Pro Skimboarders Attempt to Ride Malibu Surf Spot

John Weber and Blair Conklin skimboarding a perfect Malibu point break on an extremely high tide day. Every once in a while Blair makes the journey up to Malibu in search of some long point break waves that are reachable by foot. Malibu is an incredibly under utilized stretch of coast for skimboarding. There are several beaches that get good for the sport but few people who practice it there. 😎This is one of the most exciting morphs that ever happened to surfing. In the olden days when the peaks got to crowded, I would come inside to ride the shorebreak, just rippin shit on those tiny tubes. The take-away was in three hours of surfing I would ride somewhere over 100 waves! Got me super ripped and in shape, and taught me to fear no wave. My paddle speed and strength increased so I could catch a wave in one or two paddles. The negative takeaway was it really pissed off many surfers that started doing everything they could to block me getting waves. Sure was lucky I had all those thick calluses on my knuckles and toes. 😁
