Just for information, I can't remember if it was mentioned in the video, but you must do at least 12 damage to the block in order to gain EXP, so if it takes 244 min you need to be at least doing 256 in order to gain exp.
Very true. Weirdly enough while checking Mining mechanics in 1.0 release - it did feel like this is no longer a thing. But maybe I was confused. Did recheck it a couple of times tho - still was giving XP
Very informative video. The 1 hour from level 1-100 is impossible though. At level 90 with 1255 mining damage and 76.6% mining speed with a scarlet drill it takes me 4:20 for a single level. At most it took me 5 sec to repair each time the drill broke, constantly hitting lava without having to stop. So just for the final 10 levels that's close to 45 min.
I dont think drill is influenced by mining speed boost. I think it only has effect on pickaxes? Although full set mining speed pickaxe is a little bit faster than hand drills. It's not that different enough to make me suggest you to get the set. Since I think most people only need their mining level to be 80.
Fastest way to get any kelp? I'm sure it has something to do with drop rates for each kelp as well as total number of drops from fishing that way - with glow bait, etc. for boosted chance of getting nonfish item. Curious what your take is on it.
If you need kelp to feed Kelple - the best way that I can think of is getting Acid water from the Larva Hive biome and fishing in there. Yellow kelp has the highest chance of dropping amongst all other types of kelp. In a version 0.7 Kelp was changed from valuable to consumable but due to it still being "Valuable" as a tag - boost your valuable catch chance and cancel fish minigame if it gets on a hook. There is way... Hidden knowledge to level mining using 2 maze walls and never breaking a single wall. Fastest I've found (around 100 hits) but it's a bit too late :D Maybe will do an update video someday

I got the set you said and I only have 819 mining damage? (while holding scarlet drill to) I even tried getting everything to level 18

Yep. Logic is still the same but strats are different now with the 1.0 release
