    Me and my group, use this every time we go out to ride. We are able to connect up to 20 different devices. 2-of us have the actual "Garmin Tread" with it's mic. The rest downloaded the app on there mobile devices, and are able to see what we see on our "Garmin Tread". The way we communicate with people with out a mic is with a "Boafeng UV-9R" hand held raidio with the same frequency of the channel "2" on the "Garmin Tread". This improved our group riding tremendously. Highly recommend!!

    Where can I purchase? I just got the Zumo and I can see this is the exact same with a lot of good extras, like group ride, public land. Finally a real gps unit for the sxs/atv rider.
    Thank you!

    Nice presentation and interaction between the two of you. Looks like an awesome product but a deal breaker for many people. Why did Garmin decide to go to MURS (Multi-use radio service) that no one else uses?! That is a VHF band radio that does not even pair with their own handheld Garmin Rhino which uses the UHF GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service)! That band is the standard now for many off roaders including Jeepers, Overlanders, and more recently SxS, ATV and MC. Further, there are loads of GMRS radios available and nearly no MURS! MURS is limited to 2 watts, and GMRS can go up to 50 watts. So not only does the 2 way radio, but also the great polling or car-to-car location feature not work with the $500 Garmin Rhinos some of us have, nor any of the VHF Race radios or GMRS many SxS's have from Rugged Radios, PCI Race Radios, and others! And, from what I understand, the Tread is not compatible with Polaris Ride Command or the Yamaha products. In short, it appears it does not work with anything other than another Garmin Tread. I don't think others are going to scrap their $2500 systems and run to Garmin. I have long been a Garmin fan and have many of their GPS units. Very disappointing on what otherwise looks like a terrific product...

    Great device, I hope that you will produce a unit with a larger screen in the future. Will you also produce a hand held MURS radio that will couple with the system. This would be great for hunting, hiking, and camping.

    I am looking forward to trying this device, the only changes that I would want are physical buttons ( some riders refuse to use touch-only devices ), built-in InReach, and maybe a slightly bigger screen. But overall a really nice device.

    Will the effort you put into adding service roads and private/public land mapping eventually filter it's way into the Overlander? The topo maps available in the Overlander are awesome, but using them in a 3D driving mode would be amazing. Maybe releasing an upgraded Overlander with the MURS comms and ride share could reinvigorate that platform.

    Will there be a larger screen available in the future so we can stop using the 7 inch Nuvi or Drive garmin's? With the larger screen it is easier to see than the smaller Montana, which is approximately the same screen size when moving.

    That processor looks horribly slow when moving the map around. GPS’s are out. I’ll stick with an iPhone and and off-road offline map app.

    1) are topo maps for Western Canada available for this? (have a Zumo, several Rino's, & couple other older Garmin GPS units - are the topo maps I have purchased for them able to be used in the Tread?) 2) Is it suitable for Mountain Snowmobiling? 3) If it is kept in a glovebox - will it still operate properly?

      All great questions. Tread is preloaded with TopoActive mapping, which includes coverage for Canada. With that said, it has limited coverage in the Western most portions of Canada. I would recommend contacting our Product Support team of experts that will be happy to assist. They can be reached at 800-800-1020 or support.garmin.com. Also, the follow link shows the TopoActive map coverage. support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=PTGFy0FGvg4Y3Euo9WXGl9&productID=702373&searchQuery=topoactive&tab=topics

    This seems to have more off-road maps included compared to the Zumo XT which just has ActiveTopo map. Will these maps be offered individually from Garmin?

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining 3 роки тому

      Thank you for your question. These off-road maps were put together specifically for the Tread, and are currently not offered as a separate purchase.

    Does the radio and group/friend tracking work with old 650 rino's or 750 rino's ?

    • @GarminRetailTraining
      @GarminRetailTraining 3 роки тому

      Thank you for your question. Since the Tread communicates via MURS and the Rino's communicate through an FRS/GMRS signal, they will not communicate with each other.

    • @GarminRetailTraining

      Thank you for your question. There are many differences between the two products, so I have included a link to a product comparison chart that is also accessible from our website for any of our products. You will see the Overlander has some features that the Tread does not, and vice versa. I hope this helps.

      Thank you for your comment. Depending on your geographical location, our Garmin devices (including Tread) will be preloaded with the mapping for that area. For example, from our Garmin UK website, Tread has preloaded topographic and street maps of Europe, Africa, Middle East, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.

      It’s MURS in the VHF band which is better in wooded terrain than GMRS. It’s only allowed 2 watts, but it has external antennas for roof mounting. It should be good for 1-2 miles in the Forest, and 5 miles in clear areas.

    I have a Garmin Watch, Overlander, InReach, handheld GPS, Dog E-Collar. Usually I get excited about Garmin new products especially for a SXS since I just bought one. But watching this video, this product does not seem to be marketed correctly, Older machine, boring presentation, just keeping it real, you guys could have done better. Dont film in garage, and then show some guy with some mud covered glasses looking miserable like he is calling to be rescued.

    $150 android tablet with 550 dollar GarminTax. ok, got it. Notice how they never show it actually doing anything ? that's because it's as slow as molassis and the user interface is terrible. yep, just show the sxs doing stuff, so no one realizes it's overpriced junk.

    I am looking to purchase but need to chat with someone with full details on this to see if it will work to for our application. And which parts needed. Our main feature we are looking for is car to car communication in our side by sides. We are using a current system with vox (utvcom.com) but it seems to have some issues with clarity car to car. I like the sound of the Garmin with tons of great features. But we mainly want to be able to communicate clearly while trail riding. I have called Garmin support, I have waited on hold with Rocky Mountain forever. I am looking for someone with some first hand knowledge of this unit and can tell me details on this. A big part of my question is which noise cancelling headsets would work best with this system with VOX. Or what is the preferred headset that has been tested with this unit. Hoping to communicate with a tech/sales team that fully understands this unit. Thanks in advance Mark!
