Absolutely love these videos! These are always so educational and therapeutic to watch.
Coming from a healthcare background, I have to ask… I see you using a lot of soaps, degreasers, lubricants, etc. with your bare hands. Yet, at the end of every episode your hands appear to be squeaky clean and not cracked. 1) what is the reasoning for not wearing a vinyl glove, and 2) what actions do you take to clean your hands thoroughly and keep them moisturized?
Bike is as good as new after that - hopefully the owner will get a bit of nail polish that matches the paint and touch up the brake lever chip on the top tube. All the best for '23!
Trek sell touch-up paints so hopefully they have a match available to buy
Merry Christmas and new year in 2023 and loads more videos
Cheers for a year of mint servicing !
Cheers to a year more!🧡⚙️
Echt top gedaan dat doe ik ook alle dagen met heel veel passie en goesting maar het is mooi om te zien dat er nog fietsenmaker met zo veel passie zijn mvg Michaël
Thanks!!🧡⚙️
Wow, very thorough. Awesome job!
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Nice job wishing you the best for the new year. I like the syringes sell them with bike speed logos 😎
That’s the plan😉 see you in the new year!🧡⚙️
Thanks for sharing and bye for this year, and I will hope to see many more videos in 2023! 🕊️🎉🍾🎊🎆🍀🌞👍 Greetings from Germany and all the best to you! Take care and keep on going 👍
Thanks for the support Maik! Happy new year and see you soon!🧡⚙️
So many great tips watching your videos....thanks for letting the community see them.
No problem Andy! Thanks for the support🧡⚙️
Always enjoy watching thorough work, but one comment about something i did not see. I always remove bottle cage bolts and put grease or anti-seize on the threads. All too often they are over-torqued and/or end up frozen into frames.
Loved how you spotted the brake lever marking the top tube 👌🚴👍atb for 2023
Thanks for the support this year 🧡⚙️
Thank You
That is a great paint color, really shined up nice!
We loved it!🧡⚙️
Happy new year bikespeeds. 🎉
Happy new year! We’ll see you again soon with a new video after a one week off for us to have a breather!🧡⚙️
Thank you Simon and Lee! Always great content.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks from both of us 🧡⚙️
Happy new year to you and Simon and everyone at Bikespeeds. Looking forward to seeing more videos in the coming year, thanks guys. 😀
Thanks for all the support over the past year! All the comments keep us going so we’ll see you again soon!🧡⚙️
Great stuff guys as ever, happy new year and looking forward to the first one of 2023!
Thanks for the support this year and we will see you in 2023!🧡⚙️
Great detail in your video,I particularly like the care and attention to detail!!
where are you based??
Suffolk, England 🧡
I watch a lot of UA-cam and I’m surprised I’ve never come across this channel before - my new favourite!
Do you have any videos on what grease to use where? Eg. I’m interested where you use copper slip vs premium assembly grease. Is it based on whether there are moving parts? I also impressed with your syringe system!
We did do an old grease guide that’s slightly outdated production wise now but still holds the information, we are soon to be selling the greases online so look out for that!🧡⚙️
Great work on the channel guys, look forward to the weekly drop! Noticed you do a number of cable replacements lately and you feed in a liner to the frame first. Going to be doing cables on a Ribble R782 and was wondering which sleeve / liner you use so I can buy some
We use jag wire cables⚙️
@@Bikespeeds thanks guys!
Do you guys, get to service any old road bikes? '70 '80 '90?. I'm based in Bulgaria and those road bikes are pretty much gone from the streets. Do people still ride those older bikes in the UK? Maybe they won't be the best for 100km ride compared to new road bike, but for around town and rides in the park with the kids and think will do a wonderful job
Have a scroll through the channel. We actually have a whole bunch of old bikes we’ve serviced and they’re some of our favourites to do!🧡⚙️
As you say a fantastic colour. What degreaser do you use in your ultra sonic cleaner?
Great video , but I'm wondering how on earth do you get the copper grease in the syringes ? I'd make a right mess
Nothing wrong with a spike protector even on a top end bike, I’d rather have a spoke protector then ruining my new rims
Amazing work, I have only recently found this channel. What chain lube do you use ?
