‘S WONDERFUL (G. Gershwin, arr. C. Strommen) for Trombone

“ ‘S WONDERFUL ” is by George Gershwin, and is such a fun song! This arrangement is by Carl Strommen and is from his book “Gershwin by Special Arrangement” (pub. Alfred Publishing, 2001). The first time through, I’m playing with the cd that comes with the book, and the tempo is quarter note = 180. The practice version follows with the metronome set to quarter note = 80. The metronome will click twice on every beat (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &)
This piece is much easier when you utilize some alternate positions. Here’s what I used-
M.5,10,13,17,18,29,34,61,66,70,72- Bb5 (In all of these measures, every Bb is played in fifth position)
M.6- F6
M.7,9,15,42,44,- 1st Bb1, 2nd Bb5
M.16- A6
M.21,22,37,38- D4
M.26- Last D4 (the rest are D1)
M.30,62- F6, Bb5, D4
M.41- High F1, low F6
M.46- D4
M.47- D4, F4
M.50- F4
