I own the 6 SE and seeing all these details of the moon amazes me again and again. For planets the six is just shy of perfect, but a barlow lense will arrive soon. Thus I totally agree! Thx.

I've got (about) the same one, the Evolution 6. I've bought it because I have only 1 arm, and for not to drop it I chose the 6 above the 8. And when your barlow arrives, you'll going to love it even more, especially for the details of the moon. I have the Celestron Luminos 2.5 barlow combined with Baader Hyperion 10, 17 and 24. Love it :)

I own a Celestron C8. I use a Celestron dew heater ring which works really well. During winter, pretty much everything is coated in frost after a night of imaging - except the corrector plate on my C8. Works wonderfully!

Question. I was just wondering why you recommend the SE version, when Celestron makes an Evolution version with built-in WiFi and battery? I know it’s more money to begin with, but once you buy a power tank and WiFi dongle for the SE, it’s getting a lot closer to the cost of the Evolution 8”, so I’m curious as to why the SE is recommended. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Living down in Tucson right now is a perfect time of the year for viewing (before Monsoons get here) The views are spectacular. The only problem I have with planetary viewing is that my scope isn't tracking the planet and I constantly have to adjust it. I use the Starsent auto-guide and the Sky Safari pro 6 app. I still haven't been able to figure out why it won't track

I have one. Got it a year ago.Excellent planetary view. Seen Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Hello. You mention aperture as perhaps the most important item for viewing planets, because of the amount of light it gathers. Question. How does that compare or contrast with focal ratio? The 4SE only has 4" aperture but is f/13 or f/14. The higher that number would be better for "smaller" objects because of a narrower field of view.

Hi there! Aperture and optical quality are the most important attributes next to seeing conditions when viewing the planets.
Focal ratio has little or no benefit except when using an achromatic refractor, where the longer focal ratio telescopes have less false color aberrations

@@SilasAlvizuris Great question! We do sell the Celestron EdgeHD 14, we can ship this product to California, and it is perfectly safe to purchase from our website. Here is the link for the Celestron EdgeHD 14 on our website: www.highpointscientific.com/celestron-edge-hd-14-f-11-aplanatic-sct-ota-with-edge-hd-optics-91060-xlt

I agree with you on the Nexstar 8. Have had one for 24 years and the electronics went out. I may get the Nexstar 8 with the Evolution mount. It will be just right for all my observing. More expensive I know. Thanks for the video.

Ok so the 8" SCT is a great scope but NOT on that mount . Its too heavy for the fork mount .. the 6" version is well mounted though . Also , somoeone else commented that a Maksutov is better on planets , and as thats what ee are talking about we should say that statement is true as a MAK will offer more contrast than a SCT , but , the SCT cools faster and is more versatile and collimation is certainly easier on an SCT than a MAK ( although MAKs rarely need collimating ) . The cost of a Nexstsr 8se is also an issue .. currently at £1495 in the uk its too expensive. Once again the mount is the problem here . Paying for that mount ( one that cannot be operated without power btw ) is not ideal. Thats why the evolution series is a better bet as someone else mentioned on here .
    Great video as always Teegan

Maksutov gives much better images and never requires any collimation
