Casca's child becomes a vessel for Griffith to take a physical form. This happens near the end of Conviction when the apostle that looks like the egg of the king finds him and takes him along saying they will die together. Later, Griffith hatches from that same egg, using the child to take flesh. This happens around chapter 160 or 170. The child only gets to be himself during the full moon, and at the end, Griffith comes back, shedding that single tear every time. It really is tragic, just a little kid running back to the parents he's been following and loving from the moment he was born, just to be torn away over and over by the same man that destroyed their lives. Imagine having to go from being loved by both of them, and finally having the family you've been craving to be a part of again, to becoming the man that said "I sacrifice" and the sole object of his father's hate and his mother's pain.
Popping in at the start just to say how grateful I always am for these full series reads, especially with how hard they must be to read and film! Even for things like this that I've never heard of it feels like spending a day with a friend! I'm feeling completely rubbish physically today and it's really comforting to watch these super long vids ❤
For what it’s worth the fandom consensus is Theresa’s dad didn’t molest her and the reason she was scared of him was his behavior becoming less and less like the loving father she knew and she saw something was wrong I totally get the parallel but most think her dad on this account alone is innocent (he still ate Vargas’ family)
1:31:00 so basically griffith used casca's demon child to have his ''rebirth'' to human world so griffith's new body is part of guts and casca and when during full moon griffith turn into moon child he acts more of like casca's and griffits child and want to be with them and that why he vanishes before sun goes up

I think that the way women are put into compromising positions is often a little gratuitous in Berserk. However, with the Eclipse specifically, i think that it was necessary to linger in that moment and fully experience how irredeemable Femto is.
Just want to say that I’m unable to watch the whole thing because I’m not all of the way through myself. But I have this video saved and I will return each time I finish another arc to get just that little bit further in this video. I love these videos, it helps me decide if I want to start reading the series. I think the arcs sounding soo interesting, will have to add this to my list to try
The demon infant/moonlight boy was Guts and Casca's child that was conceived in Volume 9. When Griffith/Femto "did the deed" to Casca during the Eclipse, it tainted the child, turning it into a demon. The child would continue haunting Guts in the Black Swordsman and protect Casca occasionally during Conviction. When the Egg Apostle swallowed the demon infant (which happened by chance) and used itself to birth Griffith (which was supposedly what was supposed to happen) at the end of Conviction, the demon infant and Griffith "fused" together. Griffith is now using the child's body as a vessel, but he (unwillingly) surrenders control to it during the full moon or when Casca is in danger. This is the reason why Griffith kidnaps Casca and brings her to Falconia, because his transformation to the moonlight boy is a weakness that needed addressing.
If any of you are interested, check out Allinall’s animation of the lost children arc. There’s two videos they made, the first one is about four minutes, the second one is 18 minutes long. altogether that makes about a new episodes worth, so you get another episode of Berserk essentially.

And about the former god hand formation from skull knight's memory. I had a theory about it, it is either they were killable or their cycle just due and being replaced by the new candidate. But one thing for sure, the god hand position is not permanent. And my other theory about falconia is, that Griffith pull the population that scattered and concentrate it in falconia so he can perform the grand sacrifice to break that cycle/law
It’s so sad that kentaro miura died before finishing the manga but at least his friends are carrying on the torch to honor his memory, and want to do it justice
I turned this video on and my hubby yelled, excitedly, "GAVIN!" 😍 Then he said he's always wanted to read this series & that Keanu Reeves has been trying to make this into a movie for years because he loves it so much!

So about the chitch question. Here is the thing. Chitch is manifestation of the flower spirit. So her life was based on how well the flower life. So just by plucking that withered flower and let it flew to the field is enough to answer that question. So it all goes to our believe, will the plucked and withered flower can regrow when you just put it on the soil or not
2:15:50 that's not how i read that scene, to me it was more how it had been awhile since guts could fight while not having to look after or protect anything other than himself. Much like how things were before he met everyone and he was alone
1:01:45 no he definitely cared a lot when the little girl died, he puked because her blood got on him and it really fucked him up. Remember this was to the front Guts was putting up to keep himself from devastation
Tiny, maybe not super needed thing since you're all caught up and may have found a pronunciation guide already, but here, for some of the one's you weren't sure on: Farnese is pronounced like FAR-NAY-ZAY. If it helps, remember it's an Italian name. Don't blame yourself for not getting that, I believe the vast majority of the English Berserk fanbase said it like FAR-NEICE or FAR-KNEES until the (infamous) 2016-17 anime came out and most of us actually heard it spoken for the first time. Also, Ivalera is said like EVIL-ERA. There's even at least one instance of Puck calling her Evil Airhead as a joke in a panel (which makes more sense when you know the pronunciation). As for Shierke, honestly just say SHEER and then any K noise you like and you're basically good. Whether it's a hard KH, a KUH, KEY, KAY. Whatever suits you're fancy and you're close enough. KAY is more-or-less how it's said in Japanese, but it is a German name so there's wiggle room on that being fully correct.
