the sweetest thing is him whispering back to you. One of my cats has PTSD from a former abusive boyfriend and he has nightmares. He growls and cries in his sleep so from a little distance (without touching him) I say out loud "it's mommy, it's okay, Peanut wake up". Once he wakes up and realizes that I'm calling to him then he's okay. It's terrible that our animal babies go through this but it's comforting to know that we can help them :)
Aw oh my gosh. My aunt rescued a dog that was going to be put down the next day because she was in the pound. And they think she was abused because she is very jumpy, but once they tell her is okay she will calm down. Animals shouldn't have to go through that kind of mental and physical torture
That's heartbreaking :/ Likewise, my Wobbles had to go stay with a friend for a few months when I lost my home to a flood, so now in the middle of the night he'll start to quack in fear and when I talk to him, he knows I'm still right there and he goes back to sleep
I felt so sad when you talked about how unhappy Max was with his previous owner. He's a very lucky boy to now be with someone who loves and cares for him so much. Lots of love to both of you

From Sydney White and black cockatoos are everywhere here, they have a very loud sqwark, but they are beautiful and intelligent birds, they land on our railings outside, and we feed them apple and pear
So lucky! I'm in Perth, we're getting the rainbow lorikeet's atm, in our bottlebrush trees along with the year-round crowd of red wattlers. Sometimes I see butcher birds (their one of my faves) and I even saw a sacred kingfisher in Summer last year, just sitting above our two bird baths, looking gorgeous. We also saw 3 kookaburra's on the pagoda outside out house, one suddenly swooped down into the bushes and picked up a rat for a meal! It was incredible! He kept whacking its head on the wood, even though it was already dead! We have a bit of a rat problem here, but we do get the southern bookbook at night, helps to mitigate their numbers. Thanks for sharing! I only wish our local birds would come down to eye-level a bit more, but they tend to do that when summer arrives, playing, bathing and drinking from the bird baths we have.

Theresa Kennedy ~ Absolutely!! The fact that he studied about parrots and cockatoos says a lot about his character as well. He wanted to break the cycle of abuse for Max.
You had me at "I'd prefer that people don't send us donations because we're ok and I'd rather they sent the money to a foundation that cares for birds". On a platform where so many are out for themselves, this is very comforting to hear. Bravo! :) I've worked as a volunteer wildlife rescuer in my free time for a long time and it's heart warming to see the amount of care and devotion you exhibit towards your little friend. Sending you very positive vibes! :)
Dan, I have a 13-year-old dove, or, rather, he has me. I live in his apartment with him, and it's all set up just for him. I have no intention or desire to have a man in my life. How many partners would allow their partner to have a dove that flies loose and owns the kitchen and living room?
I'm only 2 and a half minutes in. I started crying when you said there were dents in the cage where he hit it to try and keep Max quiet. It takes a very special person to take care of a bird properly and I'm so glad Max found you. This is a good cautionary tale for anyone who is considering a bird as a pet.
I don't have birds so I really know little to nothing about them, I just went down a rabbit hole on youtube of parrot videos about cockatoos so he's my question. I know they demand a lot of attention and they get self destructive if you're not able to provide them with daily attention, would providing him a friend possibly a mate help with that problem to some extent?
Your commitment to this bird is absolutely beautiful! I have a house of birds as well.. Both my cockatoos are rescues and over 40 years old.. It is good to see a Moluccan fully feathered and looking so happy!

