The Mission Ready and SOMS (can't speak for the CAMS) are full of features I was looking for... primarily large access and pockets for gear, while having a rugged look and assuming 5.11 is actually built for a "lifestyle". I was disappointed with both. Neither is durable enough for the lifestyle their appearance would suggest, and certainly not at the price they are asking, and both are a bit heavy for the weak performance. I used the SOMS as a motorcycle gear bag that could double as a standard suitcase for longer trips because is is actually damned roomy inside. Alas, it didn't take long for straps and seams to fray, buckles to get brittle and break, and the reinforcing rods to snap. It's just not built stout enough for it's own size. Surprisingly, the damage wasn't from using as a gear bag, but from being used as a suitcase by my wife and I when consolidating our clothes and being checked when flying. The Mission Ready was primarily used as a gear bag for when I was racing off road. It is also big enough for three days worth of clothes and gear and some food, but just isn't durable enough to handle being dragged in and out of truck beds and enclosed trailers. It lasted one season, but was showing signs of it's demise after one weekend. Since then, I have switched to using smaller tac bags and pouches, all of which can be organized and stuffed into cheaper and simpler roller bags or large duffels. Replacing a $40 duffel each year is much easier than replacing a $350 SOMS bag after two years. But if you are a "tactical tony" and must have a bag that looks the part, the 5.11 stuff certainly has the cool factor.
The Hex config was a great idea. Unfortunately it didn't seem to take off as well as they'd hope. The AMP 24 in black still one of the best looking bags.
love this review extremely helpful
Awesome video! Thank you!
Badminton racquets.. ha ha
amazing done,take care.amigo, ;)
They are very heavy bags. Be ready to pay $200 for going overwight limit at airport.

great review! thanks!
Appreciate that. Thank you.
This was super helpful thank you ❤
Appreciate that, thank you.
Is the CAMS able to be used for traveling through airports? Not sure if there’s a height limit
I have the CAMs for military deployments… But for civilian travel , probably too big . Would have to use SOMS and below
Agreed.
Doesn't the CAMS exceed the common 62 linear inch airline limit for non-oversized checked baggage?
And they are pretty heavy
I have 120 liter travel bag. From my experience if you fill it up it is way over 23 kg. So it won't be efficient for airplane travel.
i dont get why 5.11 didn't applied the hexa grid onto the LBD XRAY or anywhere else...... such a shame...
