Cool video, thanks for posting. That's me in the Blue '67 at 19:27! I built my own engine it's a fairly mild 2180, with a bone stock transmission too. Best time that day was 8.82 @ 77.78 sec. Pretty happy with that actually. I screwed up one pass and let off the throttle. I think its capable of 8.6 😎 I'm a newbie driver, still learning and figuring out the car. If you happen to have any other videos of the races please post them or let me know. Thanks!
WOW I noticed how fast your car was. Total sleeper. Might want to put a super diff in there and welded 3rd and 4th. or shes gonna blow at some point. Broken spiders is the first weakest point. Most guys need a super beetle main shaft with that side engine too. I did notice you were pretty easy on the launch which is a trans saver too. But it will not last very long with that size motor.

OH yea the crowd was cheering every time. 23 window early with a turbo engine. running 8.30s

last event it ran a 5.25 in the 8th. that run was a 5.40. Really hard to film.
Hey Mike ! I did a outer end job on a 62 - 40hp that had about 300,000 miles on it . This man would not let me split the case ? Just replace the rod bearings . The motor lasted that long because when that man got the car he was told by the dealer it would last as long as you don't go pass 60 mph . What I saw in it was not that the rings were worn bad or big ruts in the cylinder's it was the valve guides were terrible . I put some use exhaust valves and new guides , rings and when the man got it back he was happy ? I don't know why he would not let me spit the case and replace the mains?????? The parts man at VW dealer lived 4 houses down and he told me that VW engines are like this . If I am going to hit you in the face would you rather me hit you from 1 inch or 1 foot ??? Slop is the enemy.!!!!
probably needed line bore too. the Mag cases just dont make it that far.

I wasnt there to film it but he did get a 6.90....last time there was a miss one bad jet. took the whole motor apart and saw nothing. Only the carb had a bad thread in the jet. all they could find then it ran great.
@@Mikefngarage I thought it was over cam . Now they can coon tune it . Hey Mike how come they don't start out with a type 4 block. And build a 3.3 , is it the cost . Back when I ran the Sunnen seat and guide machine it look like you could put big valves in them .
