Thank you for the balanced transparent review. Sadly, I've encountered the same issues and have the same concerns as you. The old addage "you get what you pay for" doesn't seem to hold true here. You can charge Hot Toys prices, doesn't mean you'll get Hot Toys quality.
Thanks Justin, I had mine in hand and already submitted a return. After your review I decided to take him out one last time to see if it would change my mind. It didn’t lol, but thanks for a fair and honest review. Hopefully they will get enough returns and that they consider fixing the issue.
I got caught in the hype for this and pre-ordered, cancelled a few days ago after seeing all of the issues. I'll wait 10 years for the hopeful Hot Toys version that comes with die cast parts and overall better engineering.
@@burneraccount1773 indeed bought it a couple years ago for $400 sadly i had to buy some replacement parts for a piece in the legs because if you dont "pose" it just right that piece snaps
I think this figure is getting more hate than it deserves. I just got mine and its not as bad as people are trashing it to be. Yes the joints are not good, but with some time you can achieve a good pose with him. Plus the paint apps and appearance is very pleasing to look at on the shelf. The only issue that I have is sideshow being dishonest. I picked it up because I am not waiting 3-5 years for hot toys to make one, which we aren't even guaranteed.
Well we can thank sideshow for not having a hottoys version out yet. Any character of which SS has a 1/6 version of disallows HT to make the same character for a given period of time. Also the amount of hate it’s getting in the community isn’t even that much unfortunately. For a 300 dollar figure that can’t even stand on its own reviewers are being super lenient. If that would be Hottoys reviewers would rip them a new one. Hottoys has great track record for droids. K2so and IG 11 being sub 300 figs are brilliant and have diecast in them too. People have complained for not only joints but also poor paint apps and split seamlines. How someone can accept it for USD 300 plus is beyond me. If you people held SS to the same standard and would have scrutinised them more we would have gotten a much better figure.
Dre from Sixthscalereviews, love the content and reviews as always. I just sent mine back to Sideshow for a full refund. Mines only suffered the loose arm joints, no broken parts etc. I just could not swallow this a 7yr old figures. HT’s 7 year old figs still have tighter joints in them.
With all the returns and cancels i've seen people making, i'd hold out for a price drop to one more acceptable of the quality. Loose joints are the bane of my existence, and any amount of modge podge to the joints just cannot beat a proper functioning joint. Great insight on the review though! Off-topic im sure someone's said it before but you have a voice very fitting for radio!
Nice unbiased review. 👍🏽 I appreciate your honest opinions about the figure. I canceled my order. I would like to get it but too many issues with many other collectors receiving their shipments. And I’m not a fan of having “2014” labeled on anything i buy in 2021. Looks cheaply made and flimsy. I just don’t like being led to believe that this was a new and improved figure. Based on tactics like that, I’m showing my disapproval with my wallet by not giving them my money. I’d rather support these newer companies that are trying to give us the best product they can. If the original one had issues, then you owe it to the consumers to produce a better product or at the very least, be honest about what this is, a General G with a better cape but a straight 2014 re-issue in terms of engineering and that none of the concerns from collectors were addressed. 👎🏽
Sounds To Me That Theses Were Leftover Stock From 2014 , Someone had the bright ideal to change the cloak so they could get rid of them. Excellent review as always Justin
It was also a very glorious day when I receive General Grievous. On the same day that he came the Clone Trooper Shock Trooper came as well as 501st. I've never gotten that many figures at once it's usually one here and then 9 months later I get another one I didn't know what to do with myself I was ecstatic I don't know who I want to play with first LOL
I had the original exclusive one but unfortunately much to my dismay I had to sell him. And it really bummed me out. So when Sideshow announce this I was super excited I did not expect a brand new figure I got exactly what I expected just a rehash because it didn't say anything else it just said that it's a re-release of an old figure and mention nothing about it being upgraded. So I was very happy when I got them yes he is very fragile is joints can break easily but like you said if you're patient and you take your time you can get some extraordinary awesome poses out of him. I've only had my new one for about 6 weeks now and I've had him in six different poses and I had no trouble getting him into any of them. When I first received him one of his thumbs on one of his arms was broken off. But not only did sideshow replace the hand they replace the whole arm and they gave me extra pegs. Does it stuff called Kiki which is excellent with tightening up joints so if he does get loose add a little bit of this stuff and you'll be able to post them anywhere you want again. I also used his stand it works quite well I know a lot of people complain about the stand but it locks in place where it's supposed to and it keeps some nice and sturdy. I also bought a dynamic stand for him which I'm using right now because I have him in a kneeling position that he wouldn't be able sturdy himself because of the way I have the upper body and I tell you these Dynamic stands are excellent. I mean this figure is going nowhere and he fits right into my details because he's kneeling. Overall I'm very happy with this figure the detail is incredible my only complaint that I really have is that I wish his chest plate was the movie accurate and not open so wide I really don't need to see his inner guts. But this figure will definitely make me happy until I hope hot toys will make a better one. Because you know how toys would knock this right out of the park. But I will say this I think this General Grievous is by far sideshows best 1:6 scale figure to date.
