'it will ensure your health, fame and fortune' said the robotic fortune cookie. The background video is ideal for this story which I'll get back to now. So far so fun. Cheers.
I will add my thanks, too. Keith Laumer did a lot of great work, I have most of what he wrote. His Retief stories are very educational, besides providing some humor in Science Fiction.
@alantaylor353 There are dozens, spanning about 10 years. 1960 to 1971 or so. Unfortunately, Captain Laumer suffered a stroke in 1971 or 72 in his early forties. His writing was never the same, afterward. His Displomacy and many other stories are based on his USAF service in US Diplomacy in Burma during the 1950s. Great author!

I so appreciate these readings, such a relief to hear Sci fi in a non grating accent. It's a rare thing, I think, thank you for all this effort!

Wow, thank you! I am so glad you're enjoying the stories.
I love vintage sci-fi. The stories can be as naive as they are prophetic

He's fast becoming a favourite, especially the Retief stories.
This is the first Retief story I've heard & I immediately thought "It would be great if there were more"... I'm glad to know that there are.!!! 👍 👍
