    use jiffy-trays with a removeable poly lid. then spray with a mister bottle. when plants are about the size of a quarter trans-plant them to bigger cups. then feed with a dilute fertilizer solution from a mister bottle. no more hassles growing tobacco....

      you can turn it into medicine if you know how medicine works. Smoking anything period causes toxifying of the body, so if permanent detoxification of tobacco tar is your goal, you'll just have to find somehow to make the tobacco medicine formula from someone who knows how to ferment the tobacco juice and put about a tsp of it in a drink or like a shot every day for about 9 months. just keep doing a tsp a day for 9 months.

    thankyou! I had just recieved my tobacco seeds from" Aliexpress ", and was wondering how to grow..My dear husband smokes a little but the costs of cigarettes is sky high in Puerto Rico, like everything else...and getting worse by the second, but that is another story. I am now the proud owner of two of your E-books on my Kindle! (grow or die: the good guide to survival) and ( the survival gardeners guide to growing tobacco, barter,...) anyway I love your videos first for your sense of humor, second with things getting so expensive, you have helped me be more self sustainable here in the tropics, say hi to your lovely wife, and again thank you.

      I think people give a longer time for germination because it is unpredictable to an extent.
      I've tried growing most seeds I can get and have had interesting results when it comes to germination, sometimes it's fast and happens over night, other times it takes so long that you give up.
      Years ago I tossed the soil and seed I had trying to grow after not popping up for weeks, just to discover the plant growing in the garbage can a week after tossing
      (so around a month for that particular seed even tho I've had seeds from the same plant germinate or sprout overnight and within days)

    I absolutely love your videos and books!
    Do you have a video you can link me to about seed starting in general? I'd love to see information that takes me all the way through the process - from seed in the dirt to transplanted outside. Especially for some of the more difficult type seeds like sea buckthorn or hops. I have decent luck germinating overall, but my seedlings always seem to die before they go outside, or the ones that live never grow and don't do much but stay tiny. Thanks for all you do and keep up the fantastic work!

People have said they use potting mix for their entire grow which seemed weird to me because they would need nutrients and stuff

    Well I don’t smoke but I am considering growing tobacco for another reason. Ticks hate tobacco so growing it where you don’t want them to be is ideal. They also repel parasites so much so that birds will make nests with the plant after it dies. Turning it into fibrous strips helps the birds out and if you have chickens or other animals, they can benefit from this for their bedding.

    I heard we are not supposed to cover them... why would that matter? I like the greenhouse effect with the plastic. One question: I'm in Seattle area and my germination failed a month ago so I finally get to it mid June... we have late summer so I'm okay with this and the only time I grew some I grew huge Hungarian Broadleaf and soso Connecticut Shade.... Both prevailed under an Evergreen Tree till Sept... I was blown away... It gets cold and dewy at night till 6am so if I keep them outside in a shady area and bring them in at night where its warm in the shop, shouldnt work great? Thanks bud... oh and you are super funny man... shared

    Hi David, i am in a bit of a predicament as i want to plant a little patch of tobacco in my yard next year. I have 2 possible areas where i can do this. The first area is constantly exposed to full sunlight which scorches the ground, as well as there being literal tons of coal on the soil over the years and its completely black and quite hard soil. The next spot is under some fruit trees, constantly covered by the trees and has very little sunlight over the day, the soil being soft-ish and suitable for planting. I know that both of the locations arent ideal so i would like to ask you where would it be better to plant it?

    • @davidthegood
      @davidthegood  6 років тому +2

      Is it possible to throw together some quick raised beds on the sunny area and go up with your soil? The sun is definitely better than the shade.

    • @igorpadurjan5714
      @igorpadurjan5714 6 років тому

      You're right, i forgot i could try and do that. The sun is extremely intense there though, i could even say scorching, wouldnt it kind of fry my plants if i put them there? I am also wondering which type of soil would be good, every video on growing tobacco i've seen notes to use a branded soil such as miracle grow, however i do not live in the us and i dont have a very big choice of soil and the soil i have in the yard is not particularly good for plants, so i would appreciate if you could write me up a rough description of what soil i should use. I was wondering too, is it really worth growing 3 different types of tobacco for cigars? My problem with it is that i have to order 3 different types of seeds and there always ends up being leftovers. Thanks for the help and the fast reply

    Works like germinating carrots. Tobacco can be planted as a trap crop near crops that are attacked by many types of plant eater bugs. A liquid like compost tea can be made into a repellent but I don't remember a repellent for what (deer, mice?). I would probably apply it wrong and end up with no garden. The yen and yang of it all. It's something in between cigar and cigarette, best as I can tell. A patch of them showed up in a friend's yard and he offered me some seeds. The "mold" may just be the exudates. I had some go white on me and they still smoked well.