I hate that his previous owner sold him to you! He should have give him to you considering that you looked after him for six months; and would come by to feed and play with him after the guy got 😡. Moluccans are drama queens and the more you yell at them, the more they scream back. I have a lot of respect for you sir. You remind me of my father, even though I'm probably much older than you are. My dad was the kind of guy who would stop in the middle of a busy street to help an animal of any kind. He taught both my brother and I to respect, love and protect anyone animal or person especially if they're smaller and helpless, or old and helpless. He was the most compassionate person I've ever known. I like that about you. You've developed a father child relationship with that sweet little bird and you've decided out of the love you have for Max to care for him for the rest of your life. Like a true parent everything in your life must be done according to what's best for your child, Max. You're a better dad than almost any man I've ever met, besides my own. YaHuWaH bless you and Max. Shalom my friend
Thank you for responding to all those questions. Seems that Max chose you for his new caretaker for good reason. He sure is a beautiful bird. I appreciate the relationship between you and Max.
Max certainly found his way to the right human! For someone who never planned on having a parrot, and didn't know the first thing about Cockatoos, it seems he found his way into the life of someone who didn't know he NEEDED a Max. Your care for Max is so obvious. I've seen people who declare themselves bird people, who don't take care of their birds the way you take care of Max! I know you did this video awhile back, but I didn't find you until this past year. My husband died last April, and I started watching UA-cam videos. I hadn't had a bird since my kids left home, and hadn't even considered it - until I stumbled on a few bird channels - yours being one of them. I started wanting to have another bird last October. It's April 13, 2020, and I've had my Quaker for almost a month and half! In watching these UA-cam videos I learned about the Parrot Crisis - back when I had birds before that was totally unheard of. ,Although it seems that every animal I ever had while my kids were growing up was one that someone else couldn't keep! When you hit the question about a significant other your answer sounded like you've counted that out forever. I understand there are some people who are just built that way, but I would say that you appear to be fairly young (compared to me, at least), and it wouldn't surprise me to see the right person find their way into your life at the right time. That isn't something you have to give up on just because you allowed Max to come into your life. I know, I know - sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. I'm sorry - I guess it's just the mother/grandmother in me. But you just seem to be a wonderful gift that Max stumbled on, And you deserve to have a life that is as fulfilled as the life you have provided for Max. You ARE an inspiration! Thank you! 💖💝♥️
A very dear friend of mine always says God puts you where you should be. Luckily for Max this goes for animals too obviously. Much affection for you and Max.
One of your BEST EVER videos - nice to see some more of yourself and not just Max. That being said, I laughed out loud when you told the story of Max chewing the heater cord and he immediately chipped in with his own comments.
Hello there Max and Owner, thank you for the comments. That comment about eyesight explain the Greenwing parrot I met, and how it could tell the names of the species of birds it spotted. I remember I mentioned I would have needed binoculars to determine species - so there we got another small piece of parrot intelligence explained.
You are a perfect example of why people should adopt parrots! - "Adopt don't shop" Buying hand fed baby parrots is so cruel! You are a wonderful owner!
I'm very impressed by your understanding of Max and his species. It is like a 3yr. old that never growes up. It's easy to fall in love with the bird but to commit to his care says volumes about your character. I and all Max's friends will stick with you. If you ever need help, reach out, you don't have to squawk alone....
i imagine it must be incredibly difficult for such intelligent and sensitive birds like max to have to deal with their owner dying and having to be adopted by someone else. the chances of ending up with someone who won't take care of them properly seems sadly high. even people who are animal lovers and give them everything they need to be physically healthy often don't realize the kind of mental care they need. from watching your videos it seems max is lucky to have found his way to you and i think he understands that. i would love to have a cockatoo but i know that the responsibility would be pretty difficult for me. if i was for some reason forced to take care of one i would try to rise to the challenge with as much motivation as i could.. but yes a situation like yours almost is like suddenly having to adopt a child. i applaud you
Lol, you DEFINITELY have a Central PA accent! (My husband's family is from western Central PA, so I know the accent quite well.) It is lovely to see how you so devotedly care for this bird that you never originally planned to own. Possibly for the rest of your life. Bless you, sir!
I grew up with these birds. They require extreme dedication and care. They live incredibly long and you need to be sure someone whome they know will take care of them when you are gone. They dont call them the velcro bird for nothing! They will self mutilate, and yes they are loud! Imagine having a needy toddler for 60 plus years, well that's a cockatoo. They are not for everyone and I personally think most people should not own them because they often get neglected and mistreated, even by those with the best intentions. I think Max owner is doing an incredible job and I am so so grateful for people like you. Max is so handsome and healthy looking... love his cocka-tude....and boy do they all have one. Well done sir. Max is ready to give Tom Cruise a run for his money I think. He completely understands the camera doesn't he? And when he gets his Oscar in a few years instead of Applause we're all going to stand up and make a sharp left turn in a circle. Don't forget the head dip it's kind of like doing the wave.... I just love love love max!
Janene O'Neil I agree hun even if it helps buy that cheeky gorgeous little bird some treats or god forbid if anything happens and max needs vet care urgently then the vet bill is taking care of. It would be one last worry on Dans mind.