We have a website coming soon! Stay tuned till then!🧡⚙️
What brand of mudguards are those? Really need set of them.
I used to think commuter bikes or "dad bikes" were kind of daggy.... but I'll tell you what.. they're fun to ride to the shops/school what have you dead comfy
Recently I saw a UA-cam video of a town bike in Japan... with bloody Dura Ace... bloody hell...
I made my own dad bike with a bike I found on the nature strip here in Adelaide... slapped some good 700c wheels on it.. better deore bits on it... gave it to my brother because he rents out rooms to Chinese students from Adelaide University Medical school at $AU 500 a week.. he even scored a Chinese girlfriend... shes kinda panda looking with a louie voiton bag but he still loves that slanty chick
We’re big fans of upright bikes. They’re an easy ride for round town. Much more practical for commuting than a road bike at times🧡
Is the front derailleur broken 1:31?
Cost efficient
Does the autoglym polish work on a matte painted frame?
It does. It won’t bring it to a shine but it’ll take it to as clean as it gets 🧡⚙️
3:40 sir what brand of copper compound grease do you use? And same with the multipurpose grease ur using, and correct me if im wrong, the white one is a silicon grease? The yellow is a shimano premium grease and what type of oil do you also use?
We use our own brand greases, you can buy them all on www.bikespeeds.com/shop. Thanks for your support🧡
The hybrid is unfortunately one of the most disliked categories of bikes out of all. I have owned two carbon versions of hybrids from specialized, always had to lose quite a bit of money when I sell them eventually.
It also seems like all hybrids are basically a gravel/road frame with a straight handlebar and mountain bike cassette on it. The handling honestly is a bit weird from the straight bar conversion
Upright bikes offer a very comfortable riding position for commuting and less intense riding, we love them 🧡⚙️
I wish I have a local bike shop that’s so thorough.
I wanted to ask, do you test ride all/most of your serviced bikes? I find that sometimes a bike will shift perfectly in the stand but decide otherwise under load.
We personally don’t🧡⚙️
That red certainly pops once cleaned the only thing that is triggering me is the mudguards they don't seem to be sitting right 🤔 that is one thing I need to buy any suggestions for a road bike mudguard? I have tried the crud3 and not a fan to short
What a great commuter bike. Thanks for a wonderful year of entertaining videos. Your fans appreciate all the effort and time it takes each week to bring a bike back to life. Happy New Year
Thanks for all the support this year. We’re so passionate about making these videos it’s so enjoyable for us but extremely taxing to keep up sometimes so the support from you guys definitely keeps us going🧡
Maybe a novice question, but do you change the chain link over each time you take the chain off or just re-use them? I'm looking to get an ultrasonic cleaner but don't want to muck about with new links each time
Thanks and keep up the good work :)
Some links are reusable some aren’t, you need to research which you have.
I'd have had to remove the mudguards to clean under the mounts (possibly just not shown) but otherwise, excellent as always. Happy New year to you.
I learn something from every commentary. This time was copper slip in the split pin! Makes perfect sense. Thanks!
No problem! Thanks for watching🧡
Its now a year since I found this channel..
It has really helped me build up my vintage road bike & I really can't emphasize how much I love it even won a race with it..
Thank you bike speed.. keep up the good work..
Can't wait to see what you have in store for 2023.. With love from Kenya -Nairobi..🇰🇪
That’s awesome! Thanks for all the support this year and we will see you again soon in 2023!🧡⚙️🇰🇪
Please make a video on how to get grease into the syringes!!! Cheers mate!
Another top job. 👌 I'll finally get my e-mtb down to you next month with its broken spoke as long as there aren't many postal strikes. 😁
All the best for New Year, looking forward to your vid's.
yep, i would hand my bike to you to service ! ^^
This type of maintenance isn't even offered here in Frankfurt, Germany. I would dish out if it was available.
Can you replace brake wire on shimano 105, without undoing bartape and other stuff? So can you just put it in shifter and that is it??? On rim brake bike
Great video. Lovely to see a well used bike rather than a shed find. The mudguards have quite the stand off though. Did you discuss with customer?
What was the max teeth count on that front crank set ?
