I didn't know Jimmy Dean played the accordian!! Fantastic!! Guest star, Roy Clark!! Awesome!!! This is so cool. I didn't know he was in Western Swing. I bet my momma knew it.
This was a year before I even came on the scene. I mostly remember JD from his later show. And songs “Steel Men “ and of course “Big John “. jimmy’s book about these times is a great read. “Thirty years of sausage. Fifty years of ham. I always admired this man. He just acted like it was all so natural. If you read the book. You will just love the part about reversing the bill for the doctor.

Incredible footage!! Historical to say the least! The time code...who cares!! Thank you!!
This was about the time when Roy had done background guitar work on Marvin Rainwater's "I Gotta Go Get My Baby" for 4-Star Records. Jimmy never had an accordion LP made for 4-Star, Mercury or Columbia Records, unless he was uncredited.
Clark had been a member of the Texas Wildcats, but Dean fired him because of his chronic lateness. Dean never missed an opportunity to give him breaks, however. Find one of Clark's interviews. He didn't have an ill word to say about Dean. So far, I haven't found anyone who did!
Great show. I like Jimmy better than Tex Ritter and Red Foley and all those singers that would take turns to introduce the Opry. I know it's all pretty much scripted, but Jimmy seems more in tune with actual people.

A 21 year old Roy Clark looks like a kid. I was born in March of 1954.
14:15 That early guest appearance of young Roy Clark was worth the wait-for.

Dean was so young. Didn't know he came out of Texas swing. He was 24 or 25 at this time.
The important thing is the print was still projectable and viewable.