Ive watched this particular few times. While I can only speak for myself, at 53 years old, and basically content single, after relationships that I poured my heart and sole into only for them to having turned out to be nothing more than emotional learning experiences, I now ACCEPT and LOVE the fact that my best "long term" relationships are those I have with dogs. I had a Peach Fronted Conure and I was also his third home. But it was love at first sight for both of us. He also was not a “planned bird” for me either. He was pretty much abandon and if it weren’t for me I have no clue where he would have ended up. He lived with me for 10 years before he passed away in June of 2017. He was my soul mate and I miss him every second of every day. He was lots of work but was worth it. Enjoy your new friend!! 💜💜❤️❤️
Thank you so much for adopting that little one and I hope everything is ok. I adopted a green cheek conure (Isabel, now approx. 16 y/o) from one of my daughter's teachers many years ago. The teacher's teenage daughter kept throwing things at the bird everytime she made a noise, so I was asked if I could take her. Poor Isabel was traumatized and has never stopped being agressive, but she is in a loving home and seems happy living next to my Yellow Nape Amazon.
@@FranklinXVI conures might be small, but they are not the " quieter " bird. They can scream like crazy if they don't get the attention and care they need. If you want a quieter bird, take a cockatiel or quaker parrot.

This man has a heart of gold. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a significant other. God bless him and his little bird. Wish there were more people like this.
Ya no kidding! If I were younger, not bad eye candy, I'd move to Amish country and scope it out looking for them. It's beautiful there!
Oh you live in Pa. I live in Maryland near Pa border. 💘 PA. 😃
Every time I see this video I play it because I admire Dan so very much!

Why would people ask about this guys personal life and political beliefs??! None of your business folks. He really answered this question well!
Why ? Because people are brainless asses, that's why.
Precisely. Unbelievable. 👿

Max seemed to agree with you because son as question was asked her walked away lol

the sweetest thing is him whispering back to you.
Erika May aww you're so sweet! Good job!
Aw oh my gosh. My aunt rescued a dog that was going to be put down the next day because she was in the pound. And they think she was abused because she is very jumpy, but once they tell her is okay she will calm down. Animals shouldn't have to go through that kind of mental and physical torture
Downfall Dolfy oh my gosh. Yes I did. I need to edit that
That's heartbreaking :/ Likewise, my Wobbles had to go stay with a friend for a few months when I lost my home to a flood, so now in the middle of the night he'll start to quack in fear and when I talk to him, he knows I'm still right there and he goes back to sleep
Im sorry for your cat. But I didn't know that they can get PTSD. that's actually kinda interesting.
I felt so sad when you talked about how unhappy Max was with his previous owner. He's a very lucky boy to now be with someone who loves and cares for him so much. Lots of love to both of you
Bless his little Max heart. No wonder he hates going to the vet...being confined in a towel. Of all the cockatoos on here, Max is my favorite. Thank you for sharing this wonderful birdy...actually I think he's just a little person in a bird suit. ❤
agreed!
Yeah we get lots of rainbow Lorikeets too,go through a box of apples a week
I dont see as many Kookaburras nowdays, hope we never lose these beautiful birds
Pet birds are a big commitment. You're a good man. Thank you for sharing..
I am amazed that you basically have unselfishly put your life second to Max. It says you are a wonderful and compassionate person. I stumbled upon your Max videos and got hooked. I look forward to future videos.
Myrna Vitti The best part is these birds live a long long time so we get videos of Max to enjoy for a long long time!

Max: I'm gonna destroy this green paper that draws Dan's attentions.

