Ukraine needs charitable clinics where animals can be rescued quickly, efficiently and free of charge, with the necessary equipment and medicines. Dr. Greg Wolfus, who set up such a clinic in the United States 12 years ago, is also convinced of this.
"I think that with the recent devastation that has taken place in Ukraine, it is very important that we have not only a place where people can get their animals cared for, but also a place where students and veterinary professionals can learn how to care for these animals," says Dr. Greg Wolfus.
He notes that the most important thing in a charity clinic is to have a general practitioner, a clinician who provides all basic veterinary care. And then there are highly specialized specialists.
"It could be dermatologists, it could be surgeons, eventually, it could be dentists, dentists - people like that. In terms of space, these charity clinics really need to have three examination rooms so that there is a good flow of patients. They need to have an operating room where they can perform procedures, and enough space to have several people in the room for training, and enough basic equipment to meet those basic needs," says Dr. Greg Wolfus.
