Can you please make a video on Registration on the campervan? I have concerns regarding this... If we convert a van into campervan do we need to get the registration certificate updated? What about old vehicles like your Matador ... For how long can we get the registration extended? What are the costs?

Instead of trying to spend tax payers money on making Caravans and then not using them after a year. It is better our govts understand the true way of increasing tourism. They need to liberalise Caravan licensing and manufacturing. Also educate traffic police on Caravans. Am sure these will make local players own and rent enough number of Caravans to help tourist select from their choice.

@@FirstIndianCamper yes you are right, this is why I don't ride in Kerala because of their traffic police, I think when they see MH registration there might not much issue. Indian government should Liberalize caravan manufacturing or else give the approval to convert the any vehicle to our own idea like in Europe. It's already people started vanlife in India too. Discovered your channel Today!
    Pretty informative video.
    Thanks !!!
My husband's and I began traveling by road in the year 2000 in our beautiful Santro. ( We still have her) The back seats would tumble down to flatten the back , we would put our mattress ( gadda), few bedsheets, pillows and some stuff and go.
Used tobe a real adventure trip coz then there were no mobiles, no internet... navigation was through maps( paper/books) and truck drivers !!!! ,
Many times on map a road was shown and on ground .... It wasn't there !!!!!
So when we see nowadays people travelling by road .... It makes us so happy. It's such a fun way to travel .
It also makes us aware how things have changed over the years in our country!!!!
Then it used to be the local shacks that served the most amazing food and tea .... not the KFC drive through, and the truck drivers of the hilly areas like Manali or leh were the most disciplined and helpful !!!!
    👍👍

"First Indian Camper" ....well that's debatable, there were a lot of people camping and leading a nomadic life in the early 70's and 80's too. For instance, My dad used to own a Matador in 1990 and my whole family used to travel in it long distances during our summer vacation and we used to put bedding in the back for us to sleep in it and mom used to pack some essential food items and also a kerosene gas stove so we could cook if the need arose, because in those days there were not many hotels around, and i was maybe around 4-5 years old then. So maybe you should change the channel name to "First Indian Camper on UA-cam"... 👍👍👍

I am bringing all sorts of super light and super tiny camping stuff from here, so I can live out of the car while offroading if needed, or I can park it at someone's compound at offbeat location with their permission. Don't want to spend on makeovers now cause I have a shoe string budget , as I don't plan to work after I go back.just want to enjoy nature where it's possible for the palio to make it.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. It was so elaborate. Please suggest if it's ok to go out camping with a pet. I have a Labrador. And I love to travel, but I don't want to leave my child in a creche or with anybody else.

Oh yes. Pets love camping, thats their natural habitat. Trust me your Lab would love it. Just make sure he is on leash while sleeping outside ur tent at night. Also make sure the locatin isnt prone to wild beasts...

Good and helpful information, however, regarding best suitable and economical vehicle to convert into Camper Van would be Cargo tempo traveller, in reality it's much efficient, economical and practical terms to make into customised caravan, Force guys may have thier point in promoting Traveller(with seats) since it will improve their sale & profit more(considering road tax is paid on per seat basis if used commercially, not sure if there is scope of registering Cargo as personal vehicle? ) But according to reginal state RTO rules.. Cargo vans are already used to make and register as Camper Van in India.. wish you all best of luck

When I think about building a camper van, the first vehicle comes in my mind is matador...!
when you think about going off the grid I think Gypsy is one of the best option....!
In overland category I think you missed Scorpio Getaway.....!

    • @FirstIndianCamper