Dan is the ultimate bird dad.
"All I knew was that he was a bird. And that he liked to say hi." 😂💗
And that shows the genuine character of this man,who I admire dearly 😃
Theresa Kennedy ~ Absolutely!! The fact that he studied about parrots and cockatoos says a lot about his character as well. He wanted to break the cycle of abuse for Max.

You had me at "I'd prefer that people don't send us donations because we're ok and I'd rather they sent the money to a foundation that cares for birds". On a platform where so many are out for themselves, this is very comforting to hear. Bravo! :)
I've worked as a volunteer wildlife rescuer in my free time for a long time and it's heart warming to see the amount of care and devotion you exhibit towards your little friend. Sending you very positive vibes! :)
Melted my heart to hear about Max whispering back "okay, all right" after you soothe him from his nightmares 😭
Yes that was beautiful. Such a loving thing to do for your pet!

Dan, I have a 13-year-old dove, or, rather, he has me. I live in his apartment with him, and it's all set up just for him. I have no intention or desire to have a man in my life. How many partners would allow their partner to have a dove that flies loose and owns the kitchen and living room?
I think he might be gay, im not being ugly my gaydar is going off is all.
yep. he's sweet.

@@MrMaxTVWorld You rescued the bird from him and he charged you for it.
Same here!! The look on his face when he said it really got to me. I could see the pain it caused him to see Max had been abused like that.
Max has the best Daddy now! Love you Max! You are just truly beautiful and so funny, a reflection of the wonderful care and love you are in💓💕
does he know he's a bird.
nope
Hhahahaha so funny
he reminds me of fudge from the Judy Blume books
I don't have birds so I really know little to nothing about them, I just went down a rabbit hole on youtube of parrot videos about cockatoos so he's my question. I know they demand a lot of attention and they get self destructive if you're not able to provide them with daily attention, would providing him a friend possibly a mate help with that problem to some extent?
Mr. Max T.V. He is a bird with a beautiful soul he's better than humans ❤💗❤
Your commitment to this bird is absolutely beautiful! I have a house of birds as well.. Both my cockatoos are rescues and over 40 years old.. It is good to see a Moluccan fully feathered and looking so happy!
*Im sure that Max former owner who passed away is smiling in heaven when he see you two guys together doing crazy things. It’s so appreciated to remind people about that. I forgot again as I am so quick at the button. So, my PATIENCE will provide a wee bit of kindness to share with Max and Daddy. Thank you for reminder 😉.
I don't think he runs that many ads. There's was only 1 in the very beginning of this video and none for the rest of the 25 minutes. Some youtubers would of had 10 ads in this amount of time.
7.756.935 didnt know the ad thing...i will watch some now
I know this video is old, but I just want to say that you are a wonderful man for having rescued Max from an unsure future, and loving him and taking such good care of him.
God Bless you, Dan, for respecting the needs of Max before everything else. You are his Daddy.
I to have a feathered three year old. He adopted me almost 15 years ago. If you accept their friendship it's a lifetime commitment. I'm so lucky that I've been able to be with my little friend just about everyday since I've had him. He is amazing. His vocabulary is amazing in and of itself. I hate that his previous owner sold him to you! He should have give him to you considering that you looked after him for six months; and would come by to feed and play with him after the guy got 😡. Moluccans are drama queens and the more you yell at them, the more they scream back. I got cheated on a goffin cockatoo-paid him 600$ and then he decided to give him to a rescue before I got paid again but I'm happy that I got Dexter. I'm very glad that you have Max; you two seem very happy that fate put you together!
Thank you for such a loving explanation about Max. You truly deserve him and vice versa. It's so refreshing to hear someone with so much love and dedication to their pet. Wish more people would take caring for a pet so seriously. God bless you both.
dude, you are the COOOLEST dad in the world; i'm too old or we would get a bird, too; great job!
I admire your love and dedication to him. I bet he appreciates your calm voice.
Your attitude to your (& Max's) personal privacy is both admirable and refreshingly different from most individuals who post on the InterWebNet. You're a Fine Man sir and your commitment to Max and his health and happiness sets an example to us all. Max, on the other hand, is one screw short of a nutjob ... exactly the way a Moluccan ought to be. I can't tell you how hard I've laughed at your videos - you both bring a LOT of joy to the world. StonyRC I really appreciate him not bringing politics into this as well. This channel does not need that drama! This channel is like therapy from all the stress and anxiety I get from politics. Also greetings from the US.
Sometimes Daddy makes noises and talks kind of strangely to Max. Max pauses and looks at his dad as if to say "are you ok in the head?" Lol.
Seen this so many times and am still shocked your friend asked you to watch Max for so long like he was just a hamster. It's like someone asking you to watch their two year old for half a year! Kudos to you for taking on this commitment and extending it for a lifetime.
And then asked for him back, like uh, no.
The friend had no clue and is selfish!!!
Max is one lucky bird. You're a great birdy daddy.
Max is a beautiful boy. You really have a child in your house, requires a lot of care. Thanks for taking Max into your life, he's a lucky boy to have you for a Dad.