Merry Christmas & Happy new year from Stockholm!
Happy new year! 🇸🇪🧡🎉
It's funny to me the cultural differences in uses of grease in the UK vs the States. I see you guys using copper grease for automotive and now here with bikes . In the states I think we just use lithium grease. Wonder why that is
Fan of the channel.
Regarding the plastic dork disc, as you said they serve a purpose. However, if they were vital to the "system" then it wouldn't be made out of a 5c piece of plastic that deforms, cracks and rubs in no time (relative to how long the deivetrain lasts). If this was an eningeered vital piece to drivetrain engineering, it would be used in much more agressive riding (e.g. Enduro/DH).
All you need to do is blue loctite the low limit screw, prevents that chain ever migrating inbound.
Those disks are there purely for liability/prevent a customer from riding a badly tuned/setup bike from being sued.
I remember as a kid.. I hated it, but I was too lazy to remove it. After a while, my chain got stuck a few times. It looked so crappy, that I had to removed it.
And after so many years, my rear wheel is in decent condition. Maybe my dad did a truing, but I doubt it, considering how bad my front wheel was :))
Wow very good nice. I'm your fan+👍🔔
Thanks Japan🧡⚙️
Hollowtech with pinned chainrings!!! O tempora!
Love my FX3. Such a reliable workhorse. Amazing value for the money in 2020. Less so now that they've jacked up the price.
They’re a great bike🧡
When I offloaded my first (alu) road bike frame, I stripped the parts and noticed a huge dent on the inside of a chainstay and was glad to get rid as I thought it was dangerous. Just seen the same on this bike. Why are they there?
Keep up the top work and all the best for 2023
Will you be opening up other shops so those of us who avidly watch your videos can practice the skills we've learned by watching them? 😄🙏🤞
If we could we would lol🧡⚙️
Nice work and happy new year 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Happy new year 🎉🧡
Wow, thumbs up! I try to do the servicing myself but if i knew a craftman like you in my area I would gladly pay for it.
First video I see from this channel so I subscribed too.
Enjoy your work!🧡
beautiful bike..... LOVE the color
happy new year :)
Happy new year🎉
The way you treat that bike i can only compare to jewelery master working on diamond ring or super expensive earrings. But here you are giving it all to a vehicle. For my east-european mind it is something yet to comprehend. I mean i have a trek FX3 2022 and i take care of it, i clean it grease it and check all bolts for being loose, keep it hanging on a dry warm livingroom wall. However this costumer got to be living somewhere in clean and well kept infrastructure, because on our Latvian streets my bike gets dirty like a T34 after a battle in Prokhorovka on 1943 after only a 20 mile ride.
Dirty roads means a good excuse to rebuild lol! Enjoy your ride and thanks very much for the kind words 🧡
My first real bike was a hybrid and I have a soft spot for it. This was a treat to end the year and retrospect where we are from where we came from. Thanks again, happy new year friends.
Awesome! We enjoyed this one for no apparent reason it was just a very enjoyable job🧡⚙️
All the best for 2023, looking forward to at least 50 new vids in the new year🤩
Haha we will see you then! Thanks for the support🧡⚙️
So you do this on every bike that comes in for service ? I mean in winter it's maybe manageable but how do you do this in the Sommer season ? I barely have time to answer the telephone in summer 😓
Not to every bike but we can get very business in summer lol 🧡⚙️
Im one of those guys that still uses patches for punctured inner tubes vs replacing them. Weldtite repair patches are awesome!
i have 2 fx1 trek in my garage
You will have enjoyed this one then!🧡⚙️
Happy New Year to you and family.... have a great year 2023.
Happy new years! Thanks very much for the support🧡⚙️
nice! have a really great new year!
Thanks! Happy new year 🧡⚙️🎉
Beautiful pint on that bike!
Thank you for another amazing video!!! If this will be the last video this year I wanna wish you my best wishes and we hope that next year this channel to be 100k more. I will be here even on 1 million subs.
We hope so too. It’s no secret the absolute hours we spend on these so we’d love to see it takeoff even more. Thanks as always!🧡⚙️
Great job, perfect bike for commuter, Happy New Year!