What a complete joke, its a straight up repack,I thought Hasbro were the ones only sneaky enough to do so, it says a lot about Shiteshow as a company lying to their customers.Great review of a car crash figure!
I just got mine this morning and your video popped up. Perfect combo. Had to check out your review of the re-issue before opening it up. I only opened it to check and make sure that everything is fine and not broken, since I've seen so many people post pics of how the condition of the figure arrived right out of the box. I'm so happy to say that my copy of General Greivous came without any broken parts or joints. The joints also felt pretty sturdy for now, nowhere near as floppy as the original issue or of some I've seen other unfortunate collectors post. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I happy with my copy, definitely. I can't wait to have him next to Count Dooku or with Kenobi....not sure which just yet
I was excited to order this guy after always wanting 1/6 Grievous and after seeing all the problems it still has I canceled my order and just got Mysterio instead. Such a shame. Could of been a great figure if they took a little time to fix such simple problems.
Just by me messing around with the legs, his hip literally split open on me because of the way the leg joints or whatever is in the middle decided to come off. It looks like I can just superglue it back on but I have a feeling that if I do that, the hip part will affect the articulation in his legs.
Yeah, the plastic piece on the left elbow of the regular, non-split arm that holds the pistons in place already broke & I *just* opened it 20 minutes ago. If I don't have any issues with the split-arm I may just keep it but it is rather disheartening since Grievous is one of my favorite characters & high quality figures of him are hard to find and/or aren't made very often.
I big upgrade would be to make the figure in diecast with better joints. I’m sure collectors would have no problem paying a bit more for a die cast figure with snap joints or something. Just my thoughts.

Did you ever end up fixing his chest plates? Looking at potentially getting this guy. That is a dealbreaker. I knew something was off. Clicked when you mentioned it. Otherwise, looks awesome. The accessories make this piece, I think.
Wow this is pretty bad. I have the Clone Wars Obi-Wan and Anakin on preorder from Sideshow, do you think I should cancel those if they’re going to be as bad as this piece? I currently have just one Sideshow figure (Return of the Jedi Vader) and I actually love it. Haven’t had any issues with that one, but now I’m worried that I will have issues with Obi-Wan and Anakin
No. Those are regular 1/6 scale figures. This is a super unique very hard design to nail and Sideshow were not equipped to do it well. Those will be fine
After knowing that Sideshow actually made a Darth Sidious and Chancellor Palpatine two pack, I wish they reissued that instead of this but it's good for people who wants a 1/6 General Grievous and missed out on the first release version.
I know exactly why I never bought anything from sideshow. I thought about it very often but every time I watched reviews on anything sideshow, I found that it is cheap in the core. The paint is vastly inferior to hot toys and the materials are cheap. I will always choose to pay extra to get a better figure from hot toys or other because I don’t want to deal with breaking stuff or struggling on second market. I want an articulated figure for it to be articulated not to stand it in a Pose and hope it will never move ever again. Then I could just buy a statue. This grievous reissue is the final nail in the sideshow coffin for me. I don’t think I will ever again consider buying from them. Your reviews are very professional and diplomatic which I admire but I would have been lot less - let’s say- relaxed about it.
Mine was broken right out the box , the peg / joint in 2 pieces , they have no parts in stock for replacement but will send upgraded joints replacement to everyone who bought a grevious including me in a bout 6 weeks , so all grevious owners will end up with 2 complete joints sets damage free while I will only end up with 1 complete joints set damage free
I’m a little put out that this is just a repack as I got this on the assumption that the joints would be firmed up. It’s poor form at the least. Having said, I had the original and I returned it, and I have regretted it ever since, so I am getting a figure I did genuinely like at the time for less than the original would be on the secondary market realistically. So, on the whole, I am relatively serene about this, assuming that mine is not broken when I get it out.
I got mine yesterday and when I opened the box his entire hip/pelvis assembly had come apart in the box. His legs were just sitting there, his hip pieces just sitting there, and so I requested a new body. I was able to fix it though, and then a thumb fell off and the separated arm joints started to get too loose, and just one thing after another with this guy. Love him to death, but I wish he didn't have all the problems he does.
This is my first time getting him. I’m highly disappointed in the quality he is for the price I paid. I agree that he looks amazing, but all the plastic just feels very cheap and like it was said, his arm joints are definitely too loose. Plus it’s even more disappointing how he’s not entirely screen accurate. Now if they integrated some die cast parts… 👀
As disappointing as this figures seems to be, I do want it and still have it on order. Yes, it’s probably a mistake, but the fear of missing out from missing the first one has gotten the best of me. Hot Toys will probably do one in the future, but my impatience wants this one flaws and all.
