Hey Dylan, A little tip coming from someone who has back issues, the easiest way to get something out of the box is to fold all 4 flaps out and turn the box upside down on the floor, then lift up the light weight box. Once you do it this way, its the only way you will want to do it. It's soooo much easier on the body. 😉 Great channel you have here, love watching everything you do.
Fender is on fire these days. They are hitting home runs. On a slightly off topic note, I just got a used older 2004 Mexican Strat and that’s excellent too.
I can’t speak for the guitars, but I did buy an Am Pro II Jazzmaster neck a couple of months ago, as a “B-Stock” customer return no less, and it is the most flawless neck I have ever bought. Absolutely perfect fretwork, 100% level, beautifully polished. I also really like the satin finish and the “Deep C" profile, which feels a lot fuller than Modern C, even if it’s not that “deep” in reality.
If you want more from a Strat pickup, try the Performer's Yosemite pickups. They are a bit hotter and beefier, without losing any of the vintage Strat tone, vibe, and feel. My favorite Strat pickups ever!
I think Fender hires amazing top guys for their pickups research team. They are masters of the single coil. They basically cracked the codes for the ultimate single coils.
I just received an American Pro 2 Strat from sweetwater this weekend and it is much nicer than examples that I tried over the last 2 years in guiter center.
Every Fender American professional Pro ll I have picked up has pretty good fit and finish the fretwork it's pretty good. The switch on the Push Pull bottom tone control could be just a little more low profile when engaged. I like the sound of the v-mod pickups the Push Pull switch really helps. I think Fender is really feeling the Heat from the Paul Reed Smith silver sky core model the SE. There is nothing like a little bit of competitive competition from manufacturers all of us benefit from that that ensures increase quality control.
Yes and no, Fender doesn't ever need to worry about Paul Reed Smith. His camp is like the Fender camp, very loyal and usually, they don't like the other when asked. So competition cause Mayer chose a crap strat copy? No, Fender has nearly bought Paul in weak performance years twice. So they will never hurt from them. Personally, the 3 to a side headstock kill me. They are so unfunctional when paired with trees, that they should just be stopped at this point. I've tried all levels of the Silver Sky, I find it a strat copy with a shit neck on it. That's it. Nothing special, everybody get over it already, good lord. Besides the feature on a Player Plus model from Fender, end the discussion. Costs less, cievers every single feature, doesn't have 3 on 3 unfunctional headstock. What debate, for those who know?
I put another nut just above the push pull pot and it lowered the tone knob closer to the pick guard. Have to take the pick guard of to access the pot but it’s worth it.
I've owned a whole lot of MIM, MIJ, and MIA Fender Strats over the last five decades, Am. Stds, Specials, and Deluxes, Mexican Stds., and higher level MIM ones, Classics, Classic Players, Roadhouses, Lonestars, Player series, and my Am. Pro and Am. Performer are the two best I've ever owned!
I have two American pro II. I got them before the price hikes both are great. I spent 80 and put two sets of locking tuners on both. The Jazzmaster had a spring issue if you want heavy gage strings on it. It’s a 4 dollar fix or if you have an extra bigsby spring it works fine. They have my favorite fender necks.
Love my Fender Pro II Telecaster Deluxe. Bought it used a few months ago. It is now my most used hard tail guitar. The only mod I did was to put replace the standard tuners with the Fender locking tuners, only to save string change time. The other guitarist in my band loves it too, and wants first dibs if I sell it.
My Performer has a pull pot on the 2nd tone control to turn the neck on when the 5 way is set for bridge or bridge and middle. On the HSS Performer it splits the HB.
The weird truth is Ive noticed some Gibson guitars with sub standard quality and some Epiphones with sub standard qualities but for ME I find as guitarist I will always buy Gibson,Squier ,Fender, and Epiphone because to pick one up….; These guitars make me think I’m a ROCK GOD no mater what the benefits or losses! So Gibson guitars and Fender guitars and others PRICELESS!
🤘Going from the 3 Position Switch to 5 Position was scary when the technology was first introduced too (sarcasm for the final comment.) I think new and useful technology is cool most of the time considering guitars have gone unchanged for basically 75 years. Can't wait to see the Hyper Switch Video.
This Hyperswitch looks promising. Im sort of not happy it chains you to your phone, in lieu of just remembering the last touch, and I guess we can only hope that it gets some sort of PC bluetooth connection. On balance, this is how things evolve and its often not perfect...its most of the time just less shitty:) Dropping one in a Stratocaster, incidentally, is pretty smart, but i sorta suspect the ability to change wiring patterns and pickup configs like this is going to affect everything if the reliable guys give it the nod.
@@1Moggi Have a look behind the head of the version of me playing the gold top in my latest upload, and you’ll see for yourself. In fact I’m spending my morning picking out a strat song for my next vid to debut it on the channel.
I find that it's on a case by case basis. I also wonder if day of the week and pressure from the top drives poor QC. Money guitar - it's Monday Wednesday guitar - I love working here. Friday guitar - it's Friday; let's get out of here.
Dylan having to lift that shape of button up is not to convenient. Just sayin...does that make sense! I,d like to see them use a toggle or S-1 switch. That make sense too, what you think?
I assume Sweetwater is doing 15 points check before they ship their guitars. I don’t think it was perfectly setup by Fender. I got my Performer HSS from Tomann and they don’t do any setup if you don’t ask for it. My US made Fender had issues.
03/29/2023: Hello, I am retired 77-years young, and I love your informative videos. May I ask you to do a video on the best "wireless" over the ear headphones that don't need a computer or Bluetooth phone. I seek to just plug in an adapter to headset jack on amp and play. I could only find Waza headset that simply had an adapter to plug in amp, but the price point is about $400.00. I am just a home hobbyist and do not wish to pay that much. My EART Guitar T-380, Modern Humbucker Pickups, Double Coil Split, Two Point Tremolo Bridge, stainless steel fret wires electric Guitar guitar only cost me that much. So, what do you think? Regards form Orlando, Florida 🙂
Recently bought an ultra tele and had to return due to neck and fret issues and a shoty tone pot. The second ultra had the lumpiest neck I’ve ever seen on a fender. The back of the neck felt so bad and the setup from the factory was also not great. If I get a fender any time soon it’s gonna be an older one or possibly a Japanese model
That Seymour Duncan Hyperswitch seems like it's just asking for problems, and I don't know how you work around the latency issues with Bluetooth. I have a Free-Way 10-way switch in my Strat. Works great, no battery or app to fail or glitch, and gives a some very cool tone options, for about half the price.
@@proof377 Yeah, that's what I'm figuring. I just had it in my head at the time the guitar was sending to the unit and not the other way.around. I gotta stop day-drinking. jk My NuX Mighty Plug lets me switch settings.
The Gibson guy said that for the same reason they all do. People love to hate. They have no hands on experience, they just repeat what they have read. Meanwhile if you talk to someone who actually has bought a Gibson they are in love.

