The rain was mixed with ash and stank of rotten eggs. In Tarlac and other places we passed by, the lahar flows buried thousands of houses up to the second floor. You can only see the rooves of the houses. Other people were buried alive when their houses collapsed due to the heavy weight of accumulated ashes that was continuously dropping and hardened by the rain. Since that tragedy was on the news, everyday after school we were sent to the roof to brush off ashes. Luzon lost lots of lives at the start of the '90s. Northern Luzon was hit with a magnitude of 7.7 earthquake before the big eruption of Mt. Pinatubo of Central Luzon. It took almost a year before we got good drinking water from pumps. And we were still terrified of when the next after shock will happen. At that time, it realy felt like the world was going under.

Saw the huge smoke from mt pinatubo in broad daylight and in the afternoon horizon turned very dark followed by ashes starts falling from the sky with volcanic rocks creating loud and disturbing noise from the roofs of every houses. Followed by earthquakes, and I heard people and children crying praying and terrified. No electricity, nowhere to go and no idea what will happen tomorrow. Luckily a group of families took us in Nueva Ecija where some good and caring born again christians fed us and offered their small church for couple of days for us to stay.
Ram Samia Channel I was turning 5 years old when the eruption happened. I lived in Pampanga, we really suffered a lot and thought it was the end of the world. Our parents were not around at that time because of work/business. Only our maid who was very old stayed with us while our parents were away from us. When my mom saw the news on TV she rushed going back home and crying while on the bus. When she came, we prepared our clothes then my father came 1-2 days later with our jeepney. i live at my dads office and the ground is still covered and well most of the houses are already rusty and destroyed but i still live here with my 2 children peacefully. And yes my wife died 4 years ago but i took over and i was the new boss of our office. Respect to the previous boss for doing this since my dad is also one of the officers but died 12 years ago. Here in Mindanao, we always pray that Mount Apo will not wake up. It’s the highest volcano (a stratovolcano) in the Philippines. It is considered as active volcano and it might be the most dangerous eruption in history if ever the mt apo will erupt. They always tell that taal or pinatubo is the deadliest but they don’t really know that mt apo is still active.

Luckily a group of families took us in Nueva Ecija where some good and caring born again christians fed us and offered their small church for couple of days for us to stay.
Ram Samia Channel I was turning 5 years old when the eruption happened. I lived in Pampanga, we really suffered a lot and thought it was the end of the world. Our parents were not around at that time because of work/business. Only our maid who was very old stayed with us while our parents were away from us. When my mom saw the news on TV she rushed going back home and crying while on the bus. When she came, we prepared our clothes then my father came 1-2 days later with our jeepney. Together with our relatives, we went to our relatives on my father’s side in Nueva Ecija. Haaaay it brings back the memories 😢
i live at my dads office and the ground is still covered and well most of the houses are already rusty and destroyed but i still live here with my 2 children peacefully. And yes my wife died 4 years ago but i took over and i was the new boss of our office. Respect to the previous boss for doing this since my dad is also one of the officers but died 12 years ago. They lost their best officer and 2 years later the previous boss died and i took over and i have managed to make peace around the office for 8 months straight

I remember this. I was 7 turning 8 yo, I was outside playing in front of my house. I looked up and saw what I thought was smoke going straight up. I was later told a volcano erupted. About a day or two later, our roof, and entire neighborhood was full of ash!
Here in Mindanao, we always pray that Mount Apo will not wake up. It’s the highest volcano (a stratovolcano) in the Philippines. It is considered as active volcano and it might be the most dangerous eruption in history if ever the mt apo will erupt. They always tell that taal or pinatubo is the deadliest but they don’t really know that mt apo is still active.

Hi, soo tinanong ko si mama kung meron siyang unforgettable experience nung bata pa siya tapos sabi niya nung sumabog daw yung Mount Pinatubo. Sabi niya 12pm daw yon tas biglang dumilim na parang gabi. Sa Bacolor, Pampanga pa nakatira sila mama non. Ngayon same province padin pero sa Mabalacat na.
Shinare ko lang yung little story time namin ni mama kanina, hehe.

Let me clarify, an active volcano is a volcano that is expected to explode and is showing signs of disaster. A dormant volcano is a volcano that is not expected to explode in a thousand or even a million years. Dormant volcanoes rarely erupt but when they do, its extremely hard to deal with. One example is Mt. Pinatubo, or Mt. Saint Helens. They literally affected the climates in the whole world for years. Active Volcanoes can do that to, but its usually a bit weaker, and is not expected to last long too much.

It's biggest eruption was from 35,000 years ago, then the second eruption is 19,000 years ago, third 7,000 years ago , 4th is 3,500 years ago, 5th is 500 years ago and the 6th is 1991 which is the smallest of all pinatubo eruption pero napakalakas. I was born the day after it erupt. My mother told me that she was on labor when it erupted. The travel from our home to the hospital make it difficult because of the ash fall and the typhoon.
Lorenz Contreras i can imagine how hard it was. My grandfather, when he was still alive he tells me all the time how hard it was during and after the eruption. Months of no electricity, water and phone line.