If you ever get the time id suggest watching Super eyepatch Wolf's video "why you should still read berserk". Its a very heartfelt insightful view of the series and Miura's life.
@@moussaadem7933 Vagabond i can agree with. However, Monster I definitely disagree with. I would not compare the 2. Also , Claymore is still great in it's own regard. You can't go comparing the unanimously agreed upon ranked 1 dark fantasy to everything out there. Claymore is just another revenge tale. Another title that gets swept under the rug is Feng Shen Ji. Super gorgeous Manhua with another similar revenge tale.
You should read the Mori tribute manga (his friend that is continuing the story) made about his lifelong friendship with Miura.Currently not available on any legal site,if you want to read it is called Kentaro Miura Memorial Manga. Mori and Miura used to brainstorm ideas for days for the creation of the Eclipse and future events including the ending.Their friendship was pretty much the inspiration for the Guts and Griffith dynamic. Mori is also an accomplished mangaka by himself, having 4 completed and 1 ongoing series under his name. His debut manga Holyland is a great recommendation if you want to read his manga.
Casca’ s assault by Griffith is about Casca, and also Guts. To say it’s not about her is very reductive. He is attempting to re-assert his control over both of them. When he forced himself on her before the Eclipse that was also him attempting to reassert his dominance after seeing them as starting to slip through his grasp by finding solace/love with each other. Miura actually also said in an interview he’d of handled things differently as he got older so it’s not just you feeling like the S.A. is gratuitous. The Knight of Skeleton is a dark foil for Guts, so he’s roughly speaking ‘good’, but also he was literally consumed by his grief/obsession with revenge and is kind of trying to keep Guts from the same path
Wow i cant believe you managed to read it all so fast, when you said in your recent manga haul video you had just begun the golden age arc. i know the video was probably recorded a few days before it was uploaded but i thought the video was like at least some a few away. I kind of doubt Miura planned what berserk was going to become because imo the black swordsman is a horrible way to write a beginning and so many people are turned off by it, i dont think id make it through if i wasnt already determined to read through the whole thing, still one of the most beautiful mangas though
I started reading on New Year’s Eve and finished on Jan 10th so it took me like 11 days to read it all, I’m kinda impressed at myself haha but I couldn’t stop reading
Oh btw i really want to hear your opinion on two of my favorite pages. The first one is at the end of conviction when Guts sees Griffith again. Guts goes berserk, but after hearing Casca trying to reach out to him he snaps back. The second one is at the beginning of the Falconia chapter when the crew is on the beach and everyone is having fun. Then Guts says "I thought, never again. Never could i... watch the sun set and be this calm ... never again... could i sleep the night through." To me these pages is what berserk is all about.
Griffith and Guts' kid share a body. The demon child was gobbled up by the behelit apostle in which Griffith was reincarnated, so now they are one. It's very simple.
casca baby shares body with griffith because in the conviction arc the egg with legs eats the baby and griffith uses it to be reborn in real world but at the full moon the baby takes over the body also the body as lil bit of influence over him for example when guts and zod were fighintg after the conviction arc he protected casca because the baby wanted to protect his mother
Please please add Dungeon Meshi (delicious in dungeon) to your vlog TBR! the series ended its decade-long run recently and the anime is airing rn already greenlit for two seasons. It reminds me of just about the best parts of Narnia and LOTR and harry potter (before the downfall) that i loved so much as a child - a slow unassuming beginning with a cast of characters that grow and develop in really epic/psychological proportions, basically a study in Grief and need and emotional hunger. Flawless worldbuiding and really diverse cast! The author loves exploring fantasy cultures and it has canon background queer characters (as well as a heavily implied gl pairing among protags) i think you'd really like it.
I really, really want to watch this, but I've only read through volume 12 (currently waiting on volume 13 to come in to my library from another library within my state's public library system). I'll probably slowly watch the vlog as I make my way through a few volumes a month.
The Egg that was going to give birth to Griffith ate Casca's child. During the full moon the child that is part of Griffiths new body takes over. Details on this are obviously still lacking to some extent.
