Hmh I'll try to explain it with my bad english :P The lever upstairs turns the power ON/OFF. When it's ON, the other lever works. The lever downstairs controls the forcefields. (There are two forcefields: one that blocks the door behind the lever and the big bubble outside). When the power is activated, one forcefield disappears, according to the position of this lever. To get the variant I turn the power off : Saavedro is trapped. Then I pull the 2nd lever and turn the power on. I'm confused xD
How ironic. Sixth grade, for me, was when I would play this a lot. It was after school, but for a while I'd play it everyday. That was in 2006, though. I'm going into 12th grade soon.
He's just messed up after being alone for 20 years. Also he met Atrus' sons who were bad people. He doesn't know you and he's kinda crazy. So you have to force him to give you the book and then you can be nice to him or not depending on what kind of person you are. Myself i'm usually a decent if somewhat cautious person.
It's the Releeshahn book. The D'ni survivors dwell there. Saavedro stole it and holds it hostage in exchange for Atrus rewriting Narayan (because he thinks it died at first). Without the Releeshahn book, everyone of D'ni would be lost to Atrus and Catherine forever, which would not be good.
@FlippieX I know, I've always thought this part was weird. It's just to force the player to solve the puzzle correctly I guess. Because throwing the book makes nonsense, he's not that insane... But it's just how I feel, I don't know why but I like Saavedro.

I think the survivors of the fall of D'ni are living in that world. It'd be too difficult to rewrite it AND get them back. You'd have to be extremely lucky, if my knowledge of the Art is correct.
#1 Bad ending ... this is why you keep several copies of your work. Plus, isn't that what a flash drive is for? If none of these apply, couldn't he just rewrite the book?
i always thought about games like this, its just like in real life: it depends on your decision what happens next...isn't it so? thanks for the others. reminded me how confused i was what to do then till i "got it" :)
5:04 that actually scared me because hes coming for you! O_O! And I wish that your character could fight back in this game. Like when Saavedro tries to hit you in the shoulder with his rock attached to a stick, you should be like Jackie Chan where you grab his weapon in time and elbow him in the face!

@FlippieX I actually made a mistake doing that, because I thought it was wrong to cut the power. I ran away screaming "I'M A BAD PLAYER!!!"
