Yeah, same conclusions here, needs a matte anti-glare screen protector! Seems so simple. They've also changed the camera bump since mine and nice to see there is a pen. Hoping that it isn't just a passive stylus!

If the main takeaway from this device you're looking for is the viability of reflective LCD, why don't you make an experiment in your in-depth review and apply an external anti-reflective screen protector on half of the screen, just to see how much of a difference it really makes.

Well because it's not as simple as that:
      1. This is a review loan device that I cannot modify
      2. In order to apply a different matte screen protector I would need ro invest time and money of obtaining one that is the best fit.
      3. The whole point is reviewing the product as a whole, not the underlying technology.

@@MyDeepGuideThanks for your thoughts. With the limited amount of devices I think it would still be great how one can make it fits most folks requirements. But yeah the loan device has a protector applied already, and you dont have to invest money just for the sake of it. But still if you have one laying around it would be quite interesting

For me the importance of this technology is for reading.
If its better than e-readers only in reading than it’a a winner for me.
Yeah Matt finish does matter, I want it. Even reflection is not imp if under certain conditions it can be viewed only for reading.
I had Max Boox Pro 2 for 4 years.
3 days ago acquired Tab Ultra C, for reading 4 to 8 to 16 hours a day, text books.
13.3 inches I prefer with good battery life. Tab U C is also not bad. But am satisfied with boox Max Pro 2, the battery has swollen, only using it while powered.
Going to order battery online and will replace it myself.
Am waiting for e-reader 20 inches, 18 - 22, black or colored, to display 2 pages to text books side by side. It would help me retain page memory.

i'm very interested in the potential of this technology since I discovered in this channel, but it seems that this not the product to see if it has any chance. It's really a shame, because I would love to have the choice to acquire a non-OLED tablet that makes consume content less painful for my eyes.

Try LED lighting in the 4000k range on reflective screens for a mix of both hot and cold color temps. The lighting you're using looks more cold (blue) so the image color is more dull.

It would serve well as a flat press if you collect and dry leaves. 😊
Or as a cutting board 🤭

I had some pain retro orbital left eye, after using tab ultra c, with front light.
Now using it without front light, so far no head ache.
    Only used for 3 days.
This device is also good, I will look into it.
For me its competition is with tab ultra c, tab x, scribe, others, only for reading. My top priority reading without eye strain.

Thank you for the video. This device was available on the kickstarter campaign. I took one, I hope I can make it better with a matte / anti-glare screen protector.
You don't have the Hisense Q5 by any chance? or the TCL Nxt Paper S8 (RLCD)? It would have be nice to compare the two.

I applied a Brother mate screen protector to my Hisense Q5, and do it very easy at the eyes.
The Nxtpaper s8 have a fantastic mate finish screen, but is prone to have scratches.
I hope the Eyemoo s1 done the same outcome that the Q5

Maybe put a screen anti glare on for any further consideration ? I understand you show the out of the box use - but seemingly it is not really possible ? It is not conclusive, the manufacturer did it not before shipping - but I think I'm not the only one really interested in its potential even if a work around is kinda unavoidable...

  • @yuvilio
    @yuvilio Рік тому +2

@ChalidRaqami also noted the glare reflection in his review. He put an additional matte protector on and said it helped reduce glare. I did the same for the Hisense Q5 rlcd tablet and it made a huge difference (for less glare, better writing surface, and less smudging). Might be fun to test, if budget allows.
Also curious if the front light can be shut off completely. Like if you load a white page , turn it to zero brightness in a dark room, would anything show?

    • @juanmartin494
      @juanmartin494 Рік тому +2

I have a Nxtpaper s8 and a Hisense Q5 with a mate screen protector. Maybe is better to have a bright screen a put on an antiglare protector, in my experience the s8 is prone to have some scratches, and if you put an mate protector, the screen is too dark.
The Hisense Q5 is more readable with its mate screen protector and the screen is protected against any scratches

The Hisense Q5 already have a screen protector. Did you removed it and put an other one?

I think they misunderstood which part of the screen is meant to be reflective 🤔

It's very odd, because it's not subtle at all, and I don't understand how can someone see that and go "yep! I'm happy with that!"

So is this promising to reduce eye strain as much as color e-ink? Say one has a good antiglare matte screen protector and the right lighting conditions? If yes, why no love? I think I doubt it's truly so easy on the eyes. I would love to see someone do this kind of test; i realize it's subjective but still seems to be the whole point for a device like this (I know there are a minority who are just thirsty for battery life but I think most are about saving our eyes).

Just apply a matte screen protector.

    • @MyDeepGuide

@@MyDeepGuide I'd just buy a Celicious matte protector that approximated the size of the screen and cut it to fit. I'm so sick of reflective LCDs, I've become a master at applying them.

The unusability of the reflective screen in reality is going to be a way bigger problem than the upgradability of the OS.

Why? So that I can show a false representation of how the product looks like? No, this is how the device looks like when it is being normally used, and potential buyers should see the device as it is, and as they will see it when they use it.
