Dang. Not even a word, and yet this still taught us all so much.
Christian Baumgartner which one?😜
Joe Morello had an exercise that really gets the arms burning. 2 measures of 16th singles, 2 measures of 16th doubles, and 2 measures of 16th paradiddles. Repeat.
Watching this brings Tony Williams' teachings to mind... he did this for hours at a time... and thanks Austin for giving us some great ideas in your routine!
BE THE DRUM reminds me of Tony style playing/exercises for sure 👌🏽
Satisfying to watch and listen to this warm up
Austin Burcham
the single strokes that you do make me want to be a better drummer. Thank you! You are fantastic!
This is THE différence between true drummers and others. When people say to me : "You are a very good drummer", I smile... I won't be satisfied before control basic techniques like single strokes, double, and snare paradiddles...
I dont think I am a Drummer without this...
Developing that core facility is super important... I still prioritize it even after 18 years of playing haha. Every time you sit down to play, dedicate 10 minutes to just single strokes and 10 minutes to just double strokes... then you can play ;)
I'm thinking exactly that way
this will single handily improve my drumming
The switch from middle snare position to rim and then Toms is helpfull.
Love the artistic lightning of the footage too especially that red light!
Sooo worth saving to my drummer's playlist! 💥
Yes! Excellent. That's what we all should be doing. Thanks for setting us
on the right track
Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you man
Power and fluency, this is stratospheric
Single most important thing to do PERIOD!! Takes me over an hour 2 warm using singles👌
Absolutely perfect.
Great Practice!! I would mention that you can do the same thing “silently” as well and relatively cheaply by buying a thin yoga mat at a dollar store or walmart,, ( about 8 bux,)- and cut them to size- this also of course makes you work just a little harder as the bounce is seriously reduced.
Yeah Man! Going from floor tom to snare drum at those higher speeds is always a challenge! Totally different response from each drumhead. Sounds / looks great, man. 👍🏼👍🏼
Nossa que controle absurdo, que consistencia! Parabéns 🥁
A true believer in what is real. Nice work.
nice drum sound!
Hey Austin! Could you explore the possibility of doing a study the greats on Danny Carey’s polyrhythm in the middle section of Lateralus? Thanks!
Very good 🔥🔥🔥🥁
Everybody knows that he already warmed up so well before the video 😅
great sounding drums...what about the cymbals
Truly inspiring! What snare is that? :D
Pearl Sensitone Phosphor Bronze 14x5 🔥
The faces you make is all of us
Sounds like buddy rich I love it
As if I could ever do what you just did. I do the Morello exercise (below) it has helped me greatly. regardless, i enjoy your presentations.
Can you do a study the greats of Jo Jo Mayer’s cross stick groove in his performance spotlight video?
Epic
This is better than most drum solos.
Austin your videos are great, I’ve always wandered which remo head are you using on your snare? And which one is your go to snare head? I love your snare sound
The good ol’ Ambassador 👌🏼
Austin Burcham shit i should have known, thank you for your answer and keep up these videos you deserve more views and subscribers love your vidss
What about those fills in Fear Inoculum... 😉 a little tricky. I don’t have the time to work them out haha
Nice and even, similar height = good technique and nice use of hi-hat, very often underused by modern drummers.
Didn’t know Dross could play drums.
¡Pertubador!
Alot of drummers under estimate singles cause they are the most simple rudiment but to achieve control speed and endurance it takes years of hard work. I always struggle with them.
It is the easiest to learn, but the hardest to play well at higher tempos.
Strato Caster WATCH DENNIS CHAMBERS
Wow?
I think Buddy Rich would be proud...................
That's just your warm up? You could tour all around the world with these rhythmns...
Went back to the 4 piece?
Yea, I always end up coming back to it for the simplicity and efficiency. The 6-piece is nice when it's all dialed in but tuning it and keeping it in tune is just a constant chore that always ends up distracting me.
Dude what?
What headphone are u using in this video?
Direct Sound EX-29's
One day my technique will be as clean as yours.
...until then, back to procrastinating.
