Shatter's somewhat abrupt end is because Siyeon turns into stone before she can finish the lyric "I think I turn into the st...". Though watching the performance it seems that Siyeon is actually the one that turns the rest of them to stone at that point.

If you watch the choreo right when she says the last line everyone turns to look at her and she looks their way. Everyone turns away and covers their eyes from her and turn to stone but she goes down slowly (snakelike). In the choreo at least she turned everyone else into stone instead of turning herself.

They are killing the vocals on this very cohesive album! This has to be some of their best vocal work so far. ♥
I love the Shatter video/showcase, one of my favourite stages by DC - fantastic outfits, choreo and song (although the chorus had to grow on me). ♥
The chorus of Shatter is they way it is with the lack of many vocals meant to let the girls concentrate on dancing. I love it!

Now, let's talk about the album. I'm glad you loved "Rising"!!! I was hoping you would. It's such a great rock song, very inspiring. It makes me want to go into battle, just like you mentioned, haha.
As for "Shatter", it was not my favorite on this album, but it does grow on me with each listen. Especially after seeing the performance music video they just released (admittedly, I'm probably very biased with the visuals adding to my enjoyment, lmaoo).
Regarding why "Shatter" actually ends like that, as far as I am aware, it's supposed to be based on Medusa. So, at the end, when they get turned to stone suddenly, that's why it ends mid-sentence.
Demian was like 'Man, my whole B-Side ranking which I don't really have is destroyed, that didn't happen in a while.'
And then comes this album and shatters (pun intended) it again. Rising is fun, Shatter is freaking great. And the performance is instantly one of my favourites by them.
Also I can't stress enough how happy I am for Handong this era, her vocals, charisma and performance peak this era (temporarily).
In We Are Young, Gahyeon has a sweet softness to her voice, surprising since we know how loud she can be. She begins and ends the song which is a perfect showcase for all their voices. It's my favorite song on the album and the prominence of the Hammond organ, which you seldom hear anymore, is just icing on the cake. If this song is going to be the encore of their next tour then people will leave the venue in a very good mood indeed.
gahyeon center time had me dead for the shatter performance. I thought similarly to you when i first heard shatter but it grew on me and i really like when they add the epic choir towards the end. Rise is still my favorite from this album by a lot though, their pure rock stuff will always be fire. I could really hear they were singing like rock singers and not like pop singers on a rock instrumental. they have what it takes.
True! I loved that gahyeon had such an important role in the coreo in shatter, she is in front a lot, chorus/dance break and all of her parts are great

The Shatter choreo was done by our Dreamcatcher member number 8 "Hwang Sooyeon" together with dancer "Shinah Chu" (the one with the purple hair -> e.g. from Gahyeons Playground MV - the one on the right: ua-cam.com/video/iYvErpLnQ-8/v-deo.htmlsi=LVsfNl4HXvyk_HDK&t=38).
Hwang Sooyeon revealed it today on an Instagram post also mentioning Shinah Chu in it.
I wonder when they did it, they all have been pretty busy and on tour with other groups (e.g. Red Velvet, etc.).

shatter is love or hate really lol. on first listen, I hated it and thought it might have been their worse song but probably because I heard it from the showcase after a traumatic experience with ootd :o. after a few listens, shatter is the 2nd best song on the album :D
the album's theme is vanity, superficiality, narcissism, etc.. and in shatter medusa's lore comes into play. you're see a lot of medusa imagery in the choreo. that's why imo shatter also changes so abruptly in the chorus. one side are beautiful vocals but the theme is beauty is dangerous and can shatter in an instant.

Sua says OOTD choreo is created by La Chica's Rian and Gabee and the members learned the choreo from them in person.
according to Siyeon Shatter represents medusa that's why in the end Siyeon doesn't finish the song, she turned into stone

Well, the chorus of Shatter is actually my favourite part. The little "problem" I have, it's not going hard enough, lol.
Then on the other hand the vocals in "We Are Young" are so soothing. It could be a Calvin Harris song. Side note: If you like "EveryTime We Touch" by Cascada try the cover by Electric Callboy. But beware, it has a little twist. 😀
I needed some time to adjust as well. To the whole album. But DC.... they shine more with each listen as the details find their way free. It cracks me up watching reactions to “We Are Young”. It’s like being punched by 14 fists, with beauty.

Anyone with even a shred of taste has to love the video for "Shatter". And the song too. At first I wasn't that keen on the song, but now I'm addicted to it. It's so different. Maybe that's why... Thank you very much for your review.