You are one of the kindest people I have ever seen. Not only did you take on a massive responsibility that you weren't even looking for to save this birds life, but I love how you said that people should donate to charity and adopt birds instead of promoting their breeding. Max is one lucky fella and you saved his life.
I will vote for Max for President. He’s the cutest thing ever!!!!! ❤️
Having Max seems to be similar to having a special needs child. God bless you for taking this on, he could have been in a really bad situation.

This is lovely. You gave a compassionate soul. Max is adorable and has quite a soul and personality that you know and get. So wonderful. You are a great guy and eternal blessings for you and your humanity. Its too bad your friend was so callous about poor Max but Max found his way to you and let the world know that he found his family.
I really love how you've kind of adopted bird-like mannerisms and bonded in that way with him.
Instead of being rude or upset about it, you're very tolerant and engage in his behavior (or discipline if necessary), and you're his best friend. As it should be. You're an amazing owner and it's great to see how well you do. So proud!

It is relaxing to me to watch your videos. It is good that you mention that you cannot be gone from home for long or often because of being responsible for him. That is quite a commitment.
4:44 *slowly moves closer and stares at the camera*
Loolol
Haha
StonyRC lool that made me laugh too! I love max and his sassy ness 🤣🤣👏

GET YOUR TOES OUT OF THE TEA is my favorite line lolol. He's eating the q and a sheet lol
I'm very impressed by your understanding of Max and his species. It is like a 3yr. old that never growes up. It's easy to fall in love with the bird but to commit to his care says volumes about your character. I and all Max's friends will stick with you. If you ever need help, reach out, you don't have to squawk alone....
i imagine it must be incredibly difficult for such intelligent and sensitive birds like max to have to deal with their owner dying and having to be adopted by someone else. the chances of ending up with someone who won't take care of them properly seems sadly high. even people who are animal lovers and give them everything they need to be physically healthy often don't realize the kind of mental care they need. from watching your videos it seems max is lucky to have found his way to you and i think he understands that. i would love to have a cockatoo but i know that the responsibility would be pretty difficult for me. if i was for some reason forced to take care of one i would try to rise to the challenge with as much motivation as i could.. but yes a situation like yours almost is like suddenly having to adopt a child. i applaud you
I agree You can see the love and bond they have for each other.
Max definitely has a great home!! He seems very happy and very comfortable with you!! Good job and kudos to you!!!
Lol, you DEFINITELY have a Central PA accent! (My husband's family is from western Central PA, so I know the accent quite well.) It is lovely to see how you so devotedly care for this bird that you never originally planned to own. Possibly for the rest of your life. Bless you, sir!
I live in PA. No one in this state talks like him. I think he's orignally from Canada.
Canadians and Americans that live right on the border often have the same accent. Very southern Manitoba residents can have a fargo accent.
Max was a lucky bird to met you!
Max is so cute and lovely. Just like a baby..god bless you both
Great video Dan , thanks for telling about Max .. :) You two are great !!
Harley the cockatoo
Live your channel

Colonel Mark Julifs good luck! 😊