The American Pro 2 is $1,699 new. With inflation, I guarantee that the American Standard would have been right there with it. Personally I see it as just another name for the same thing. Yeah they changed a few variables but it's basically an American Strat. Personally I love the contoured heals, and I think it's great that we don't have to pay over two grand for an ultra to get it.
Yes indeed, and the Pro series sucks. It's like the worst idea in the world to basically changes little, amd jack prices up 800 bucks on ten years, that's also a WTF moment. Fender, you can and will soon need to do better.
@@Dartheomus the inflation is calling the next year model a new name for same features with exception to electronics which when fender is involved, they sound the same no matter what they do to it there. No wiring, no pai tjob, no pickups, are gonna justify the 800 dollar increase since 08'.
I dont listen to MGK, but I think everyone should play guitar if they enjoy it. Like it or not, he’s played that guitar on some big stages and a lot of his fans liked what he played, what else matters?

I have always had a love/hate relationship with the Strat, but I love my Performer.
Yosemite pickups are the best ever!
The Fender American Pro is a masterpiece. I love it.
I recently got a used 2019 American Performer Strat in Honey burst. It is perfect, sounds amazing. Built quality is stellar.

These guitars have been out for going on four years and you're just discovering them? Wow!
Did he just discover them,or just now get one?? I'm not going to go back and rewatch it.
How does it compare to a silver sky?
The key is not how well the TREm is set up but how well the guitar nut is cut with some heavy trem abuse!
Would like to see what you make of a freeway 10-way switch in a Strat style guitar (or Nashville tele)
