A few notes: 1- greyed out challenges are done; You gain nothing from activating them, and the bonuses you earn are permanent for that planet. For example, beating all 3 challenges on your home planet got you double damage fuel and drops for ALL prestige levels. If you blow the core up with only the frozen challenge active on prestige 3, you would get the 3rd level of bonus for all prestige levels, and also wouldn't need to do it on prestige 2. There is no need to do all 3 at once, and never to do ones that are already done (greyed out) 2- I'm fairly sure that if you look at the settings-> controls, it says that laser is activated by clicking. I'm not sure that it means the laser equipment, but it's worth trying. 3- Now that you have missiles, any planet's prestige level where you can go through all layers, even if you need to use grenades, can be prestiged; If it has a challenge that allows you to do it even with it active (frozen on home, for example) you can also complete it (since you only "hit" blocks when you aim them, you can go past the last layer, hug the wall while looking at the core, and hold W to do it safely) 4-The reason why you felt like your armor was so far ahead wasn't the armor, but the regen; Armor reduces the damage blocks do back to you, but regen gives a percentage of the blocks health as fuel. If the block has enough health, at a certain level of regen you recover as much health if not more from destroying it than what you lose, making it seem as if you take no damage. You also regenerate from ANY destroyed block, including by grenades, missiles, etc.
@@Shadow_284 I kept shouting at the screen to buy the regen... but he kept not buying it. Same thing happened on Nodebuster too, until he finally did it and then wondered why the game was suddenly so easy.
Its been a great series so far, i have nothing to add except when haelian says "wow its been 40 minutes" i also think "wow it's been 40 minutes" there's definitely some arcane time wizardry going on here haha
Hi, just a tip, you’ll basically be transitioning from melee to ranged build from here on, it’s just how the games upgrades will work. The armour never scales as much as the block damage in this game, so you’ll want to avoid actually contacting blocks to stay alive. Drill damage has little use in my opinion. Block health directly correlates with the fuel usage, i.e. your health bar. Basically every hit does fixed damage. If you have enough damage to oneshot a block you’ll feel tankier because you wont be taking as much instances of damage, which again depends on block health. Dont forget about upgrading the ore drop percentage path, there are useful upgrades there. Id say focus on missiles next and then the glass upgrades after that, you’ll find the game a lot more satisfying from here on.
Re: mouse for your wife - get her a Logitech MX Master - it has a couple things that would be great for life in spreadsheets - horizontal scroll wheel, and THUMB BUTTONS. Even if she doesn't use them for forward/backward, you can map them to other functions - if I was always in spread sheets I'd probably map them to copy/paste
The Lens Enhancer gives you a laser that can be fired with left mouse button to destroy blocks at range at the cost of fuel, it doesn't affect your drill damage. Beat the challenges at the highest prestige that you can. Once you do beat a challenge, you don't ever need to do that challenge again (until you can beat it at a higher prestige). The passive bonus from completing a challenge is permanently active (only on that planet though); you do not need to have the challenge selected for the bonus to be active. If a challenge is greyed out, it means that you've already completed it at that prestige level, and doing it again is completely pointless.
@@torrentails not sure what your experience is with it but I didn’t find that power up very useful compared to the others. It was just too hard on fuel. Effectively the extra damage was not worth losing your health.
AH ok thank you! I was a little lost on if you keep the bonus or if you need to keep the challenge on (the next episode I may still be confused, I apologize).
Haelian, cores don’t let you see more planets, it’s the vision upgrades that do. Also I noticed you asked if you’re saying silicon wrong in the first episode and yes, you are saying “silicone” which is a synthetic material where as silicon is a natural element 😁 Just got to the end of the video where you see the upgrade… made me laugh a little 😂
Gilmore Girls is my comfort show! I have the lines "And the moon's never seen me before/But I'm reflecting light" tattooed on my arm. That's from the song that plays when Luke and Lorelai dance at Liz's wedding.
you only take contact damage, so ranged attacks are free. you can hover above an area and pepper it with attacks like the missiles/nades and get resources/the core without caring about armor
I breathed a sigh of relief when you finally checked the middle upgrades at the end of the video. You kept cycling through the same upgrades in the corners all video!!
My previous Logitech mouses all had double clicking issues, it's due to them cheaping out on the switches. I've since gotten an Endgame XM2WE that has optical switches.
1) Challenges If the challenge is greyed out you already have unlocked it, if you reactivate a greyed out challenge you are just making your life more difficult. To the right of the challenge there is how much you are boosted right now (passively). If you try the challenge on a higher prestige the boost will go up. 2) Upgrades If you upgrade damage, you also will get more damage. The most useful upgrade (right now) I think it would be the "yellow fuel" (electricity boosts fuel), the more blocks you break the more max fuel you have, the more max fuel you have the more fuel regen you get. Yeah, this game doesn't explain anything (but is good anyway)
I just bought myself another Razer mouse, because my beloved old Logitech G600 gave out and they unfortunately discontinued the G600. After a bit of testing in a few shops I didn't like the feel of the Corsair Scimitar or Steelseries Aerox, so the Naga it was. I got fairly big hands and the Naga is massive, so that helped a lot; plus I absolutely wanted an MMO mouse.
