most are crazy chasing the cash.
Hi Richy! Do you ever see many actually working on the high-speed rail infrastructure? I just keep seeing the basics of the line and track, but nobody really working on them? Wow, those brakes need some oil on the third class train 🤣 Shame to ride on past Petchaburi - such a lovely town. Hope you get back there at some time in the future. 10 hours on those seats, and my arse would be dead, too! 🤣 The race is on to get out of the country!
Thanks Greg I’m now relaxing in Laos, I will definitely be returning to Phetchaburi and many more places. I’ve been doing a reconnaissance on sights. Thailand is so big and I’m slowly getting the best destinations to return too. The high speed railway is not good in my opinion, they have got a lot of investment I think probably from China and that will never be good in the long run. It’s quickly ruining it’s character mate
Thanks Simon, because I was on a short time line I didn’t want to spend the night on the train and cross the border the same day. I got the third class this morning and arrived at 6pm
I’ll be coming back through this way as I want to see more of Nong Khai but having a slow travel back down towards after that to Bangkok and then Kanchanaburi for Songkran.
Off topic, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention Leeds top of the table. Gonna be a cracking run in between the top 4. Love the 3rd class train rides, baggage class, no airs and graces. Be safe!
Thanks mate, yes I’m over the moon we’re on top and looking forward to the run in. It is really good 3rd class, you get the odd dodgy journey but that’s expected anywhere.
@@ParkinsonRawDodgy journeys in any class Richy lad. Christ being 65 this year growing up in London and going to loads of footy matches via the train regardless of class you feared for your life at times, especially West Ham, Millwall, Charlton...hell train rides in the USA back in NY in 80s bloody hell! I have a cracking story from 1991...saved for another day. Least they are not armed and dangerous...well I hope not!
Laos is a preserved version of thailand, you can speak thai there, thai and laos people consider each other family. Its the best option of all thailands neighbours but it wont be immediately apparant to a novice, and is fortunately overlooked. Ive been in thailand 20 years and hope to transition to laos in future.
Ha it’s just a regular hostel Tim, there were six beds in the room but they’re not usually full especially in Chumphon. I never spend much time in a room and their facilities/information are amazing.
You are doing some miles my friend that you are i know i like to walk but i think you like walking mire than me lol i watch you and hear you say only 13 miles to hotel i just walk it 😂 me it be right where the taxi And that thai taxi man giving you a free lift just shows how nice alot of thais are can not wait till i am back
I do love a stroll mate, I’m used to climbing mountains back in the UK so it’s no problem. The Thai’s are amazing people I’ve only been out of the country a few days and I miss it already.
are you sure ,80 baht for Chumphon to BKK ?,maybe one of those special promotion tickets for the locals on the average wage under 400 baht a day Everywhere stunning scenery and those neat and tidy railway stations ,see ,I can be positive about LOS I can't believe why 3rd class was so crowded
@ParkinsonRaw yep, I'm aware how it works. So of the prices on the website give you the option of 2nd or 3rd class. Try and book it and you can't. They are all 3rd class trains. Some of the 2nd class carriages are far better than some others.
I got a visa exemption, extended it for month while I was there. Then I went to Malaysia for a week and flew back to Thailand and did the same process. After that Cambodia for a month, then to Vietnam for five weeks. Flew back to Thailand and did the same as I said at the start visa exemption and extension. When that expired I went to Malaysia for a few days and again the same process.
80 bht for that journey.. can u imagine the same in the UK? Lol.. One thing that puts me off train travel..is having to face someone for possibly the whole journey..now n again looking at each other.. is this the case only in 3rd class?
Mosquitoes love me mate, also it would be like a sweatbox here. I did consider that. I love camping I was in the Lakes all the time in the mountains back home weekly for a few days at a time. That’s why I love walking so much.
Also I’ve been twice now already and I want to see what Laos is like. I’ve also been right through Cambodia and Vietnam too there all in my UA-cam playlists.
Budget Richy. Man , you are amazing to suffer 3rd class. Top Class
Thanks Tim, some are great. Others can be a nightmare mate.

@@robertbest4398 he was only saying he woud likes it better . Have yourself a snicker you diva lol
I like the trains much better Dave but in certain places in Thailand they don’t have them mate unfortunately.
That’s what I’m here for to give information mate, a lot of people don’t know they don’t run there

The overnight sleeper train from hualomphong to the end of the line before the friendship bridge was an all time high.

top blog richie you show how easy it is getting public buses and how cheap it cost
Thanks Del

I never had time Tim had to leave first thing in the morning(today) to get 9 hour train to Nong Khai. Thanks though I’ll check it out when I’m back.
I love the 3rd class too mate
It is really good mate, sometimes it can be busy but you can take that on the chin
Thanks!
Thank you very much Jack!
Good vid, like that last hostel you showed.
Thanks mate, it was really good there and so cheap.
After 10 hours train you need a good walk 🙂
Definitely mate, get the old legs stretched👍🏻
Should be;
Richy Rich budget travel vlog.
I wanted to be original mate tbh
You have to share the bed with 6 others ? Holy Smoly. Are you on the ALIEN SPACE SHIP or on 2001 space odyssey?

I can't believe why 3rd class was so crowded
It was so crowded because it was 80baht, I’m always extremely sure about my prices Ian
80 baht for adults. 40 baht for kids.
SRT website. All prices for all trains are on there..
It’s because it was the ordinary train Tim, 80 stops. The rapid train is 3/4 times the price.
@ParkinsonRaw yep, I'm aware how it works. So of the prices on the website give you the option of 2nd or 3rd class. Try and book it and you can't. They are all 3rd class trains.

Third class for thais is free. So 80 bhatt for farang in third class sounds about right
I feel like the train is much safer to travel than the bus considering the drivers.
Definitely Jon, also you can get up and have a walk about and there are people there selling food too.
how do you manage your wake up so early richie 7am seems so hard
Early night mate, I was getting up at 6
how have you managed to stay in tgailand for so long, is there a tourist visa you can get that is more than a month ?

It’s is extremely cheap and good too so I’ve heard
@ParkinsonRaw it was 15 years ago like most things in thailand now richy avoid anywhere near tourists. As you well know
