I haven’t been to Cosy Club for years, but I enjoyed it every time I went. I ordered the Cosy Eggs with salmon every time. Great review as always and have to admit the slow pork belly had my mouth watering as you cut into it. I started yielding once a few years ago and DID ask for one, and they asked me if I wanted milk in it 🤬 well that a white coffee! 🤬🤬🤬 I'm gonna take my foot off my soapbox now, before I really get going 😂😂
Great looking breakfast, don't like runny eggs so would have gone for scrambled, but £4+ for a coffee is a bit over the top. Excellent review though Greeno and those sausages looked perfect. Best wishes 😊👍
I have never heard of Cosy Club but that breakfast looked so tasty. The poached eggs looked very nice indeed. Everything looked tasty. I'm not a fan of smoothies so I probably wouldn't purchase one of those mainly because I wouldn't be able to drink that amount of pure juice. Nice looking place too. 👍
One of the medical benefits of your channel is if I have lost my appetite I binge watching your adventures that stimulates the Hypothalamus in my noggin. (gives me the munchies).
Hi Greeno, been the Cosy Club in Leeds as I teach there a few times a year. I had the Classic Breakfast with poached eggs instead of fried or scrambled. The sausages were very good, the same with the rostis, the bacon was good, the same with the beans but the show stopper was the wine tomatoes, the nicest tomatoes I think I have eaten. I love tomatoes and thes were top notch, sounds strange but as a tomato freak they were sweet, juicy and perfectly fried. The sourdough toast was as well top notch. So I gave it a 8 out 10 as I have database with all the restaurants I or my wife and I have visited since 2001. Just to have a reference for when we are going out in different city's and countries. Another great review, Greeno, you're very good at describing the flavours and textures which really makes your videos very watchable together with your calm personality. Well done, mate.
Thanks as always for the kind words. We are also tomato freaks here at Greeo Towers. During our French sojourn this summer I dread to think how many Euros we spent picking up tomatoes of all shapes, colours and sizes around the markets, and even in the supermarkets. For flavour they knock anything we get here into a cocked hat!
Nice looking breakfast, Greeno. Nicely done eggs, two lots of bacon, good-looking sausage, and excellent potatoe squares. Hash browns, at least those odd looking trangles that purport to be hash brown but aren't are an abomination. Julienned potatoes cooked to a crisp in a patty is the way to eat hash browns, no triangles, please. As a,ways, a great review of a decent breakfast.
Hi mate. Love the videos. Just curious, where did you learn about cuisine? I'm interested in doing something similar to you and just after any advice? Cheers, pal.
I have worked in and around pubs etc. at times, but most of it is just about enjoying food. And just give your honest opinion. Not everyone will agree with it, but that's fine :-)
“Lime fruits are actually a bit healthier. They contain higher concentrations of phosphorous, vitamins A and C, calcium, and folate. “ They’re also kinder to delicate stomachs. That drink looked delicious.
I remember when the Gunwharf Quays was HMS Vernon. The last time I was there the Cosy Club wasn't there, but everything changes. The breakfast did look good but the overall cost was a bit steep.
Greeno, next time you’re in gunwharf walk over to Southsea which is around 10/15 min walks. There’s a lovely Portuguese place called algarve grill, we found it when we visited gunwharf last month. I love a day out there and going to Southsea but food choices are fairly limited at gunwharf!
@@GreenoEats yes mate, they’re not awful and they do a job but it’s the usual Italian chains etc. There’s also another one in Southsea called El Toro! A great Argentina steakhouse and they’re both very good value and portions, a lot cheaper than London anyway 😂
Have you considered reviewing "The Lounges" chain? Kinda like this place. We are regulars at Delfinos in Poole (on Falklands Square) and Circa in Westbourne. There's loads of them all over. Superb breakfasts, awesome tapas and lots of interesting other dishes, all well cooked with quality ingredients. This breakfast looks magnificent and a few quid extra for really good food in a lovely environment is always worth it. Already buttered toast is an executionable offence to me though and makes me very angry as it's just so stupid, just provide some butter. Great review!
Always egg first mate. lol What a different twist on a breakfast, it looked delicious. So jealous with that one. London £5 for a coffee mate. Sounds great to me. Lol
The vinegar is to help set the white. At last a 'pommie' breakfast menu that looks sensibly priced. The Cosy Eggs @10.95 equates with 'eggs benedict" at my local country cafe here in Oz ($22.00). A large (mug) cappuccino here is $5.00 (2.50 pound).