We didnt read it week to week...we were lucky to get few chapters every few months near the end And from what you said, I believe we need to bully you into reading Vagabond It is often hard to tell what chars are feeling in this manga. Like yeah, Guts is sad, but there could be so many reasons behind it. He could be hating his own weakness, that misery followed him all his life and always spills on innocents around him and its so unfair, that he has to become a monster to fight monsters, it just feels like universe is constantly attacking him, everything keeps falling apart and its overwhelming The boy is just filled with trauma to the brim and he keeps himself from just breaking down by convincing himself that it doesnt bother him....even though it does so terribly I honestly see Griffith as victim here too. He was child with a dream and he got battered down and was given a choice between being a godly creature or live a pitiable existence. I dont think he was always the evil people think of him. Femto is what he became after most of his humanity was stripped away. I say most, cause what he did to Casca was a cruel and personal on human level. He didnt kill Guts there, he wanted to humiliate him and symbolically take Casca back as his property as he blamed Guts for taking everything from him Casca is in danger of that kind way too often in the manga, but that Femto chapter was really horrifying Luca is absolute angel for sure. Kushan empire really existed in our world and Kaniska was its most prominent emperor Chitch still hurts..... Rickert's slap was so satisfying!! The real God Hand. I think if Griffith showed his supernatural power to stop the slap, it might've made him look bad Guts sword seemingly did hurt Griffith's hair, even if it was a little bit Child and Griffith share a body. He goes to his parents whenever he can, what Griffith feels at the end was lingering feelings from that child. We were told of how parents are important to the spiritual beings too. I think Griffith might not be able to murder Casca or even Guts directly now. Thats why he chose to kidnap instead
i am pretty sure griffith just pitties and hates himself so much he does not want to be saved, with maybe caring, but clewarly selfhatying and pitying and fearing to be seen that way. I think its that, we see later how he falls into selfpity and unlike guts not to improve from that and live, he didnt try. He didnt try to find a way. Thats why he was suceptable and gave in at the end.
Completely agreed about Casca's treatment in the Golden Age arc. What I personally hated the most in the Eclipse scene, besides what you said about her being SAd waaay too frequently in the arc to begin with, was that Miura had her striking sexy poses during, like straight out of a hentai with boobs bouncing and arched back and all. This is a woman geting r*ped and the mangaka depicted her like she's enjoying it instead, like it's supposed to lowkey titilate the reader. Complete fail on Miura's part imo, the one single flaw of the Eclipse.
I was scared I’d get backlash for saying it in my vlog 😅 you’re right, the way it was portrayed and the fact it was like the 4th or 5th SA of Casca (or near SA the other times) in the arc it was just tooo much, the low point of Golden Age by a mile

It’s so sad that kentaro miura died before finishing the manga but at least his friends are carrying on the torch to honor his memory, and want to do it justice
I just bought the first one in the series…so I am going to come back and watch this when I read it! ❤
I turned this video on and my hubby yelled, excitedly, "GAVIN!" 😍
Then he said he's always wanted to read this series & that Keanu Reeves has been trying to make this into a movie for years because he loves it so much!
I won't be able to watch all of this all at once but I'm looking forward to it.
I just to say that is a cool sweater/ hoodie(?) you got at in the intro.
Thanks, it’s NerdForge merch! And hope you enjoy the video!
This video is going to make my weekend, I just know it.
I really hope so 🙏🏼
After watching this I really want to reread it again, Berserk is dark but so good!
Tiny, maybe not super needed thing since you're all caught up and may have found a pronunciation guide already, but here, for some of the one's you weren't sure on:
Farnese is pronounced like FAR-NAY-ZAY.
This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Had to come back to like/comment (downloaded vid) but awesome video, Berserk is my intro to manga and has been amazing
Glad you liked Berserk mate, it definitely changed my life for the better.
I need to prepare enough food and drinks to go through this vlog 😂❤
Food, drinks, and plenty of breaks 😂
If you ever get the time id suggest watching Super eyepatch Wolf's video "why you should still read berserk". Its a very heartfelt insightful view of the series and Miura's life.
Oh great shout, I love super eyepatch wolf but avoided Berserk videos in case of spoilers, and now I can watch ALL the UA-cam videos I can hehe
@@GavinReadsItAll I'd also recommend watching The Masked Man's Beserk documentary. He has a playlist dedicating to the series alone
Omg thank you for this video 🤭 I know what I’m doing for the next THREE HOURS
🙌🏼 enjoy!!
Claymore next? :)
You won't regret it. It's like Berserk's sister.