OMG just received mine and I can't believe how flimsy he is!!! It feels like a gust of wind could break it!! Gen Grievous is one of my favorite CW characters so I had to have him and he does look great but I don't think I'm going to change his position in the display case more then once a year... The joints are so lose and the finger look so fragile. Any pose will require a sturdy base front another figure, this one just isn't going to cut it, luckily I have a few spares I'm not using...
Sideshow have been very disingenuous with this release and should refund all who ordered him who aren’t happy with it no questions asked including the deposit. No wonder they didn’t do an Unsealed and Revealed video of him - it would’ve been an absolute disaster! 😂 A friend mentioned they rushed this one out the door as they’re losing the licensing rights to produce him but I’ve no idea if that’s true. Great video though - loved the joint analysis! I’m going to try using some 1/12 scale figure tricks to tighten up the joints (thickening the joints with nail varnish perhaps).
Great review, like you said it was going to be a fair review. I wonder if it can be fixed? E.g. changing the arms? But like you quoted though "expectations are the thieves of happiness." Though that like a very buddhist mindset
@@JustinsCollection I'm wondering if any 3rd party would redesign the arms so that it works better, based on the feedback I've seen that seems to be the biggest complaint.
I have the original but I don't display my Grievous with the cape, I have him displayed in the same pose where he drops the cape and challenges Obi-Wan. I still like the option of displaying with the cape, but I'd like to get the new cape as it appears to be an improvement. Evidently the only improvement.
It’s very disappointing that sideshow used the exact same mood from 2014. They should have updated the figure to be better looking and to remove the hideous ball joints that are an eyesore when you display him. Sorry, but I’ll be sticking with my grievous model kit.
I came back to look this again now that we have seen the prototype photographs of Hot Toys their Grievous. Second hand market is going to be flooded with this Sideshow piece of junk soon.
the difference in the arms is because the arms were breaking on the original so they made them articulate at the second point to put less stress on the arm i don't get why they are loose and floppy other than the mold being old and sideshow figures being loose and floppy
Thanks for the review, Justin. Very disappointed by Sideshow’s handling of this figure. I was wondering if you had the Art Figures AF026 The Mercenary (Crossbones) in the pipeline for a review?
Neck assembly is too high, chest panels too far apart, loose joints.. I know this figure and video are old, its just a shame that there still isnt a better grievous figure
thanks for the balanced review, glad you could get it done so quickly. I'm glad I don't collect any Star Wars characters besides some of the Mando ones; I'll stick with my Marvel figures. Too bad people are still holding out hope for a Hot Toys version since, unless Howard takes a liking to the character, there won't be one.
let me ask this question. why did you buy this version when you still have the original release? is it you had a burning hole in your pocket ? i canceled my pre order after seeing all the reviews and said no thanks. i will keep working my custom. but as always nice review
@@JustinsCollection i bet there regretting it now with all the issues. i was so hoping this would been re-engineering the whole figure with better joints and not just lazyley made them worse.
I get some compromises need to be made, like his ankles and feet to support him, but his head silhouette is a pear shape, not a rectangle. the "ears" need to be angled in, and his chest plates are so low and spread apart. Really the only thing this figure has going for it is its the only 1/6th scale fig. I pray some third party or Hot Toys tackles him.
Good review, thank you. Sideshow has an opportunity here to make this right: will they? That remains to be seen. I cancelled my order based on longevity, how will this figure hold up ten years from now? IF, Sideshow addresses the issues at hand and offers original pre-order folks a generous discount, I may re-visit a purchase.
I missed out on that first General Grievous so I was legit excited when he went up for pre-order. While yes I'm still looking forward to getting the figure since the General is my favorite character in all of SW after watching this review, while still excited as hell I now know to be careful and what to expect. To people like me who missed out on the first figure this is a chance to get this version, but to people that already has it. Maybe parts swaps to fix/replace things?
I swear they found a boat load of these in their warehouse from days past and just rebranded the packaging

You should get and review the big Lebowski “the dude” sideshow figure
Maybe
Great review as usual sir, I was not able to hide my annoyance with mith mine. He looks awesome but the "improvements" were not up to par.
Thanks man!
After knowing that Sideshow actually made a Darth Sidious and Chancellor Palpatine two pack, I wish they reissued that instead of this but it's good for people who wants a 1/6 General Grievous and missed out on the first release version.
Fair enough!
Fair enough!
Damnit!
@@JustinsCollection I know right oh well overall I like him despite the issues he has , thanks for the review and subscribed !
There needs to be a battle damage grevious before he explodes
True!