Excellent review of a real quality looking meal - I don't think it was overpriced in all fairness. I take my hat off to you foodie reviewers ....... I got really annoyed when you mentioned about people saying you have to eat the eggs asap ...... really ??? ..... these people need to get a Life and cease this meaningless drivel. Greeno, you eat your meal in any way you wish ... you always give a fair review.
Heck, Greeno. That is a delicious looking brekkie. I know you don't like them, but I have forgotten if you were offered mushrooms as part of your meal. Odd there was no baked tomato or black pudding? The zapped up beans and the belly pork was a great addition though. And what of the brown sauce - regular or special ? The poached eggs looked perfect. The squashages looked a bit overcooked for my liking. A bit too high prices if it was Up North though. Keep it up !
I reckon you could get away with those prices in York or Harrogate, but maybe not elsewhere :-) I specifically chose something with no mushrooms. I did like the way that a little more thought had gone into the breakfast, the chorizo beans were excellent
@@GreenoEats The tourists might pay those prices but amazingly the residents of York and Harrogate are actually some of the lowest paid people in England. And we struggle with very high house prices so on the whole, there are a lot of families living on the breadline. When the confectioners were making chocolate in large quantities in York, there were a lot of well paid manufacturing jobs and likewise in the days of British Rail, it was a major employer in the city and all that too has gone. Apart from the tourists, the city with a total pop of about 250k is very dependent upon the almost 40,000 students at the 2 unis and colleges here but of course they also raise the cost of rented accommodation. Our city centre is now pretty much empty and Coney Street, once a thriving shopping street is now devoid of many stores except money laundering American Candy pop ups and mobile phone shops. Excellent restaurants open and close more regularly than I have hot dinners out !
Regarding Potato Rosti and hash browns, rosti have been around in other European countries for a very long time, you could call hash browns the "trailer trash Potato Rosti"!
An hour ago I polished off bacon, eggs and black pudding, but this had me drooling. Lovely place, but a bit too pricey. I reckon they make most of their money on the coffee.
Hi Greeno!💜🩵💙💕💕💙🩵💜 Breakfast looked tasty for £16.00 Were the beans homemade with the chorizo? Love the poached eggs, healthy choice. The pork belly slice, now that's ingenious. Looked warm and inviting. Is it disability friendly? There were a lot of stairs going up. Thank you for sharing a lovely breakfast. ❤❤🍽
There is a lift which caters for disabled guests, so that's a good thing. The breakfast was good. I think the beans probably come in that way, manufactured elsewhere, but they were blooming tasty!!
This was a really good breakfast. I've often wondered why most places don't bling up the beans with extra flavour, to me that's an easy no-brainer. I can't stand hash browns. They don't have much flavour, are usually dry and have the texture of toe nail clippings. I would go for bubble and squeak anytime. No mushrooms, that's a mistake, and I always swap out the hash browns for mushrooms.
@@GreenoEats sure in some cases, but not in this. That looked nothing special, and the place was dead, probably because it's overpriced. I'll still take the spoons with a pint included. 😄
I never thought I would see the day that British food would be lauded on international channels. Some sixty plus years ago the bill of fare was downright awful!Custard on everything, warm beer and cold toast.I was a Canadian kid trying to get a pop with ice in it. I started yielding once a few years ago and DID ask for one, and they asked me if I wanted milk in it 🤬 well that a white coffee! 🤬🤬🤬 I'm gonna take my foot off my soapbox now, before I really get going 😂😂
Talking of Green Juice, Please try out Starbucks Matcha Green Tea Latte with ICE, as my wife did and she really liked it.
Thanks for the tip!
Great looking breakfast, don't like runny eggs so would have gone for scrambled, but £4+ for a coffee is a bit over the top. Excellent review though Greeno and those sausages looked perfect. Best wishes 😊👍
Coffee prices are one of the biggest scams out there - cost literally pennies to make. But it was a very tasty one!
It was a lovely breakfast, with enough points of difference over your normal Full English - very enjoyable
Excellent breakfast
It truly was!
have eaten in many of these places around the country, always good.
I enjoyed it certainly
Great video
Thank you !