Like Berserk’s sister you say 👀
@@GavinReadsItAll Yessir!! Trust!
I never hear of it being berserk's sister
People usually recommend Monster or Vagabond as being on the level of berserk
Sounds like the Mori tribute manga will make me cry 😭 and Holyland sounds good, thanks for the rec
Moris manga in itself are pretty good too.
1:01:37 even there he cared, he allowed her to stab him, he just looked at her for a while, couldn't bring himself to killing her at first.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Just wish I read it earlier
Never could i... watch the sun set and be this calm ... never again... could i sleep the night through."
To me these pages is what berserk is all about.
Sounds like a great idea to read it yourself first then come back to this video! I hope you love the rest of Berserk
FINALLY !
It’s been a whole year since my first Berserk video, I really did take the p*ss with this haha
I've had a really bad week, and you've dropped this at the perfect time for me to finish off my night on a high note tysm 🥲
Oh man sorry to hear you had a bad week, I hope next week is way better for you
Based on your comments about Berserk, I think you'd enjoy Gideon the Ninth... and the final book in the series is due out soon!
Ooo thanks for the recommendation
insane dedication
It’s what Berserk deserves
The Egg that was going to give birth to Griffith ate Casca's child. During the full moon the child that is part of Griffiths new body takes over. Details on this are obviously still lacking to some extent.
Thanks for explaining, some of it went over my head
Those look bad-ass on the shelves
They seriously do! Some of my prized possessions now
I might have to get this series for my son, (he's 19) it sounds really interesting, and would suggest Tokyo Ghoul and Deadman Wonderland 😊
Normal speed is like 1.25 LMAO. Cheers mate!
Read kingdom and magi, and kubera the last god, on mangadex, is a masterpiece.
We didnt read it week to week...we were lucky to get few chapters every few months near the end
And from what you said, I believe we need to bully you into reading Vagabond
It is often hard to tell what chars are feeling in this manga. Like yeah, Guts is sad, but there could be so many reasons behind it. He could be hating his own weakness, that misery followed him all his life and always spills on innocents around him and its so unfair, that he has to become a monster to fight monsters, it just feels like universe is constantly attacking him, everything keeps falling apart and its overwhelming
The boy is just filled with trauma to the brim and he keeps himself from just breaking down by convincing himself that it doesnt bother him....even though it does so terribly
I honestly see Griffith as victim here too. He was child with a dream and he got battered down and was given a choice between being a godly creature or live a pitiable existence. I dont think he was always the evil people think of him. Femto is what he became after most of his humanity was stripped away. I say most, cause what he did to Casca was a cruel and personal on human level. He didnt kill Guts there, he wanted to humiliate him and symbolically take Casca back as his property as he blamed Guts for taking everything from him
Casca is in danger of that kind way too often in the manga, but that Femto chapter was really horrifying
Luca is absolute angel for sure. Kushan empire really existed in our world and Kaniska was its most prominent emperor
Chitch still hurts.....
Rickert's slap was so satisfying!! The real God Hand. I think if Griffith showed his supernatural power to stop the slap, it might've made him look bad
Guts sword seemingly did hurt Griffith's hair, even if it was a little bit
Child and Griffith share a body. He goes to his parents whenever he can, what Griffith feels at the end was lingering feelings from that child. We were told of how parents are important to the spiritual beings too. I think Griffith might not be able to murder Casca or even Guts directly now. Thats why he chose to kidnap instead
Greatest manga
3 hours?? Lemme get some popcorn.
Me personally I like more Millennium Falcon than Conviction but othet than that I agree with your ranking.
Anyone could say any arc is their fav and I’d understand, every arc is still amazing
i am pretty sure griffith just pitties and hates himself so much he does not want to be saved, with maybe caring, but clewarly selfhatying and pitying and fearing to be seen that way.
The witch girl is pronounced like shur-ka I think. That’s what I say
Perfect, thanks for letting me know!
I wanna hear those thoughts
I hope you enjoy!
Holy fuck 3 hours
Berserk deserves every minute
I hope someday you read Bleach.
oh damn I thought Gavin x Berserk was dead
The Gavin x Berserk romance could never die
You wont read hunter x hunter?😢
Schierke is rhymes with "beer cup"; just don't say the p.
You also may have a bite size chunk of trauma at least...
wtf is wrong with you xD
i was 100% sure you have dropped the series and now there comes this out of nowhere
😂😂 I could never drop Berserk haha I just needed time, reading the Eclipse for the first time last year was a lot haha
