- About the UH-1D "Huey" - Multipurpose Utility Helicopter:
The UH-1D “Huey” is iconic in American military history. Commonly seen in media depicting the Vietnam War, the Huey was responsible for changing the way we conduct armed conflict. Before the advent of the helicopter, troop mobility was restricted by their movement on the ground. The helicopter allowed troops to be inserted and retrieved in a fraction of the time it took to march somewhere. When the helicopter was first introduced into the Korean War, the use of these vehicles to evacuate casualties to MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) units near the front cut the death rate for wounded soldiers to numbers never seen in war.
Thousands of these helicopters were deployed across Vietnam, fulfilling roles including medevac, troop transport, and gunship. The image of the Huey filled American televisions during the first fully-televised war in history until mounting casualties and public protest ended the war in 1975.

I just bought mine from you guys and im watching this and its making me feel amazing. I was making a decision between the ft17 Renault and the Huey and my grandpa fought in Vietnam (1970-1971) and he was on hues wand I wanted t get one. Im crazy for history and legos so you guys are amazing thanks

This might be a challenge, but you should try making your intro into a stop motion!

It is said and written out of 11.835 helicopters serving in Vietnam 5.601 were downed by gun fire - from primitive rifles to modern anti-aircraft missiles. It was sad this statistic

@@KrazyJake88 Afraid not. Re-issuing it would require a license from Bell Aircraft and that's not possible at the moment.
@Cobbz 289 Well you *could* get the instruction kit “vietnam bricks” which includes instructions for the 2015/2016 huey (It has sliding door but no side door, but it’s mostly the same) as well as instructions for a bunch of other stuff

It’s highly unlikely, they discontinued it about a year ago. However, if my estimations are correct, they *might* make another huey in 2021. (They made one every 3 years so far; in 2012, 2015, and 2018)

Sorry man (or woman) they produce them on limited runs so once they retire it (which the did in March or something) they don’t make anymore. But you might be able to find a few in their stores in IL and MN
