Vacation for us until the wifes health rendered her bed ridden was to jump in our motorhome we bought for retirement and go wherever it was we decided we wanted to go at that time....Out of state relatives, Camping in out of state state parks...National parks & Attractions....Casinos/shows....But my favorite place to vacation is my favorite place on planet earth motorhome or not...Luckily i skied for quite a few yrs so i have been here bout a 100 times and could visit 100 more times especially in the winter...The place, LAKE TAHOE....I highly recommend if you never have visited , DO SO....Just dont make the South Shore your whole gig...There are many other things to do all around the lake and surrounding area...Truckee, Reno, Carson City , Genoa, Minden, Virgina City , all with a short driving distance...
My last three vacations where a cabin and fishing boat on bull shoals ( nice smallmouth ), next was motorcycle trip around Arkansas and last one was dispersed camping on ouachita lake.
When I worked full time my get away was backpacking in Michigans UP at Porcupine Mtns after Labor Day. Hike for days and never see another person. Carry only what you need to survive. Very satisfying.
You read my mind. Heading to the Superior National Forest for my 60th B-day to listen to nothing next month. Have a couple of nights right on the big Lake Gitchee Gumee (Superior) Listen to the waves crash all night. Camping is for me.
Graduated 1958 17 yrs old Dad circled jobs in paper dont come home till get job. Got job at huge insurance co in Penna..went on trip w group secretaries to NY city...it was all concrete no trees like PA. Rude people shoved us onto elevator Empire State Bldg. I couldnt get out of there fast nuf...married at 19 lived in Idaho!! Went camping every yr $2. a nite in tent w young family, we have awesome memories!! Even had Ranger Smokey took us on hikes to find berries showed us nature films back by Lochsa River, clear cold swimming Heaven....83 now, all kids took up camping w their families!!❤😂
Vacations in the mountains camping was the only way to go and n my younger years. Ow traveling from my home in MN to Washington. Stopping along the way taking my time is now how I vacation. Making sure I have handicapped accessible rooms when I do stop. Beautiful country to see. Stayed away from big cities. Going south to southern Alabama. I have now traveled to all but ortheastern US I have even been there Alaska 3 times. Of course that is as flying retired so when I can still like that go on adventures. We have an absolutely beautiful country that God created🌹
Hot Springs is a tourist town. Every year I watch fools walking up and down the strip, buying stupid trinkets and about to have a heat stroke. I would prefer October in a cabin, with a fireplace and a hot tub. I wasted my life working like a slave. Regrets of an old lady. I'm going to miss you Mike. I pretended you were my friend, and you made me feel like that. Keep your head on a swivel, something evil is coming. Thanks for the good times! God bless you 🙏
I've been to the superior national forest 12+ times. Remote, portaging into the BWCA with my Mom and Dad. 🎣 🏕️ No people, no resources, no shelter, no cell service and boat loads of fish. What you bring in is what you have to survive with.
I don't like cities I prefer nature , but sometimes on vacation cities nice for a little change for part of vacation or whatever.usually always do nature vacations day to day but I like cruises best for big vacations even tho I'm a nature guy. Live rural so. Not a people person but if stay to urself it works

I'm a retired chef and I worked many resorts. My favorite was Mackinac Island in MI. I do prefer the mountains to the ocean any day.

I grew up around that area. Between silver Bay n grand Marais best. Usually see most moose just west of silver bay

For relaxing i grab my tent, a sleeping bag and head to the woods to unplug for a dew days