If your wife is mostly using Office apps she may want to consider a trackball instead of a mouse. A few people I know in similar roles swear by theirs, and Logitech remains a good brand
May I give the Extremely Weird mouse recommendation of the Ploopy Adept Trackball. My wrists have felt so much better now that I’m scrolling through large documents with a trackball instead of a mouse
@Haelian hey, just wanted to respond to your mouse question. I am a mechanical engineer, and use a rollerball mouse. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists and the ergonomic design helps me so much when I’m at my computer for 10 hours straight. Would highly recommend!
Milestones are auto u got the 80m from them and upgraded the multiply damage by 7% thing. U Also got a bulldozer skin. I think every prestige renews the quest things per planet and adds a +×1 to it when u complete it idk if they automatically boost though.
For productive work I believe the Mx3 master is really comfortable for extended use and has a long life span. Razer still makes good mice but it’s gamer focused.
I think glass crafting is above and left of the electricity tank. You noticed it when you first unlocked it an episode or two ago and then haven't moused over it in ages. I wonder if something could be done differently with the UI to call attention to it? Like if you're looking at an upgrade that needs steel, highlight the node that unlocks steel. It might be a deeper structural criticism of the upgrade tree that glass cost upgrades aren't in the tree after glass crafting
I spent about 45 mins of this video waiting for you to click on that upgrade while you talked about prestiging to find new planets... challenges: once complete, you passively get that bonus on all prestige levels regardless of the box being checked, to complete you must destroy the core at a given prestige (you should only complete them once on the highest level you can destroy a core until you can beat the core at a higher prestige) prestige: increases the amount of resources per block and health of blocks and max possible challenge bonus Every upgrade (except shiny blocks) is worth getting. Poison is one of the best ones until you wind up really deep in the circuit board tree.
haven't seen the rest of the episodes yet, but get your wife a Logitech MX Master 3, it's ideal for not-gaming things, and a horizontal scroll wheel is life-changing in spreadsheets
Mouse suggestion: I have a ContourDesign vertical mouse and it's SUPER comfortable. Software is a little clunky, but there's a few programmable buttons and my wrist has been feeling pretty great since I made the change
I use my Mad Catz R.A.T 8+ mouse and a Roccat Kone AIMO and I'm absolutely pleased with them. Just saw in a short search that they aren't even expensive anymore (relatively spoken), when I'm considering i paid 130€ or so for it 😂
For a mouse if all you're really after is longevity nothing beats steelseries rival. It's taken me 15 years to kill two of them. By comparison I went through two Razer Naga in less than 2 years. I'm a very heavy clicker, so I break the LMB on any mouse that isn't steelseries, basically. Was the same with my logitech and my microsoft gaming mice. The LMB just dies, then the scroll wheel follows.
Talking about mouse, for heavy user non gamer how about a vertical mouse? I've been using the Logitech Lift and after a bit of adjustment period loved them for working uses. Gaming still use Logitech G102 (really need to upgrade have experience double clicking etc)
I still like Razer mice, but arguably the best "productivity/non-gaming" mouse money can buy is the Logitech MX Master 3s. I want more buttons, and my hands are too big for it, but I do like it a lot...
For my work mouse, I like Logitech, but I do feel like you should their cheap mouses are cheap and don't last, but in their middle range they feel solid. Also I feel like Razer was just early into the gaming products niche, and that's where most of their positive sentiment came from, and they just held onto their laurels and didn't adapt as the rest of the market grew up around them.
Honestly, relate to your wife there, I rarely watch anything a second time because I just don't feel a reason to. The exceptions are movies I really enjoy.
I’m only 6 mins in and Carly past you… I can’t figure out how to get diamonds yet. You mentioned that you were not interested in 💣s I have to say it’s revolutionized how I’m able to farm. You’re going to need gems though. Let me know if you’re ok with me spoiling the tree that you need to down to get them. :) Just realized you have already beaten it lol
For the record, 34% is the same as 0.34, so the damage is added on top of the normal damage (so overall x1.34). Also, I just don't understand why you are trying the challenges on the highest level prestige of the planet/moon when you haven't even tried it on the lower levels...
A few notes:

Re: 2) there is another laser that you unlock later that is activated. I think the equipment is just a passive bonus
2 is correct, you fire the equipment laser with left click, and the other laser (orbital laser that you get way later), is right click
Yeah, I was wondering why he kept ignoring regen when IMO it seems like one of the most useful upgrades.
Worth saying, laser, grenades missiles, and orbital lasers do not count towards the hit count challenges.
