More awesome than I remember. I went to the Anaheim round a few years in a row, starting with this race, until Jeremy McGrath won in '93. This was the first race where Factory Teams were required to use production line motorcycles. Team Honda turned to Pro Circuit to modify their engines, most other teams followed suit quickly thereafter, this really put Pro Circuit on the map. I had forgotten that R.J. used prototype upside down forks that night, two years before they reached production.
What a great race, this might'v been the one that put Supercross on the map. I love the humbleness of the riders being interviewed, especially the Little Professor giving props to Team Honda instead of himself. It sucked that Jeff Ward snapped throttle cable in the qualifier, might'v been a 3 way battle...
70,000+ in attendance? They said it sold out for what was it, 6 or 7 prior seasons? Crazy. Today 40,000 would be a good showing. Either the sport is dying, or media access is killing it (internet viewing).

I remember the interviews after the race, they showed what a class act David Bailey is.

Baily never would have had a chance if Bumworth hadn't purposely slowed down RJ
I seen an interview where Johnson said he ran out of gas.