Yeah a lot of people thought that. Sideshow mislead people for sure
My friends and I had a pool going as to whether your figure would be broken right out of the box 🤣
LOL
Great review as always
Thanks Rob!
the arms alone make this unacceptable. really a bummer
Damn
Imagine a 2003 animated series general grievous! The all white and different design ❤️😭
Yes!
Ah damn!
Fair enough!
As disappointing as this figures seems to be, I do want it and still have it on order. Yes, it’s probably a mistake, but the fear of missing out from missing the first one has gotten the best of me. Hot Toys will probably do one in the future, but my impatience wants this one flaws and all.
Fair enough!
we need a review between the new one vs the original to see if there are any differences between the two
They're almost identical
@@JustinsCollection if that was the case this new version is worse the the old version when it comes to the joints i guess.
Yeah its not ideal!

I'm really curious to know what's inside that translucent organ sac.🟢
Lol
Sideshow have been very disingenuous with this release and should refund all who ordered him who aren’t happy with it no questions asked including the deposit. No wonder they didn’t do an Unsealed and Revealed video of him - it would’ve been an absolute disaster! 😂
A friend mentioned they rushed this one out the door as they’re losing the licensing rights to produce him but I’ve no idea if that’s true.
Great video though - loved the joint analysis! I’m going to try using some 1/12 scale figure tricks to tighten up the joints (thickening the joints with nail varnish perhaps).
They sure have!
Hi justin im big fan of you from Malaysia
Thanks!
Great review, like you said it was going to be a fair review. I wonder if it can be fixed? E.g. changing the arms? But like you quoted though "expectations are the thieves of happiness." Though that like a very buddhist mindset
Thanks Max! Yeah it’s definitely possible to do some fixes!
Fair enough!
It’s very disappointing that sideshow used the exact same mood from 2014. They should have updated the figure to be better looking and to remove the hideous ball joints that are an eyesore when you display him. Sorry, but I’ll be sticking with my grievous model kit.
Agreed
I came back to look this again now that we have seen the prototype photographs of Hot Toys their Grievous. Second hand market is going to be flooded with this Sideshow piece of junk soon.
Agreed
I have this figure as lego buildable figure too🤗 and Obi Wan Too 😁
Nice 👍
the difference in the arms is because the arms were breaking on the original so they made them articulate at the second point to put less stress on the arm i don't get why they are loose and floppy other than the mold being old and sideshow figures being loose and floppy
Could be!
Got to be honest. This honest review has put me right off. This was a good review Justin.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review, Justin. Very disappointed by Sideshow’s handling of this figure.
I was wondering if you had the Art Figures AF026 The Mercenary (Crossbones) in the pipeline for a review?
I don't but I may get him!
Neck assembly is too high, chest panels too far apart, loose joints..
I know this figure and video are old, its just a shame that there still isnt a better grievous figure
Fair enough
Ended up picking this one up for $150. Hopefully it was worth it
Sick!
Yea I still got it is still nice
Awesome
thanks for the balanced review, glad you could get it done so quickly. I'm glad I don't collect any Star Wars characters besides some of the Mando ones; I'll stick with my Marvel figures. Too bad people are still holding out hope for a Hot Toys version since, unless Howard takes a liking to the character, there won't be one.
No problem! I will do the best I can as always!
This is a very fair review! 👏🏼
Thanks!
Yo great vid just wish i could get these lmao but black series are good to
Same lol i might buy this just cause it looks so good
@@ReadGantz yea
Ah ok!
@@JustinsCollection yeah there quite expensive
i was excited to see what you had to say about this figure after watching it get torn to shreds on reddit lmao
Haha yeah!
Ah yes, another fine addition to my collection
Yes!
You are a bold one
Just bought him today. He's glorious.
Edit: I just read the comments. I'm concerned...
Hopefully you get a good one!
Awesome dude
Thanks!
let me ask this question. why did you buy this version when you still have the original release? is it you had a burning hole in your pocket ? i canceled my pre order after seeing all the reviews and said no thanks. i will keep working my custom. but as always nice review
Why did the figure reviewer buy a newly released 2.0 version of a figure that people have been asking for...
Fair enough!
"I don't see Hot Toys tackling this design any time soon." However...
Lol that wasn’t soon, this video is old as
Good review, thank you. Sideshow has an opportunity here to make this right: will they? That remains to be seen. I cancelled my order based on longevity, how will this figure hold up ten years from now? IF, Sideshow addresses the issues at hand and offers original pre-order folks a generous discount, I may re-visit a purchase.
I don’t think they will unfortunately
@@JustinsCollection I think you maybe right.
Canceled mine, too. It’s 300 euros here. Not worth the price with the issues!
Ah fair enough!
Awesome
Thanks!
Thanks man! Glad I could help! I will be parts swapping some pieces for sure!
So the lego general grievous is basically better than this?
I guess lol
@@JustinsCollection its as big as this figure.