Happy new years we will see you again soon with a new video! Thanks for watching🧡⚙️
Nice watch. I like the milanese bracelet. Bike looks great too.
Thank you🧡
Great work. Happy New Gear to the wohle community.
See you in 2023!🧡⚙️
I have this bike same color got it secondhand for $400 it practically new condition.
I'm curious, how much does a service like this cost?
Good video to come home to from the grave shift :) happy new year!
Happy new year! 🧡🎉⚙️
👍 Happy New Year 🎉
Happy new year 🧡⚙️🎉
Lovely bike, interesting as I had the non disk version in blue
We like rim brakes ourselves!🧡⚙️
Hi. I have the same bike. THE XXL version. I am very tall! 6'6" tall. About a year ago my bike started to make a grinding scraping sound from the front end. Only the front. The sound is there almost constantly and I find its extremely annoying. If you bike next to me, you clearly hear it and when I 'm bking hard and exerting forces to increase speed, you really HEAR IT!!
The shop where I bought the bike from replaced the bikes front end with new 36h Affinity Rims and and 2.0mm DT Swiss spokes and changed the Pro Max brakes to Stock Shimano 201, but, still the grinding sound remains. Any idea what it could be? I have sometimes used the bike in day after snowy weather where the sun is out, but, the roads are still a little salty? The rotor , maybe?? Please let me know your ideas?
Wednesday again.! Another solid service there guys 🙌😎🇫🇮
The Wednesdays never stop lol🧡⚙️
I’ve never seen orange reflectors on bike wheels. Always white. Must be a UK vs US thing.
We get white over here as well but often orange 🧡⚙️
Usually an amber colour in Australia - the same colour as the amber traffic light.
Good to see a Trek bike over there for a change. Happy Holidays, keep up the great work!
Happy holidays! Thanks for the support🧡⚙️
Can i convert the FX 3 to a roadie? Also what kind of bottom bracket will i need to fit a campagnolo 11 speed groupset?
Happy new year to you Bikespeeds, great video as always
Happy new year! Thanks for all the support!🧡⚙️
satisfying :o)
Never ceases to amaze me how filthy these bikes are. Just an amazing lack of care. Keeps you in business I suppose.
We never mind seeing a ridden bike. Makes for all the better video 🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds So true 👍
Happy new year!
Happy new year to you too!🧡⚙️
Another cracking service! Happy New Year, here’s to a great 2023, and thanks for all the entertainment.
Thanks Andy! We will see you in the new year!🧡⚙️
Nice to hear from somebody else who leaves the "dork disc" on a bike. I always leave these on my bikes, just because I'm OCD about keeping my bikes clean and I find the disc protects my spokes and hub from oil and road grime from the drive train. Although I don't replace them when they break.
Very nice work!!!
Can't explain how satisfying it is watching your videos. I absolutely love them. Please keep them coming. Top work......👍
Thank you again! Glad you’re enjoying them🧡
a super cleanup to close out 2022! Well done, and best of luck in 2023.
We appreciate it thanks Mike. See you in 2023!🧡⚙️
If possible can you share what kind of solutions and or products that you use in the ultrasonic bath and the second bath? In addition, can you offer any recommendations for type of ultrasonic device to get?
Just want to add that I have shared your channel with friend who are bike enthusiasts. Who all gave a positive response.👍
Wishing you and your audience a Happy New Year.
Marathon Plus with a puncture ????
It happens from time to time!🧡⚙️
Hello! NICE channel +👍🔔
Thanks!🧡⚙️
...and what my damage would be for this service?
Thanks for the videos over the year, hope you have been enjoying your break
Thanks Steven! We most definitely have. UA-cam can be non stop on top of running the shop as well so it’s nice to have some time off lol. Thanks for the support🧡⚙️
Wow! Beautiful work!
Thanks very much! 🧡⚙️
You're a craftsman AND an artist.
Very very kind!🧡
Does the lubricant in the b-tension spring in the derailleur wash out during ultrasonic cleaning? Does it need re-lubrication at some point?
tops
Great bike, even better after service and clean. Looks brand new now. Happy New Year to you. Dave
Thanks Dave! We will see you in the new year🧡🎉⚙️