One of the medical benefits of your channel is if I have lost my appetite I binge watching your adventures that stimulates the Hypothalamus in my noggin. (gives me the munchies).
Haha, glad to be of service!
That breakfast really is posh, made me hungry 😊
Yes Jessi - a much cleaner eat than many English breakfasts (by which I mean not greasy really)
I’m no fan of the triangular hash brown (although the McD one is actually ok!)
I think that pond juice needed a double vodka to make it palatable
It tasted a LOT better than it looked!
@@GreenoEats it couldn't taste any worse Greeno
Looks like a nice breakfast
You heading up north soon ? Try North Yorkshire won't be disappointed 👍
I do have plans to - it's just a matter of timing
Nice looking food, Strangley different to what we get in New Zealand
Is that so? What would you get there then?
Looked good
Oh it really was !
“Lime fruits are actually a bit healthier. They contain higher concentrations of phosphorous, vitamins A and C, calcium, and folate. “
They’re also kinder to delicate stomachs. That drink looked delicious.
That’s good information thanks!
That looked delicious. Lovely review, thanks Greeno. Enjoyed the video with you and Gary Eats as he struggled with the hot curry! 😂😅😊
@@WendyS-3 Thanks Wendy!
I remember when the Gunwharf Quays was HMS Vernon. The last time I was there the Cosy Club wasn't there, but everything changes. The breakfast did look good but the overall cost was a bit steep.
I think the drinks prices pushed the cost probably a touch high, but the quality and the cookery was all there
Greeno, next time you’re in gunwharf walk over to Southsea which is around 10/15 min walks. There’s a lovely Portuguese place called algarve grill, we found it when we visited gunwharf last month. I love a day out there and going to Southsea but food choices are fairly limited at gunwharf!
Thanks for the tip - Gunwharf food choices are mostly chains aren't they, although at least a half decent variety of them
@@GreenoEats yes mate, they’re not awful and they do a job but it’s the usual Italian chains etc.
They're the same chain
They also have branches in Dorchester and Weymouth, so I have a plethora I could choose from :-)
@@PotatoPirate123 aah, I didn't know that. Thank you for the info :)
Looks very similar to the Lounges, but better.
I have a few Lounges near me, so I will try them for comparison at some point
@@GreenoEats I'd be really interested Greeno.
Always egg first mate. lol
What a different twist on a breakfast, it looked delicious.
So jealous with that one.
London £5 for a coffee mate.
Sounds great to me. Lol
It really was good. I am surprised they don't have any locations in London - a bit strange no?
Whack them beans on the plate and drizzle the brown sauce over, looked great greeno.
With the chorizo in the beans it didn’t need any more flavour, absolutely banging they were!
I think the quality of produce and cookery was very fair for the price
Excellent review of a real quality looking meal - I don't think it was overpriced in all fairness.
I take my hat off to you foodie reviewers ....... I got really annoyed when you mentioned about people saying you have to eat the eggs asap ...... really ??? ..... these people need to get a Life and cease this meaningless drivel. Greeno, you eat your meal in any way you wish ... you always give a fair review.
Ha ha, I am always willing to listen to constructive criticism… every day is a school day with an opportunity to learn 😂
Can you persuade Gary Eats to come down to Pompey too? 😉
You never know!
Haha - that's a great way of describing it !!
An hour ago I polished off bacon, eggs and black pudding, but this had me drooling. Lovely place, but a bit too pricey. I reckon they make most of their money on the coffee.
Everywhere makes loads of money of coffee don't they !!
I agree with everything above, apart from the mushroom bit, for they are clearly the work of the devil ha ha!!!
Pricey. Portsmouth thinks it's London prices!
It’s everywhere down South this pricing policy!
@@GreenoEats I'd rather a mixed grill from spoons for that sorta waad.
@@sicdoctor quantity over quality there though 🙂
@@GreenoEats sure in some cases, but not in this. That looked nothing special, and the place was dead, probably because it's overpriced. I'll still take the spoons with a pint included. 😄
I never thought I would see the day that British food would be lauded on international channels. Some sixty plus years ago the bill of fare was downright awful!Custard on everything, warm beer and cold toast.I was a Canadian kid trying to get a pop with ice in it. I ended up with an ice cream float at which time I just gave up!!!!
Oh yes, even just in the last 20-30 years things have moved on a lot!
