I'm about to install my cam pin. I'm going to measure everything. Totally can relate to "all the swearing;" I've bought things from LMR. Many thanks for sharing the hard-earned information.
Measure and fit everything BEFORE assembly. However, the dowel pin does not have to be extremely tight fit into the cam. Just snug tight. I've rebuilt scores of Ford engines and only have used dowel pins that don't require a pounding to install. Just a tap. The cam bolt/washer assembly that holds the cam gear and eccentric will hold the pin in place. (Make certain the washer is just large enough to impede possible pin walkout.) You should have been able to remove the wrong pin and replace it with the right one without great effort. Therefore saving you much aggravation and $400.00.

I'm kinda torn on this one. Yeah, I get it that you expect videos to be accurate and all BUT! That big Butt, is for everyone understanding and accepting that they chose to trust a UA-cam Video over a Ford Shop manual. I do hate it that you have lost money and damaged equipment because of this but consider things. If your child wanted a hunting rifle for Christmas and told you that they learned firearms Safety off of a UA-cam video; Would you be satisfied with this for his safety training? I surely hope not... If no eccentric is used use original bolt and washer and an additional 0.070 thickness washer for cam gear installation, so cam gear has no slop front to back as major damage can occur.

Thanks. Saved me a lot of time
Thanks Man!
The dowel pin that came with my E303 was only 1”. Too short.
Luckily the two piece eccentric kit I purchased had the 1.125 pin included.
So why can't you machine it ??? Change it out? Drill whatever & re-pin?? How did you end up fixing it?
Why not just take a dremel and cut an 1/8" off the long pin? Am I missing something?
that block has a lifter spider did you convert to roller cam? 351w was roller from -1994-1996.

Keep commenting please. Just created my UA-cam videos. All comments are welcome.
Hey Bill, do you have a UA-cam channel?

Thank you Bill. Still going. I'm not quiting.

Having placed the longer pin into the cam could you have just used the older style timing set and 1 piece eccentric?
Hey! Any chance you still have your notes or photos of your notes? Trying to pause and read is becoming a pain lol
Lol made it to the end where you held it up! All good! Thank you!
I left LMR a nice comment too. Cost me $400 also
I have a love hate relationship with LMR. Still need them. They owe me a camshaft though.
@@fordnovice1018 how did it mess the cam up the dowel should come out or be able to be shortened.
I'm not sure how this ruined the camshaft, just pull the longer pin and install the shorter one
Just machine the dowel down
Use one piece eccentric
Waisted $400 over a dowel pin? Just remove it. Use a 1 piece eccentric or switch to an electric fuel pump all cheaper than spending $400
